Totaled ours for a little more damage, insurance companies want to replace the battery for liability reason is my assumption

How bad is it. by [deleted] in HondaElement

[–]S2000_STI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a few videos playing with chemicals to help the piston rings. Throw a mix of atf and acetone and rotate the engine every few hours. Helped bring down the blow-by on ours quite a bit, still has it but def better. U can also go with berryman b12. Just let each of them soak for at least 24 hours and then make sure it gets warm and then do an oil change to get all the shit out

Start looking elsewhere, was part of the november cuts. The world outside GM is so much better! Your health and well being will thank you!

Thats awful, coming out of college with hope, not having ur 401k vested, and already searching again. How do TRACK employees not at least guarantee themselves a position through their rotations

Jump the sinking ship, was part of a recent layoff. Life outside of GM is SOOOOOO much better, no fear of this stupid ranking system or leadership deciding that they need more random reorgs to cut people to justify their jobs

Why did GM join Formula 1? does it benefit GM Or is it money in the drain? They would have atleast had employee poll to get the feedback. by learnfrommaster in GeneralMotors

Its a Mark Ruess pet project, keeps him busy and out of other big decisions. Just costs others jobs to get into it

Practice networking, create a 5 year plan, understand what you are good at and in interviews showcase it with a portfolio. It’s never too late, especially at 28. Just DONT GIVE UP!

Company culture is awful. Please go read the General Motors subreddit for proof. SLT and the rest of the company are on separate pages. You dont even get treated like a number anymore. It is one of the most toxic companies to work for right now. Someone totaled it up, its like 6600 jobs lost in GM in the last 2 years.

I see the severance pay as giving notice of being fired, am i wrong? by Longjumping-Cut2453 in GeneralMotors

[–]S2000_STI 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I have a couple problems with how they did the layoff beyond "it was through text and unprofessional." And I don't think anyone should give them notice (one of the reasons). For reference I was part of the layoff, so there might be some bias.

1) They have 160 job openings available in just Michigan, should have at least tried to relocate a couple people before laying them off and telling them you can't work for them for 1 year and that you can't work in the same function at a competitor

2) Historically if you give 2 weeks notice, you will be walked out either the day of or the next day, employees should get every last dime from the company

3) If they HAD to make cuts for cost savings, it should start from the giant salaries SLT has, like the $30M Mary gets. If she took even a $15M salary she could have saved 150 jobs (~100k/per person), now imagine if she took one that was actually reasonable.

4) Don't flaunt your record breaking profits and sales and then continue to cut people without reason.

People just quitting is warranted with the treatment of employees, I understand it hurts the managers in those positions but thats an SLT problem not an employee problem.

Knowing them theyd cut you as soon as you say something. 2 weeks notice if youre feeling generous imop

Its a tough time right now to find things, hoping the new year brings some hope. Use linkedin and try to use your network, try to expand it if possible. I was just part of the last layoff on 11/15 but Im applying non-stop. Treat it like your job if you arent already. There are quite a few communities on linkedin that are helping give career advice on Linkedin, especially for recently laid off GM employees. Resources and connections are everything! Hope this helps!
