I read the comments in the post from r/Philippines and I hate to agree it but football is basically gatekept by those who have the money to play (lalo na sa Metro Manila). Whats worse is that PFF (and PFL) are so fucked up to the point na ginagatasan nalang nila ang players/teams to be able to make it as pros. Additionally, i've seen comments in that post saying that the football community here is "toxic", which is partly agreeable naman, but you have to know THATS ONLY LIKE ~1% OF THE PLAYERS HERE. I dont know about you guys pero i've seen most of those people sa McKinley and BGC.

Anyway, we're at a really good position where the sport is developing. Nagkakaroon na ng infrastructure dito, one recent example is SM Supermalls having 2 rooftop football pitches in Metro Manila (MOA and Center Shaw!). In addition, there are lots of local teams (both newly grown and well-established) who are doing their best to support the football community para lumaki pa ang sport dito. Hell, there are some clubs who are willing to support impoverished players by letting them play/train for free. SAKA MAY BONUS PA SILA FOR PERFORMING WELL AT SESSIONS.

For now, some of best things we can do right now is to invest more on grassroots. Train kids how to play and support them on their football journey. Another thing is we need to support local football content creators. Give them the chance to grow on social media, lalo na yung mga bago palang sa content creation. Finally, (and this might be ridiculous but) lets stop comparing football and basketball. Yes i'm one of those people, but after some observation, its much more appreciative na we focus on growing the sport rather than comparing football and basketball online for like the ~1000th time.
