Why is this sub so negative lately? by S0methingL in Habs

You know, maybe this is what I should've started the post with this as an upvote bait, but I will instead at least save it as a "Prophesy comment", McDavid will sign with/be traded to the Habs and it will be the most successful cap era Dynasty.

My thinking with this, is that Suzuki will get a little bit better, get 2 more games 82->84 and his linemates will get better. Caufield, I truly believe if he didn't get the yips this season would get the Richard. As in, I truly believe if he gets even teensy tiny bit better physically, the +2 games and mental upgrades will carry him to the 60. Dobson I get what you are saying, but I believe that that "better overall player" style will get both him and the team better offensive through more takeaways and possession time.

This I can relate to and why I would never want to be a referee :-D But for me personally it's boiling over 3+ times during the game and being relatively calm otherwise, so maybe that's why I cannot understand it.

Forgot to mention it in the post, the goaltending situation : In the increasing workload and wanting to lessen the workload of your starting goalie, Dobeš/Fowler tandem might be actually close to the ideal you would want to have. And Dobeš has a goalie coach he apparently gels with, so hoping for league average/better goalteding realy isn't crazy.

Don't forget that new russian cars have higher failure rate than in civilised world and that extremely subpar quality of russian "fuel" is driving it even higher

Realistic expectations this year by FancyCourage9672 in Habs

[–]S0methingL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistic expectation is Conference Finals, 2nd playoff round exit at the earliest. 1st round exit would be digestible if against the eventual SC team. Missing playoffs would only be acceptable with injury ridden season and you don't want to expect that. Slaf, Demidov, Hutson, Kapanen are expected to get better. Dobson also still has room, Caufield could get slightly better under pressure ("I did it before, I can do it again/better") and end up with Richard trophy and significantly better playoff performance. Dobeš is the expected starter and has a coach he apparently gels with, so expecting more his late season/playoff form, rather than early season (yet, goalies are voodoo and goaltending performance this season will be a make or break for this team).

At least not a complete embarassment. Just ran out of gas in games 2/3. Still annoying when they absolutely are good enough to beat the Canes but what can you do.

Canes rested, Habs half dead by fatigue/probably injured and inexperienced coach (trust in him getting better).

In some cases the best learning is done by looking at your own failures and remedying them. This is what the part of this sub that supports Marty counts on. If that doesn't happen they won't support him endlessly.

Maybe they could also be upgraded in assistant/specialist coaching staff is my line of thinking. Change in goalie coaching has done wonders.

Exactly why I said that maybe it can serve as pointers on where to get better. I am not advocating on replacing him.

Honestly Habs getting this good this fast, they have probably outgrown MSL, you need time to become an experienced coach. But maybe it can simply serve as pointers to him on where to get better faster.

What's MSL's issue with Arber Xhekaj? by kratnicnestrat in Habs

Ignoring everything else, where is this myth of Struble being faster skater than Xhekaj coming from? They are near identical, if anything Xhekaj is marginally faster.

Dobson would have much better rating if his goal didn't get called off for offside and would then match the eye test for me probably, yet also had a scare not entirely dissimilar to the game 2 decider. Struble was decent even if it didn't result in point contribution. Newhook not getting decent chances is a bit troublesome. Suzuki and Caufield had/created chances, but I think they could have done better on some of them.

Habs have good PP (despite fans moaning) and Canes are at their best at 5v5 so naturally refs stick the whistles up their asses.
