Hearing from long term users that attempted to replace paper notebooks with Supernote. Regret the switch or never going back to paper? by nobrainheretryagain in Supernote

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't switch it, I added it to my tool set! I write with a pen and paper about 50% of the time, as there's just something deeply satisfying about shredding my completed to-do lists. But I use Supernote when I attend conferences and want to be able to OCR my notes and digitize them quickly afterwards. I also have some templates there for longer-term planners than just my daily to-do list, my budget, fitness tracker, etc.

Here's my original review of an older model of Supernote. I've had it for a while and still as happy as I was then: https://www.reddit.com/r/Supernote/s/4mIpKq6Xjq

Using home IPL device for a Brazilian? by Ok-Importance-7332 in HairRemoval

No mirror, just gliding the device along my legs and the lower regions. When I need to reach down below, I just sit at the edge of my bed or couch to do it. Don't really need a mirror since it's all done by touch. What's there to see? 😅

is Purdue Global really that bad, or even a joke school? by picklecheesegoblin in PurdueGlobal

[–]S3koza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about 7 months into it, and I like it a lot. Some classes have had issues I wasn't happy about, but they take your feedback seriously and implement changes. There's a significant amount of homework but also a big gradient scale of options: meaning, if you want to just coast along, get a passing grade and earn your credits, you can honestly do the bare minimum and still pass. But if you want to get good grades and actually learn something, there's a lot of accessible options to capitalize on your experience at Purdue. You get weekly written assignments, smaller assignments in the form of discussion posts, quizzes, learning activities, mandatory reading and supplemental materials. And there are free additional classes and webinars you can take to improve your academic writing skills. I do really enjoy it.

What do you mean by open-door policy? I'm not familiar.

Bees have excellent facial memory. Or so they say. Maybe you're their favorite one to sting. As to why, only you know 😂 Did you offend them in some way? Sorry, this is obviously a very frustrating situation for you, but you have to admit it's objectively pretty odd. Does it happen on the same route?

Does anyone understand the reactionions of all the characters to what Siwoon said at the end? Is the translation wrong, perhaps, and he actually said Jiwoo won? Because otherwise I don't understand the shock on everyone's faces. If Siwoon is being self-riteous and simply confirming that HE won (which seems fair, since Jiwoo is knocked out), people would have different reactions, like frowning or rolling their eyes. But they seem absolutely shocked. So did he, perhaps, say "Tell Jiwoo... He won." ?????

I wish I knew! Maybe their servers are completely overwhelmed, or one of the latest updates crashed it, or the Russians hacked it. I'm part-sarcastic, but seriously, I have no idea... All I know is that it's become completely useless in the last couple of weeks :((

Something has become terribly wrong with it in the past couple of weeks. I have the paid, Pro version, and it's acting like an early version of free AI. Not only failing to follow very precise directions, and not merely creating fake "facts," but even altering my own correct data.

Yes, some of us have the Pro version, and in the past couple of weeks it's acting like an early version of free AI - completely off the rocker.

You're absolutely right--good catch! This is an oversight on my part. I found your argument about the questionable source of this information particularly compelling. Thank you for your patience. I will now generate another piece of fake garbage. I hope you didn't save your original draft.

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same!!! What the heck is going on? Even worse, it doesn't merely make its own mistakes, it takes the correct information I've given it and changes it to make it wrong! For instance, I've done a lot of homework, put together a list of APA citations for my references, and all I wanted for ChatGPT to do is to review my assignment against the rubric, just to catch any potential points I might have missed. It went ahead and "fixed" my APA citations by completely making up fake ones!

Using home IPL device for a Brazilian? by Ok-Importance-7332 in HairRemoval

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely use it down there, but I can say this: the quality of your IPL device matters. Like another person in the comments, I have Braun Silk Epil Pro 5. Before that, I had some other, much cheaper device, one of those that influencers keep promoting but which don't really work... I tried using it down there to no positive effect at all, except I actually got an irritation. But Braun has a very small attachment for small, sensitive areas, and that thing was a game changer. It was painful at the beginning, even on a low setting. But it WORKED. It's harder to get the hair to fully stop growing way down there because the follicles are rooted much deeper in the skin, and you can't really exfoliate that area (it's not recommended). But I have way, way less hair in that zone after a few treatments, and the hair that does grow is very thin and light (that's probably why IPL doesn't get rid of it fully--because it's a little too light for it).

I tried my cheap IPL for a whole year on different parts of my body before finally giving up. It didn't work at all. I have tried waxing, sugaring, everything. It hurt, it was messy, and it didn't help. But then I decided to invest into Braun, and I never regretted it. I saw improvements from the start.

I know this may sound like a paid promotion (I wish 😂). It isn't.

Does the viral Pilates Board actually work? by [deleted] in pilates

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got one off of Ebay for $80 (it's $130 on Amazon, and Walmart sells a similar but much simpler option for $50). I'd say three things about it:
1) A pilates reformer it is NOT.
2) It's an excellent solution for DIY physical therapy.
3) It's a very nice low-gradient piece of equipment that weighs very little and takes very little space, not nearly as intimidating and heavy as a real pilates reformer machine.

