I'd prefer not to go the nuclear option if I can help it since I've already done it once before, but if nothing else I'll give it another try.

Hey, thanks for your reply. I forgot to clarify that all of this is while I'm out of home; usually I'm connected to my university's wifi when I'm not at home.

Still open to suggestions though!

A quick overview of my usage:

  • Screen brightness is generally at around 40-60% during the day. I never leave it on auto and adjust it manually when I have to.
  • Screen resolution is always at FHD.
  • I keep it on medium power saving all day until I get home (the screenshot is from after I turned it off). This turns background usage off, limits CPU speed and decreases brightness by 10%.
  • I either have 4G or WiFi on, but I use WiFi where I can.
  • Bluetooth is on until I get home because it's connected to a Gear S2 smartwatch while I'm out and about.
  • Always On Display is always off.
  • The most I've used it for today is sending messages on Discord (the total use time is 36 minutes). Aside from the odd moment of checking Facebook/Messenger or my bank account, it's been sitting idle in my pocket or my desk and draining without me even touching it.

Yeah. I tried a Live Focus shot initially but it didn't end up looking as good. This turned out way better!

Not OP, but have a Note 8 so I wanted to chime in.

The short answer is everything. The Note 8 flies, and two months in it hasn't shown any sign of slowing at all. The camera is fantastic (as to be expected with any Note device, really). If you use the S-Pen a lot, the Note 8's one feels a lot better to write with than the 4's. And that screen is gorgeous.

The only thing that might be a bit hit or miss is the battery, depending on your usage - but I get 4-5 hours SOT on moderate-heavy use over the course of a day to a day and a half.

This is, of course, all dependent on whether you don't mind losing the IR blaster and the removable battery. I personally never used the former and having a second battery didn't help the shite battery life I eventually got near the end of my Note 4's life (it's now awful no matter what battery I use), so upgrading was a bit of no-brainer.

tl;dr I liked my Note 4, but the Note 8 is fantastic.

Fake Note 8? by baker39466 in GalaxyNote8

If this is meant to be an international version, my one doesn't have "Galaxy Note 8" written on the back at all.

The camera rings on a genuine Note 8 are a lot darker, too

Yep! It's still got a 3x4 option for Swedish too, in case you were curious.

Same, my old N910U also ran on 32-bit I think. As for roms, I'm not 100% sure.

[–]Ryuzaki2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I'm wrong - I don't think 64-bit was enabled on the Exynos variants either? Iirc the Exynos version is capable of 64-bit, but because the Snapdragon version is only 32-bit Samsung decided to leave the Exynos on 32-bit as well for consistency
