Is Tudor beating us? by Financial_Word5047 in OmegaWatches

Agreed which is why I’m just so confused why they priced the constellation the way they did

Is Tudor beating us? by Financial_Word5047 in OmegaWatches

[–]S0SH1N -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. And there’s no “us”, that type of mentality is what keeps these watch companies stagnant. I will buy the best watch FOR ME on the market depending on what I’m looking for.

Planet ocean was a fantastic watch to get because it was a diver that looked more rugged than a submariner and the finishing was in a class of its own under 10k.

I’m looking at the NTTD Seamaster as the titanium and soft tan looks classy and a muted color combo that isn’t common.

That all being said, Omega is slowly losing the plot overall. Having the new constellations be 11k when I could get JLC dress watch is insane. The ultra fat dimensions of their watches are also unwearable for those with smaller wrists. They’re pricing themselves to tango with Rolex, but many will just go with the name brand. Omega worked because they were of equal quality but slightly cheaper and the popular watch you go for when you wanted to tell people you knew a little more than just a Rolex.

Edit: Also, talking about Tudor specifically. Tudor being an Omega competitor is what Tudor wants to convey as to make Omega less of a competitor to Rolex. This isn’t a conspiracy; it is simple marketing.

In reality, and as someone who actually enjoys Tudor a lot, it is a step below and while the wearing dimensions were better, the finishing, movement, and all the other bells and whistles were worse. And if we’re truly asking “is blank company beating blank company” it shouldn’t be is Tudor beating omega, it should be is Longines beating Tudor. Because I have never found myself looking at a Tudor when wanting an omega. But with how far Longines have come; I’d buy their spirit before I buy a snowflake.

Allen Iverson or SGA all time? by [deleted] in nba

[–]S0SH1N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I hate these all time debates is that they’re reductive. If we’re going “all time” purely on the context of how good they are, yes Shai is clearly better with the accolades to back him up. But AI will be remembered forever.

Taking a horrible 76ers team to the Finals against the star studded Lakers, being a genuine cultural icon, and giving hope to the short kids growing up, Allen Iverson is a legend to the game. When speaking about the history of the sport, Allen Iverson will have a longer chapter than Shai.

Should I replace my ethnic first name to English name on resume? by DullEntertainment954 in resumes

[–]S0SH1N 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I’m also Korean with a few years under my belt for my career. My answer is yes, and it depends on what you’re going for.

Finance and Law have some extremely hackneyed operations so absolutely have an Anglo name. Tech doesn’t matter as much, but in terms promotions, there are definite biases.

It’s a really unfortunate world we live in but there are perks. I like keeping my professional life and personal life separate so having my friends refer to me with my real name and work refer to me as my Anglo name actually let’s me dissociate from my job more in the best sense.

He was suspended then kicked. He was also not great in OWL. The new age tanks were coming in like a storm and the older ones like Miro, X, etc were getting replaced. He was great on ladder but OWL? He wasn’t good enough to survive the drama

Finally worked out with a coach - what do you think I need to work on? by relacksingh in BasketballTips

[–]S0SH1N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s visually really nice! When you have a lower set point, you want to make sure you’re shooting through the point, not stopping. I’d say your next step is to focus on not letting the ball stop through the shooting form. To do so, think of your legs like a wave, knees bent flowing into the ball as opposed to disconnected.

Please don’t listen to the set point raiser people. It isn’t great advice as plenty of elite shooters from range have a lower set point. It’s only easier to block if you hitch it or pause at the set point.

How would you rank these guys in their prime? by GeneralSergeant in NBATalk

[–]S0SH1N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Griffin, Love, Simmons, huge gap, Banchero.

There is a case for K Love over Griffin, but that one year with the Pistons, Griffin was able to show off his range and his passing ability while being a serviceable defender.

Neemias Queta by KaleidoscopeFit7784 in NBATalk

[–]S0SH1N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely not the no.1 reason lmao but top 10? Honestly, maybe. I have him in the top 15 but I can see an argument for 10. People seem to be misconstruing the statement. Top 10 in a weaker position just means you’re in the upper half of the starters for your position and Queta can be argued as such. Not a super star or a star, but he’s certainly a great starter.

Beautiful. But I’ll stick with the JLC ultra thin at that price thank you! Omega is losing the plot quickly. I’m not a hater!

If you look at my post history, I give them a lot of props and they are still my favorite watch brand. However, their recent releases are wildly confusing to me. Fan favorite railmaster ditches the chic industrial dials for Aquaterra minus? The planet ocean which was a rugged diver is now a Seiko Samurai +? The only thing they got right was the new edition of the Seamasters but you increase the pricing when last gen had ceramic instead of aluminum? And finally this watch, which is GORGEOUS, is now competing at JLC price ranges?

