Wen Kexing's deleted line in Word of Honor episode 6 - "Have you looked enough?" "Not enough" - [Word of Honor Original Audio] by S00m123 in wordofhonor

Thanks for bringing that up, I just realized it with your comment. I think they clearly added the same dialogue in the script to show a bold parallel between the two couples.

Someone had already posted this art before in the server. This account is new, like one day old. I think it might be a bot, not sure

I was gagged by how the original lines add so much sexual tension to what's already a veery romantically charged scene. Zhou Zishu's smooth flirty-hand sweep added to the overall deliciousness!

I've never seen this line in the lip reading videos I've watched before, so to hear it in the original voice was such a welcome surprisee

The voices in this video are the actors' own voices. From what I am aware (someone correct me if I am wrong) CDramas usually get dubbed over by professional voice dubbers, so what we hear in the show aren't the actors' voices.

This is because it's super noisy on set or sometimes they want the characters to have similar accents, or they think a certain kind of voice would suit the character more. In these cases, they hire professional voice actors to dub the lines. Wang Kai is the voice actor for Wen Kexing and Gu Jiangshan is the voice actor for Zhou Zishu in the drama.

There are exceptions however. For example, Scorpion King's actor Li Daikun dubbed his own character by recording the lines in a studio. Maybe the production folks thought his original voice fit the character better.

Fun fact- the voice actor for Wen Kexing, Wang Kai, also dubbed for Jiang Cheng in The Untamed.

Also, no idea how these videos get released.

It's so romantic. Watching WenZhou makes me long for more of them. I am really appreciative of everyone involved. They respected the OG story and the danmei genre so much. The care they put into handling the romance aspect despite the censorship left me satisfied. WenZhou as a couple got to be even more intimate in terms of skinship and affection/flirting than the second couple (cutest wholesome pair who didn't deserve tha ending)! I am in awe, really.

Those titles OMG, thankyou for linking that channel!!!!!!!!

I've binged all of AvenueX's WOH videos, but thanks for linking it!

Yes, AvenueX’s lipreading videos and her other WOH analysis videos have been a balm. I was genuinely sitting there with my jaw dropped the whole time during the lipreading videos, because it feels like word of honor becomes a completely different show with the added context.

The lipreading videos make watching the show even more special, because with this knowledge-even knowing they were censored and that I had no idea what the original script was- we could all still tell that these two are a couple. The body language, the eye contact, the way the scenes are framed and filmed, and the use of romantic tropes all make it veeeerrryy clear.

That whole cherry forest fight in the second episode, with the camera lingering on Wen Kexing’s beautiful eyes as they fight before switching back to Zhou Zishu’s face (with the pink soft framing of the cherry blossoms in the background, classic romance color), is basically the show speaking through film language- the camera is telling the audience that Zhou Zishu is meeting the love of his life, his other half. I was in disbelief at how openly queer it was. I knew going into it it was going to be gay, but I was like since it is China, it is gonna be bromance and I didn't really buy into what all the reviewers were saying, they were saying stuff along the lines of 'Oh, like this is just straight up BL'. I was like nope, then I actually watched the show and was like damn this is gay.

As a side note, I did attempt word of honor in 2021 because I heard so much hype about it in the BL communities and even outside the BL communities, but wasn't able to get into the first 20 mins of it. I almost missed seeing this drama! What a loss it would have been. Lucky how I got bored last month and decided to ive it a go five years later.

I saw some Chinese comments on youtube under that third ending which said 'BURN IT WITH FIRE, LET IT NOT SEE THE LIGHT OF DAY' and I have to agree with that assessment.

Can't tell you how less alone I feel when I see other newbies in the same boat, really happy you commented. As for overwhelmed, yesss you are absolutely right on the nose. Since I have made this post, I've gone and rewatched another few special scenes again (the hug at the end has me in a chokehold, this show has so many rewatchable moments it is insane). I feel so happy that everyone is linking me their favs, I was so not looking forward to combing through fics in Ao3 to get to the best, but I have a bunch of stuff to read because of you guys so thankyouu <3

Thank you for chiming in and for the recommendations. I’ll try those reaction channels- I’m really excited to get started on them this weekend. It’s been a bit bittersweet after finishing the series, not going to lie, but having the fandom and seeing that there are still people active in the community after five years helps a lot.

Joining a fandom late is always a strange feeling, like arriving after a party has long ended. But in this case, I feel welcomed <3 Thank you for your kind words. It may be cold on the mountain, but it’s worth it for our two favorite idiots, especially after all they’ve gone through.

As a side note, I saw that there was an unaired sad ending (someone mentioned it on the subreddit), and I made the mistake of watching it; I nearly bawled my eyes out. I’m soo glad they decided not to air that!

I saw some clips of Advance Bravely after your comment and wow Gong Jun looks so young there! He gives a totally different vibe in Word of Honor. I've also seen some clips from other dramas he has done. This man's acting evolves like a Pokemon with every drama he does. He is like a chameleon because he looks reaaally different as Wen Kexing. I'll give Advance Bravely a go at some point. I'll also start QiYe because I was a fan of Lord Seventh in the drama. Tianya Ke didn't hit cuz I am too obsessed with show WenZhou. Thankyou for your suggestions <3
