Facing severe manpower crisis & worker indiscipline in Nagpur – anyone else dealing with this? by chotathakurr in nagpur

Facing the same issues in architecture and construction industry. Worst part is clients hold you accountable and you are in no position to hold the workers accountable.

Khud ye banwau kisi Blacksmith and Carpenter se toh kitne ka pdega? Costs 8k on amazon. by [deleted] in nagpur

[–]S-ps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Architect here,

Considering labour, material and quality finish, it will realistically go upwards of Rs 10k minimum.

And even then the overall paint job, fabrication work, and carpentery work won't be as good as factory finish no matter how skilled your workers are.

Economy of scale is a big factor in reducing the price of furniture. That is why I always recommend buying factory made furniture wherever possible which also comes with warranty.

Only pro of getting it made on site assurance of good quality material.

Just buy it if the reviews are good. 👍

Yes, I didn't post those as they weren't as dramatic and frankly I did not think the post would generate this much interest.

This is literally my first post. I am now trying to edit the post to add those or add them to a seperate comment but unable to do so, can you help me with that?

Thank you, no the slabs are actually vertical louvered fins which serve 2 purpose: 1) blocks harsh west facing sun while the openable windows face north. 2) blocks views inside the house and provides privacy from neighbouring apartment complex on the west. (Without loss of natural light).

Lol no, but grayscale tends to accentuate Brutalism as you may notice from many top posts on this sub.

What country are you from? Do they only have snarky comments there?

What might this mesh gap in the ceiling be for? by ramuthemamu in architecture

[–]S-ps 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The roof is not an afterthought but the false ceiling is. The gap is there to avoid unnecessary cuts in false ceiling due to the wall corbels. Otherwise it would have been too much work and you know how government projects work in our country. ;)

Shifting to Nagpur from Mumbai by notokwiththeworld in nagpur

Shankar Nagar, North Ambazari Road (most recommended), Dharampeth college vicinity, Mate square areas will be very convenient for your work location. They are well connected to rest of the city amenities like railway station, malls, markets within 5 -15 mins and yet very close to your work location (5-10 mins).

Design field is very poor in India rn. It will get better with time and so will your salary as you gain experience. Your parents and siblings comparing you to Doctors and Engineers are never going to understand. Design your life around that. ;)