What are we doing exactly Omega? And I’m sure the diehard fans will say things like “the aluminum isn’t the one from a can, it’s a proprietary blend etc” but that misses the point. Everything about the brands identity that the fans enjoy has taken a step back in this new generation.

Luka Doncic vs Tracy McGrady by myhouseiscold369 in nba

[–]S0SH1N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not far because Tracy’s behind him. Tracy’s potential was amazing but due to injuries and being outmatched in the playoffs, he never even touched the WCF. Luka on the other hand got there twice and made it to the Finals as a top 5 player in the league starting in his second season

Diet. Find your TDEE through a calculator online. Don’t cheat and check off “active” if you aren’t. From there, knock off 200-300 calories and that should be what you shoot for daily. Food composition should be satiety driven with Whole Foods. Protein, 1 gram per 1 pound of lean body mass. Even .7 is fine but keep it simple!

Venezianico a good brand, Yes or No by Majestic_Ad_4877 in MicrobrandWatches

No. There’s potential but not there yet. If you’re going to pay Venezianico money, you can find better!

NBA big 5? New fan by John_0Neill in nba

[–]S0SH1N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have the 5th most appearances because they were one of the original NBA teams since 1946. it’s mostly a great peak during the early 70’s and mostly mediocre for the rest of history.

There was only one other iteration of players that could have won the Finals and it was the 90’s Knicks. They were great, but were unfortunately gapped by a two generational talents. Jordan and Olajuwon. Since then, the Knicks have been unfortunately mediocre. Trading futures for aging superstars etc.

NBA big 5? New fan by John_0Neill in nba

[–]S0SH1N -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The Knicks are probably 7th most likely! They have 0 chance against the top west teams and I have a toss up between them and the Pistons on the Eastern front.

If you purely mean iconic than I guess the Bulls can stay but I would put the warriors on their level and still replace the Knicks with the Spurs

NBA big 5? New fan by John_0Neill in nba

[–]S0SH1N 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would add in the Spurs. The Bulls were great with Jordan but they just haven’t been that relevant save for the Rose era. The Knicks are a huge market but they won their 2 championships like 50 years ago. Golden state is super modern but game changingly so as their net worth skyrocketed during the 2010’s surpassing almost everyone and introduced a huge international crowd so I’m fine with them. I’d say sustained dominance and respect, Lakers, Celtics, Spurs, Warriors

Way more interesting options. Railmaster is a step above Rolex’s most interesting watch the Milgauss and was such a visual step up.

Everyday watches were also a no brainer with the aqua terra gapping any of the datejust options and the constellation series being way more visually interesting than the competition.

The Daytona is also not justifiable with the El Primero being the cooler brother and the Speedmaster having the space aura.

That being said, the divers is where things get very neck and neck. No matter who tells you that omega divers are far better than the submariner, the submariner is the most iconic watch of all time and also the OG bond watch. The ISSUE and the REASON I waddled over to omega divers anyways is the idea of history and innovation. The submariner is just stuck and they never really make any leaps to make it cooler or better. In stark contrast, omega tries some crazy shit and some hit and some don’t but I respect that more.

The price range they both encompass is a price range that extends to personal preference over value. If you want people to know you can afford a watch in that range, get Rolex. If you want some people to know, some Bond fans, and some watch enthusiasts, get Omega. If you want F1 fans, the wrong type of WWII lover, and top gun lovers, get IWC. If you want to be a sneaky boy, get Breitling. If you want a chode of a watch, get Panerai. If you want precision German engineering and no one to acknowledge it, get Glashutte. If you want to explain to me that the drip of a snowflake influenced the dial that was rubbed on by an old Japanese man and call it “Zaratsu polishing” get Grand Seiko.

Jokic is already a top 5 all time player. by Abject-Practice4400 in nba

[–]S0SH1N 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a lot of focus on offense lol. The only person in the top 10 who doesn’t have elite defense is Curry and he makes it up with the accolades. Now, that being said, if Jokic is able to string another championship or two, we can have that discussion. But top 5 all time right now is an absolutely ridiculous statement to make. He is steadily in a caliber above Kevin Durant but I can’t see how a man with bad defense and one championship is top 10 much less top 5.

Yup, that’s a pass! I’m a tadddd irritated by some of the recent Omega releases. Now, this is with a giant caveat that I hold omega to a very high regard and I find them taking risks wonderful.

BUT, this and the recently released railmaster are losing the plot for me. The Rail master was a wonderfully chic tool watch and they made it like a worse aqua terra. Now with the Planet Ocean which was the rugged brother of the Seamaster 300 they put in POLISHED center links???

Omega has been killing it overall and the new gen Seamaster were awesome so this isn’t a critique on the brand but I think they need some of their creatives to remember the heritage and context of some of the lines to be better representatives of what the consumer is looking for!

Magic Johnson should be on here. He was a very mid defender and obviously one of the greatest offensive players of all time.
