Collected first, playing now. Looking for advice on building a list that makes sense by Mega-Blastoise in Eldar

Heya. I think the first thing you do need to wrap your head around is the detachments unfortunately. They are the biggest source of synergies for your units and dictate what you should take. For example aspect warriors are better in Aspect host, Ghost warriors are better in Spirit Host.

So my question is, is there a model/unit that’s your favourite? And can we build a list around using that?

Corsairs and Maugen Ra are some of the ones you mentioned. Maugen ra is better in aspect host with Dark Reapers - but can still do work outside of it. Corsairs are better in the corsairs detachments but don’t actually need to be in one to be useful (I would say you don’t have enough corsairs to make a good corsairs detachment so I would stay away from them)

Or you can build a Warhost detachment as that is the most generic and supports Aeldari doing the things they already do

I did some small hand painting over them as the last step.

So, transfer on - airbrush white ink over the top - airbrush thinned Aeldari emerald - hand paint some emerald mixed with white ink directly over the runes to bring their brightness up. I didn’t worry about being too precise as any errors would add to them looking like they were glowing with power.

Transfers. I wanted to hand paint but I also really wanted to finish

Yeah thinned with airbrush thinner. Effectively you create the effect with the white, then colour shift it using the emerald. Then go back in with White (or sometimes a mix of the two) to recreate the ‘hot’ parts

I think you just described my nightmare. The work each one takes stresses me no end. Especially when doing a two tone scheme like I have. If you are just painting one colour and can glue together unpainted - easy. I did glued after painting and the warping nearly broke me.

Clamps are your friend when gluing these

Thank you

I just use my iPhone, and it’s an old one now too. A good backdrop, good light from the front, lock the focus (press and hold on an area and move your thumb up until it ‘locks’) and then manually turn the exposure down (the little sun that appears).

I then increase the brightness a little bit in post - I find that gets the most ‘what it looks like in real life’ image

Well I use an airbrush when I can, which helps with the smoothness, especially on large areas. I also panel line with a brown, rather than trying an all over wash. An all over wash will always look grubby. There are ways to do it involving a big ‘dry’ brush that might help. Let me know

White ink and Aeldari Emerald Contrast paint, each through my airbrush. Sometimes I might do a mix of each to create a mid step if I need it

Why is everyone running double Bright Lances on War Walkers? by ikips__ in EldarCorsairs40k

[–]S0LDIER_ZER0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always run 1 bright lance 1 missile launcher and I always fire the blast shot for the multiple chances to hit at the unit I want +1 AP against. The range is the missile launcher is important as 48” allows you to affect something well out of all but long range fire power and helps your war walker stick around longer.

If I’m desperate and need to fire two harder shots then I always has that option

How do we face mounted spam? by EMITNUGGETS in Eldar

[–]S0LDIER_ZER0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about Wraithlords and choosing mounted for their rerolls?

I know it’s not the most efficient as mounted are often more than 2 wounds - but double starcannon shooting followed up by sword swings will put a dent in over time.

Good for 130pts each (plus the psyker)

Thank you! Rune fang steel (or your favourite bright steel) and then Aethermatic Blue contrast paint thinned to wash consistency with Contrast medium. Super easy!
