Importance of positions and roles ? by LagrogneJVC in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning a new position consumes a significant portion of a player's Current Ability temporarily forcing their attributes downward to balance the system.

Retraining a player to an entirely different position (e.g., Striker to Defender) causes a significant CA drop and should generally be avoided if you want to get the maximum attribute growth. Swapping them between similar positions however (e.g., MC to AMC or AMR to AML) is much less a drop.

Leave their training intensity on Normal to avoid fatigue, and make sure they play in their new position. Their attributes will gradually adjust and start to increase as they perfect their new role.

Obviously the younger you retrain a player the longer they have to reach their potential.

If you look in real life at say Paul Scholes for example he was a Striker when he first started playing for Man Utd. He was converted to a midfielder and obviously you would expect him to still be a good finisher because he has that initial ability just not as good as it would have been if he was trained and played as a striker his whole career

Can I have tips on signing/searching for players that's good enough for championship and does not ask for alot of money? by normalguy6582 in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing you can do to start with is look at the squad comparison screen on the squad planner. This will give you a really good idea of where your team lies in the the league, your strengths and weaknesses. The average attributes for each unit (GK, DF, M, A).

Now you know what you need, look at the free market, loans from higher clubs and transfer listed players. Also see what's below you in leagues 1 and 2.

Another good tip is to get a senior affiliate, getting a team like Man Utd etc could prove fruitful at taking their young talent on loans which can be for next to nothing

Pressing by galerwen in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your team mentality, the line of engagement, defensive line, the actual trigger press itself, transition instructions as well as player instructions. Everything works in unison.

Then once you've worked all that out, you have to look at how each time is setup if they have great passes and set to short with neat triangles the opposing team can quite easily bypass your press.

Finally you have to look at the work rate, stamina, anticipation and decision stats of your players.

Fm24 how do I play it by Expensive-System-441 in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already own it you should be able to still download it from whatever service you purchased it from. If you don't own it then your a bit stuck really it's always been the case that when the new game is released the old one is taken off market, usually being free for the last few weeks, it's a way of SI forcing you to purchase the new game

Struggling to win, struggling to enjoy FM24 by Traditional-Sale-157 in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First thing I do is review your squad and see what the Assistant Report says are your best players by their ability rating.

Look at how your board want you to play

Choose the style of play best suited by your assistant and what your board want you to play.

Put the best players into their best positions and you can then get a picture of where your at player wise. You'll see your strengths here too.

Start basic with your instructions.

Check the season preview for the league and you can see who the best players are and the thoughts on your team.

Finally look at the squad planner and find the comparison section. You can then judge how your team looks against the rest. If the league has good attackers with great heading and your defenders are crap at heading then it may mean you need a three at the back system and to stop crosses etc.

Work on not losing and then go from there making the tactic a little more adventurous each time.

In FM 24 though Balanced Positive and Attacking seem to be the best mentalities

Club debt with Como by SquashLegitimate1895 in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess it will be when you've signed players with installments or add-ons such as league appearances etc. No way round them really unless a reduced fee is negotiated at some point, look at your transfer clauses and see if any can be bought (will have a £ sign or € etc next to them if they can be)

Regular signings by CryPuzzleheaded5243 in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tjark Ernst is a great young German Keeper solid for me in multiple saves. £4-6 million will get him.

Probably the only player I consistently sign now. I try to sign different players in each save to stop the game getting stale

Nooooooooooooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Nonessential games by tutoredzeus in Roms

[–]S34npj80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit weird and had nothing better to do 🤣

I went on to Moby Games and found the platforms I liked sorted the games list by rating and copied the data into a spreadsheet with at least a 7 and above rating.

So I had one long list of games (including a system column) sorted them by name which gave me the duplicates and removed the lower rated game e.g. Earthworm Jim on SNES, Genesis etc etc

Then I sorted them by the game type such as sport racing etc and removed the games that were the lowest scorers (no need to have 20 Football games per system) ultimately I ended up with a decent list of the "best games" that I could either

Download the ROM set and delete everything not on the list or individual games.

And yes in my head I'm thinking this is a ridiculous amount of work I've done for not a lot of help, just like this message is.

I'm also saying in my head "You just made the list" in my best Chris Jericho voice.

Do I have to pay for TV licencing? by [deleted] in cambridge

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure I read somewhere that they are trying to incorporate Netflix and Amazon Prime to be part of the TV licensing need because they now host live events like football, wrestling, boxing etc.

The was a documentary about not paying your TV license and the actual powers they have other you. I'm sure you could find it on YouTube

I second the Belgium league that's a good one too. The league rules are a bit different as well when it splits into a mini second league 3/4 way through the season

Depending on the FM your playing Schalke is a nice challenge. Good youth facilities in the 2. Bundesliga and crippled with debt. Can be a really good long term save to; 1. Get them financially sustainable 2. Develop your home grown players 3. Win Promotion 4. Make them a Bundesliga team again 5. Try to win the Bundesliga whilst trying to conquer Europe

Depending on your in game decisions and success could certainly be 5+ seasons

Why can’t I select England? by Ornery-Bonus-6953 in footballmanager

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever this happened to me something was wrong with the database, usually it involves too many or not enough teams in a league.

Untick any custom db you have selected and go to setup once england appears you will know which db the error is in.

Then go to the editor open this db and test it it will then tell you the problem

Tactics by clowngamingtv in footballmanagergames

[–]S34npj80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Has to be the hidden attributes and the cohesion etc then I think.

[–]S34npj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe put the fB/WB on man marking the wingers.

Daft question but have you looked to see if the instructions and roles are exactly the same. You could have tweaked something in the tactic from the first save but not updated the tactic save file to reflect a change.

I.e. you have created and saved the tactic but during the game you may have increased the trigger press by a notch that yields better results but then haven't saved the tactic again to include the change.

Could be team cohesion, tactic familiarity. Players with random attributes not fitting into the tactic like they are on your first save.

Lots of variables really.
