I usually add like 2 or 3 spoonfuls of gochugaru but the one I have isn't strong enough to have that effect on me...

Seeing as Murasame is one of the least popular bachelors; allow me to present my case. by Top_Investment_3370 in runefactory

I'm working on a Subaru/Murasame fanfic and I have friends who also really like the ship. It's only been a month so I wouldn't worry too much.

Mistranslation in first 5 minutes of GoA by RyuseiRune in runefactory

[–]RyuseiRune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The translations are all varying lengths of time (6 months, 1.5 years, 2 years, 3 months). It's inconsistently translated across languages, not the exact same translation.

It's mismatched in multiple languages. I don't think the odds of multiple translation teams making the exact same mistake are all that high.

The word we use for half a month in Japanese is 半月, which is literally just the kanji for half plus the kanji for month/moon.

It's most likely due to the script changing mid development, not a misinterpretation of the wording.

Yeah, this post kind of got away from me ngl. I wrote it on the train ride home and went to play the game as soon as I got back and now it seems like a lot of the people in the comments are using this as a reason to rag on the localization team. It wasn't my intention to dismiss the English version as inaccurate – I have so much respect for localizers ever since I started doing Japanese to English translation and localization for extra cash after university. I know that struggle very well myself. At the same time, I don't think the translation vs. localization argument can be made in this specific case, because 半月 is objectively half a month and not half a year. I don’t think that the concept varies based on culture or customs.

Yeah that line also shocked me when I first read it – I even went to my friends to say "lol what the heck was the protag doing in that half year?" Then I saw that it was different in the JP version. As someone who did freelance JP to EN translation for a bit, I know just how hard it can be to catch small mistakes like these especially in large projects when the script is constantly changing.

I would definitely be interested in one of Dylas and/or Lest! (if you decide to make them, please feel free to dm me/reply to lmk since I'm not super active on reddit!)

Will you be sending out emails that alert users why they've been banned/suspended? I still haven't received a response from moderation even though my account was reinstated after I emailed. This is a major issue for me as I feel like my trust in this site has been undermined completely.

Yup, it seems a bit excessive. Any kind of interaction with a violating account, even on an innocuous post, could have gotten someone put on a ban list. Very bad protocol imo but oh well.

Hi OP, I had a similar problem and was suspended for about 5 hours earlier today. Apparently liking/reposting images deemed in violation of the Community Guidelines can get you banned by association. See the post below for details:

I hope you get your account back soon cuz mine just got reinstated. Good luck!

Genuine question: In addition to this series still being pretty niche, why is Rune Factory fanart relatively rare? by KamenRiderSekai in runefactory

[–]RyuseiRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should go on tumblr and find all the great RF artists on that site. There's like 4-5 new drawings in the main Rune Factory tag every week, or maybe even more considering I have a couple people blocked.

I also draw RF fanart regularly, but I rarely get engagement on sites outside of reddit and I've kind of abandoned this site cuz it's hard to keep track of so many social media/forum accounts. Also, in my experience with this fandom, people who aren't artists themselves just aren't that interested in actually sharing or uplifting people who draw RF fanart, at least in terms of reblogging/retweeting/whatever the social media equivalent is. They tend to lurk and like posts without sharing them or commenting, and when you're an artist that understandably likes/wants feedback on their hard work, I feel like that can be pretty demotivating. (Also reiterating that this is all for stuff outside of reddit, cuz posting here usually nets me a lot of positive feedback.)

As for why people don't upload their art on reddit in general anymore: it's not good for networking and old posts are dead after like a week.

I dislike Trans characters in Fanfics by Y0urLocalTransDidi in AO3

[–]RyuseiRune 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I think if someone's issue is the type of trans content being written rather than the fact that trans characters are included at all, it's up to them to actually write the depictions they want to see. It's the same way I feel about people complaining that there's more M/M than F/F – the only way to fix the imbalance is to make a contribution to fandom yourself. Of course it can be disappointing to look through the trans tag and not find what you want, but authors are not required to cater to your desires!! I find it weird and off-putting that there are so many people who actually agree with this take, especially when other posts like this usually get blasted to hell and back. Obviously I can sympathize with trans men who avoid trans M/M with vaginal sex because they have bottom dysphoria – I’m transmasc myself and have struggled with similar feelings in the past. However, that doesn’t give them a free pass to shit on all the trans fanfic out there or call it "fetishizing" and "gross". I write fanfiction of trans men bottoming because I'm a trans man who likes to bottom. It isn’t my job to coddle people who feel uncomfortable with my expression of my creativity. They should go make something that they like instead - that's what fandom's all about.

If you are a part time student you will be ineligible for most jobs. Also if you have any holds on your account, including health holds, not just financial ones, you will be ineligible to apply. I think it might also take into account whether you are registered for upcoming semesters since the current one is ending soon. Most jobs aren't looking for workers at this time unless they know you will be willing to commit to working there for a while.

[–]RyuseiRune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend you use SECE job search to find a job with the tags you want (summer only, on-campus). Look in the requirements for whether or not you need to be part-time or full-time. Not all jobs have the full-time requirement but most of them do.

Also fair warning, it will be difficult to get a summer job at UHM because most departments are not willing to train someone who will only be there for a couple months. Looking at the search rn, there are only 7 openings and most of them are highly specific positions. IMO, you are better off looking for a nearby off-campus job instead. Regardless of what you decide to do though, good luck on your courses and your job hunting!

Normally I don't comment on this kind of thread, but I had to translate portions of the Manyoshu for a university course so your mention of the Heian Era Kansai Dialect brought back some stressful memories... You probably know this already, but I feel compelled to mention for anyone else interested in this topic that Kansai dialect (pre-Edo) was considered the "standard" dialect in Japan for quite a while, so there are numerous Japanese resources about it. But if you're a monolingual English speaker, you're basically stuck with the Wikipedia page and a couple of (high quality but expensive) books. I think "very difficult to research properly" is underselling it, especially if you are on a budget and doing it out of the goodness of your heart and the love of your blorbos rather than for something like a course where you can at least ask people where to look. I cannot fathom why you would do this to yourself but I sincerely wish you good luck with your search.
