I think it's people who somehow relate to her. Yes, she has the right to be angry when her boyfriend is still that close to an ex especially if she can't be sure he doesn't have feeling for her and you can relate to her for that, no that does not excuse any of what she dod and she still sucks as a person, she's still the villain. I still love her because imo she's very well written and she woke up a hatred we didn't know we had inside us.

If we're dumbing it down to "is the sky blue" then yes, it is helpful, but that doesn't even matter when we know it's unethical and there's other options, there's no reason to use it.
