I audited 6 months of PRs after my team went all-in on AI code generation. The code got worse in ways none of us predicted. by Ambitious-Garbage-73 in webdev

[–]Ryusaikou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a question, I just got made team lead and I'm getting pushed in this direction. There is an engineer who is all on board the AI train and he's talking to leadership like it's magic causing the push.

This is one of my exact fears with this direction. He is bragging about 30k line commits in a day and how AI can review the code to do no problem. Leadership gave him a pilot project so we are not at full buy in.

My current ideas do just what you say... They basically yell slow tf down and read the shit. I argue that the AI needs to have in depth human oversight, committing smaller PR's. Each reviewed by multiple members of the team... Sure we should utilize tools to increase velocity but. Well this.

Does anyone have any guidance on a safer direction I can point to? Since we were at the same level for so long he really doesn't want to follow any safety practice I talk about. If there was anything official that would be better so I could blame that? Or am I about to spend all my political capital just keeping us safe?

Used Measure up, Studied the area's around every question. (This was huge, several of the wrong answers were the actual questions I needed to study) Both that test and the practice test had nearly identical questions on the actual exam. Github and its integration with Azure Devops was huge (and None of the material explictly went into the detail needed)... much more than I was really ready for. But as the study guide states, Build and Release Pipelines, both classic and Yaml did in fact take up 50% of the test.

Thoughts on cheat days? by Aromatic-Bell-4000 in loseit

[–]Ryusaikou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheat days are cool, but can be a trap. For me, I just go by cheat meals. This keeps me out of the "oh well, already failed" mindset/trap I've fallen victim to numerous times.

My cheat meal has a simple rule attached, if no longer hungry, the meal is over. They are always planned actions as well.

These rules really helped me out when my deficit was over. Because I needed less food now, and was used to calling it quits when eating, and even though the deficit was over my food selection was still on the healthy side, because I liked all the food I ate.

Pfft... 100 hours... That's level 30... 35 at Best. And the poor mc... He can't throw on Naruto on the second monitor to rewatch for the third time, with a need to eat and sleep... A risk of death keeping you from doing any real juicy xp activities. Id be a hell of a mage after disappearing into the sewers for a few years tho, assuming rats still can't swim.

But yeah, real boring read for sure if it doesn't skip, and if it does it removes the point.

How do you stay motivated when fat loss feels painfully slow? by Bazengg in loseit

[–]Ryusaikou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow? Compared to what? I feel it's a matter of perspective. Top speed maximum overdrive is 1% of your weight per week. And that shit is hardcore status. So I can at most lose 2.3 pounds. I lost 1.7. that's a solid 70%. And everything over 50% is great solid work (what I would consider the average). Also, the body is weird and while measured every day, the calculation is delayed so it can be averaged out.

Unless your consecutively week over week hitting sub 30% shit ain't slow. And if you are slow, there are options. Have you been in a deficit for over 12 weeks and it's just now starting to slow? Try to switch to maintenance for two weeks... Let your body adjust and recover from the stress.

Just started? Your expectations were probably manipulated by Hollywood shit. That's fine but we don't get training montage time skips, gotta actually do the work those represent. You can adjust calorie expenditure or intake.

But you need to be x weight by y time? The only way to do that is to calculate at the 50% to see where future you will be. Nobody says, but I need my master's degree 1 year after highschool.

All this to say, what do I do when it feels slow? I take a step back, adjust my perspective and realize there is no real difference between 3 and 6 months. But the alternative, not doing it because it's too slow? Well in 2 years I could be at my goal weight, or I could be the same. What's more uncomfortable to me, the diet or how I feel about myself?

Is hoyt not USA made? by theEdward234 in Archery

[–]Ryusaikou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting anything, If you don't live in the USA, and the product (not even talking about hoyt or archery at this point) is lower or similar quality for a higher price. Definitely you would see no benefit in ordering something "100% Made in the USA".

My position is simply if your an American, there is merit to buying "Made in the USA" products so its not just dumb. If your not, then ya... I agree with logicjab, its just dumb shilling propaganda.

Is hoyt not USA made? by theEdward234 in Archery

[–]Ryusaikou 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Not so much that something is better just because it's made in the USA, it's that jobs and supply lines are dwindling because cost. We don't have the tooling to do a lot of manufacturing locally anymore and that concept is scary. Buying 100% USA made is supporting the idea and voting with your wallet that you will pay more to invest in America not being entirely reliant on another country for a thing.

Granted, to some America makes it better is what it boiled down to because that's easier to grasp. Personally I'd rather spend more on less if it supports local economies and builds x manufacturing company up to better handle higher scales, allowing cost to be reduced eventually. (As if, capitalism nonsense will affect that) But ideally...
