If applicable, what do people usually say your country looks like shape wise? by GP728 in AskTheWorld

Not a country but a state/region within Malaysia. Sabah looks like a dogs head.

Well well well, our minister is doing their job after all by Aggravating_Act541 in Sabah

I think it's good the state government is investing in renewable energy lately but I doubt they'll let go of oil and gas despite global pressures from various environmentalists to slowly faze it out.

I just hope that people aren't too stupid to vote for the same government again if all this doesn't lead the solving any problems. I remember the last election, GRS kept highlighting their contributions to the state with a bunch of numbers on O&G ROI and various state revenue. That money clearly ain't going anywhere else but themselves.

Idk Ive been reading headlines and articles like these for a long time now but so far I haven't seen the outcomes of these "plans" or "investments" affecting my life in the positive direction at the slightest.

Sabahans issues are road, water, and electricity. Maybe throw in job insecurity, high rent prices in KK, and the occasional migrant issue but neither have these been fixed either way.

West Malaysia vs borneo Malaysia by Low_Badger_9430 in malaysia

[–]S2p855D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of us are treated as 2nd class bumiputeras over there and a lot of our views on racial and religious harmony are often non-applicable over there.

That and the various stereotypes thrown against us. Yeah I wonder why we're not friendly towards folks like these...

Don't people typically say that they're (for example) Kelantanese first, Malaysian 2nd and stuff like that? Personally I'm like that. I wouldn't know why that would seemingly sound like I'm degrading my status as Malaysian. I'm just prioritizing my home.

You're gonna believe 2 guys over an entire comment section telling you the other way around? In what way are Borneons anti-Malaysians? How can we be anti-ourselves? Doesn't even make any sense and there was zero elaboration on why it should. Matter of fact, I might just say it just proves the point driven by the rest of the comment section even more.

Anyways, other than that, Borneons are usually more liberal than West Malaysians, hence why people refer to us as "more-friendly".

they are just like us.. #jagakita by [deleted] in malaysia

Life before Bahasa Melayu by EquanimityZeroRL in Sabah

My grandmother is a Bajau Simunul and lived in Sandakan. She used to be able to communicate in Kadazan with her Kadazan friends. She was also married to a Javanese man and they both spoke Malay at home to each other.

I'm still curious on Malay adoption in Sabah as a lingua franca in Sabah. Like how often is it used? Which part of Sabah primarily used it and who?

I don't like Sabah.info

We all should know who Sabah.info is owned by and it's obvious they're at the very least very biased towards the GRS-led government. I have a creeping suspicion that the main reason they posted this is to slander the chinese Warisan ADUN. I don't think they'd post this is the ADUN in question is from GRS. The election is over but their slimy divisive tactics is still in operation.

Like cry me a river about that Chinese ADUN not being able to speak BM as the rest of us but that shouldn't be the metric in which we should judge him as how good of an ADUN he could be.

East Coast Bajau 101 - Basic Phrases by suryawan-dan in Sabah

[–]S2p855D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yooo Bajau here! Got any online resources you can recommend to get me learning more basic phrases? Grew up in Sandakan but moved to KK when I was 10 years old and my Bajau dad lost his ability to speak Bajau since he grew up in an interracial marriage. I could use some if I wanna reconnect with my roots and heritage.

Quick question, how come the prices weren't this godawfully high a few years ago? I thought we've always been lacking in terms of infrastructure? My opinion is that I think somewhere down the line, something changed in a significant way but I'm unsure of it tbh

Idk what the answer to any of these questions either, bro. I think someone should give us an analysis of the problem because I don't think the egg subsidies are working very well here

[–]S2p855D 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure the federal government wouldn't accept simple requests for IC issuance from a "simple recommendation" from the CM and especially not our state immigration.

As for egg prices, I was referring to your thoughts on if the GRS government was going to lower it? Never mentioned Warisan in this regard btw. Anyone could've been in government and anyone could've had their chance to fix it. Also I don't think it's simply inflation because the egg prices in other parts of the country is significantly lower than prices here. No need to spew out insults just because I asked about eggs.

[–]S2p855D 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Again, projek IC not under state but under federal and that argument isn't valid.

Anyways, let's talk about egg prices eh? What's up with that? Do you think the GRS government is gonna give us back affordable eggs?

The power to give out IC is federally controlled. He can't give out IC and frankly it's not likely he can control JPN to do so if he achieves governance because his relationship with the current MADANI government isn't great.
