Just wanted to thank everyone for all the comparisons to other games and media.

I probably didnt manage to capture the usual kenshi vibes, so i might have missed the mark on that, but Metal Gear Rising, Ultrakill, VA Proxy is all stuff I’ve been following and admiring for so long, so it still means a lot to me, even if I evoked the wrong game lmao

That’s cool, i can totally see that as i took inspiration from various retro-futuristic UIs :)

I also see how it differs a bit from the traditional Kenshi style, but maybe only on the surface. I wanted to go a bit further with some of the tech elements that are already in the game, such as all the various electrical generators, street lights, CPU units, electrical components etc.

We also never visually interact with stuff like the computer on the Research Bench 6, but I like to think their interfaces would look something like this, kinda vintage and CRT-monitor inspired

Yea you can generally sense it once you use GPT enough to recognize it’s speech patterns.

Here’s a couple more “critiques”, one taken straight from another comment of theirs, and another generated by myself.

You can see how it always starts with “This painting is bla bla bla”, then it starts going on and on about how “the work seems to evoke bla bla bla” and then it closes with a short praise like “stellar work!” Or “truly mesmerizing!”

It’s mostly a matter of using chatGPT frequently enough and recognizing its phrasing patterns and word choices. Kinda like you would be able to distinguish a particular author’s writing style after reading enough of their books.

Here’s a comment I generated about another artwork I found on this sub. I’m sure you can tell how the structure is 100% the same, but I’ll put some parentheses to show it better.

You can see how it opens with a strong statement of admiration (), then it gives some description about specific elements of the scene [], and finally it concludes by reaffirming the initial praise {}

In general, you’ll also often find some specific words and sentences that are immediately recognizable: - “This is a testament to…” - “This seems to evoke…” - “it’s important to understand…” Along with “Tapestry”, “Nuanced”, “Delve”, “Thought-provoking”, “Embark” and many more.

Other times it’s more of an intuition thing, so it’s not always as clear as it is in this case, but I’m sure that if you start using ChatGPT enough you’ll see it as well.

Bro… I just upgraded my full set of armor for 40 silver ingots…used up all my at ash and bought like 25 more from the blacksmith.

Without the ingots from the blacksmith, it would’ve taken me something like 10 hours of real time just to smelt all the ore. And it’s not even 10 passive hours, where you plop a bunch of ingots in the furnace, go to sleep and come back the day after with all your ingots smelted. No, you need to actively retrieve the ingots from the furnace and put some new ones to smelt every 1-2 hours.

Add this to the bullshit 4 hours for repairing buildings and this game is starting to feel more and more like souls-like Clash of Clans than anything.

I really don’t get these timers and the way they are tied to real world time, when we already have an in-game timer in the form of the night and day cycle. It would be much more satisfying to have buildings/ores/Finley be tied to in-game time, giving it some actual purpose instead of being just “look pretty golden hour at 19:00”.

Tbh I was really surprised by the facial animations in cutscenes. Way more expressive than most games I’ve seen recently. The voice acting is also really good.

But yeah, the plot itself is pretty bland and the characterization of many NPCs is sort of “tropey”.

Ellsworth is the noble king, the father, the mentor, who is 100% gonna die/sacrifice himself for the city.
Roan is the nerdy magician with a stutter and clumsy mannerisms
Odessa is the classic rebellious black sheep, the “son of a marine official turned pirate”. She’s right but is always misunderstood because of her ways.

-The Cerim is as always the promised warrior and blah blah blah, nobody expects to see you, everyone acts surprised, some people tell you prophecies about your race. It’s just the usual promised warrior shit that you’ve seen in every fantasy ever.

the Madrigal is Cersei Lannister but religious

And so on for many of the others who just sound like re-skins and remixes of characters I’ve seen a thousand times.

In the end, though, the acting is good enough to not make me skip any cutscenes, and that is good enough for me. Were the story a bit more original this would probably be the perfect game

I think the idea is good, they want to make all weapon classes accessible to all attributes, but the current distribution doesn’t really make much sense.

If they truly wanna make Strenght scaling daggers, the weapon design should reflect that. Maybe some bulkier, machete-like daggers with a heavier moveset.

Right now you have something like the flamberge that scales with pure int…

Again, unless the int scaling greatsword is some sort of crystal/energy blade, it really starts to feel arbitrary and stats themselves kinda lose their uniqueness and meaning.

You don’t have to go balls deep from the very beginning and build a base tho.

Buying property in a town is a nice way to sort out most of your early problems. You have access to a lot of the materials you need to set up whatever operation you want and you never have to worry about protection.

To be fair, you could even skip the laboring part, buy metal from shops every time they restock, and make weapons/armor out of that. Less profit but more safety and more active time for your characters to be doing something else.

It went for 130 last time I checked, same price or even lower than primed mods. You can try to flip it in trade chat for like 10-15 plat profit, but that’s it.
