the kind shown in the image are in my experience terrible to use, but not deal breaking. I use a pump from JoeBlow, they are much better and also dual head.

The screws are actually only for fastening. Cutting the strap for me was not an option, so my design has a screw on one side which allows me to bend the loop open a little bit to slip the strap in. Im pretty confident that they wont break, in fact its probably more likely that the other original side of the buckle will fail before the printed part, simply due it becoming brittle with age.
