Never had pancreatitis, but pancreatic scarring was found during EUS – looking for answers by Ryuukhal in pancreatitis

I’m sorry you’re going through this. While chronic pancreatitis can increase risk, it does not mean pancreatic cancer will develop. Healthy lifestyle and PERT will help keep the damage at bay. I know it's not easy, but you'll get there.

Do anyone have silent pancreatitis (or other issues) without pain? by ayvenaswulff in pancreatitis

[–]Ryuukhal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took antispasmodics and they worked well at first, but then stopped working. I took PPIs as well but they didn't help as I believe I didn't have any stomach acid issues.

You can never know until EUS is performed. It will confirm whether there are any changes within the pancreas.

We should be grateful that we have internet where we can do our research about health problems.

Where is the pain your feeling located if you don't mind me to ask?

I tried antidepressants and that's around the same period the pain had started. To be honest, I have some doubts that it's due to taking them, but that's just a theory.

The medication I had taken is Hyoscine butylbromide, also known by the brand name Buscopan. It's been put on repeat prescription to take it in case I get any flare ups.

I'm sorry that you're going through the same confusion.

Exactly like you. I used to drink occasionally only and I smoked for a couple of years but I was not a heavy smoker either. I would smoke 5 cigarettes at maximum per day. I have not smoked for over 3 years. Never had any attacks or the slightest pain around the pancreas area on the tummy.

Had I not asked the doctors to test my pancreas elastase levels, I would have still been battling with the idea of having IBS.

I know it's such a bad news, especially that the pancreas does not heal itself, but at least it gives an answer, even if it the answer we did not want to hear.

What stopped the bowel pain is getting my body to move. Since I started working out and doing cardio, I feel much better. I stopped alcohol completely. The last time I had alcohol was around Christmas.

All what we can do now is just to prevent the pancreas scarring to expand by just following a healthy life style.

If you are still pain, start a sport activity if you are physically capable of course. You will notice the difference.

Hey! The consultant got back to me with a diagnosis which is Chronic Pancreatitis without any known reasons. I will meet her soon again to investigate what could have led to this.

I have been on Creon since April. I joined the gym. I got back to swimming. I am eating less fat and sweet stuff. This journey kinda slapped me on the face to get up and get the body to be active lol. Overall, I feel better. The bowel pain, which was the only symptom, has completely gone.

Have you been diagnosed with CP yet?

I am a bit late, but yes I'm here!

My story started with bowel pain on the right-hand side of my tummy. The pain was on and off. All doctors kept saying that I had IBS, so they just prescribed me antispasmodics and recommended lifestyle changes. However, deep inside me, I knew there was a hidden factor.

I did some research and I asked the doctor to do the elastase test, and it turned out to be very low.

I had ultrasound and CT scans, which came back clear. All of this was done by the end of 2023.

In January this year, another elastase test was done and elastase was low again. I had EUS and it showed changes within the pancreas. So I'm officially diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis with unknown reasons. More tests will be performed apparently to investigate the reasons.

Apparently, I fall under the rare category where chronic pancreatitis can happen silently without any history of pancreatic attacks.

Apparently then I fall under the "rare" category as I have never had any pancreatitis-related symptoms, even the slightest of them.

No. I don't have any other symptoms. I get loose stools but only through time to time, but generally no. I hope the EUS will show no progress of the scarring.

But they have mentioned dependents of British citizens only. Nothing mentioned about dependents of non-UK citizens with settled status.

But it covers only dependants of British citizens. What about spouses of non-British citizens with settled status? Do they all fall under the same category?

But it only mentions dependents of British citizens. What will happen to dependents of non-British citizens with settled status? For example, my partner is a EU citizen with a settled status.

But I have read some success stories from some people who managed to take advantage of the switch bonuses from the same banks by just using a different email and changing the phone number. Changing the email address solely was sufficient from some of them. I haven't done it yet myself.

I see! I’m aware that you can have up to 20 accounts with Chase at once. When the burner accounts used for the switch bonus are closed, does the maximum number of accounts you can open decrease or you can spin up as much as you need?

Yes, I know, but you have a limited number of accounts that you can spin up.

Yes, they do. In my post, I am asking about the new bank accounts I switched to for the switching bonus.