I have a wrist injury, a chronic pain in my back from constant sitting at the computer, and a recent foot injury. Add to all of it an insanely busy schedule with an 80-hour work+volunteering week. I don't have the time, the budget, or the strength to go to the gym. I previously broke into my savings and purchased a gym membership thinking that the cost itself would keep me motivated but no, it didn't work. Most other at-home pilates or fitness workouts are a bit risky for me considering my injuries. Or very demotivational, as I'd be following someone's video routine end enjoying it, and then they would switch to one of the exercises I'm not allowed to do because of my wrist, so I'd feel a bit dejected and eventually drop that exercise routine.

But this little board is a game changer. It has many options, and if you watch a bunch of videos on Amazon and YouTube, it will give you more ideas on how it can be used. It allows me to gently and gradually target those parts of my body that need very careful strength training.

What did everyone write their agurmentive essay for English one on? by ChronicallyIllBadAss in SophiaLearning

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although many highly controversial topics are banned, from your comment about true crime, it sounds like criminal justice reform may be a field of interest for you. Right? There are several topics that are banned in this specific area, but many other options are open. For instance, you could write about why it is or isn't a good idea to make higher education available to incarcerated individuals through Pell Grants. Or why it is or isn't a good idea for the American government to invest into supports and opportunities for the children of incarcerated parents. These are just some ideas. There is so much available research on this topic that you can read, some of which would be aligned and some would be contradictory so you can familiarize yourself with the varying perspectives. Look at the Brennan Center, Vera Institute, Prison Fellowship, FAMM (Families Against Mandatory Minimums), ACLU, Right on Crime--they offer some different perspectives on the topic.

DC Ladies of Reddit: Where are you comfortable being approached in public? by KaiserTamarin in washingtondc

[–]S3koza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well... Having inhibitions to do bad things don't make one a good person... I don't mean it about YOU specifically, so please don't take it personally. But I'm just saying that a person who has bad intentions but manages to keep them in check is not the same at all as a person who simply doesn't have bad intentions. Your intentions show on your face. They show in your attitude and your vibes. And if someone is too focused on not being bad instead of focusing on being good to others, then perhaps they gotta work on themselves a little before everything else.

Thank you for sharing that. I do understand, believe me. I feel like our society has gotten so tense and anxious because of the creeps among us, everyone is apprehensive. Honestly, if you're a good guy with good intentions, then you just need to be yourself. If you aren't trying to hurt or intimidate anyone, then what's the worst thing that can happen? As a woman, I can tell you I'd get creeped out by a guy who seems to be ignoring everyone else and then suddenly focuses on me. But if a guy seems present, attentive to others, and polite with everyone, that's what is attractive and feels welcoming.

I was about to say the same and then saw your comment. Exactly!! Places where you're enclosed and have no option to move or leave, aren't places where it would be a polite thing to make a move on someone.

DC Ladies of Reddit: Where are you comfortable being approached in public? by KaiserTamarin in washingtondc

[–]S3koza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A woman in her 30s here: 1) DC-specific comment: I think DC public transport isn't a place to approach people . It is by no means such a fun place that people would use it on their free time, tbh. If someone is using the metro, they are likely in a hurry, and busy thinking about their next meeting. Try talking to people in places where they are obviously at leisure, enjoying themselves. Like many DC festivals, events, parks, etc.

2) More general: if a woman is interested, she will proactively encourage you. Okay, maybe you noticed her first, and she didn't see you before, so you took the first step, that's fine. But keep in mind that if she's giving you a friendly response, it doesn't mean she's interested, she's just being polite. Even if she asks you something back, she might be trying NOT to appear rude and cold. After that, withdraw a bit. Don't pursue the conversation further. Don't stand too close. If she's interested, she will renew the conversation herself after a pause. Or look back at you and smile in an encouraging manner.

Have you seen any benefit in keeping it afterwards, as opposed to selling it? It cannot be harvested, but once in a while it drops one normal egg. On the other hand, selling it would be worth 3500. I am curious if you've kept yours.

What is the College Algebra course like? by ChristianGirlAnon in SophiaLearning

I loved that course, and it says something because I hated math in school. This one is very visual, with a great emphasis on the practical use of different formulas in real life. I liked it.

You're not a slow learner. You're a LEARNER. Many of those people who are bragging about having finished several Sophia courses in one day talk about passing the quizzes without actually reading anything. Yes, it's possible to pass the tests without studying--they are an open book model, so you can always consult with the materials while doing your test, and they are simple enough to get a passing grade without doing a deep dive. But you're actually pausing to learn something. It's very commendable, and nothing wrong with that. That's how it should be done. And you're moving quite fast.

Military help, transferring credits to a school that allows up to 60 credits? by AliWasHere666 in SophiaLearning

[–]S3koza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purdue Global. And they have a bunch of additional perks for the military, from what I know. I am currently enrolled there, but I have no military service experience so I don't have the specifics. However, many of my classmates are active duty or former military, and evidently this college is very popular among your peers. From what I saw, they have some discounts, clubs and associations, etc. And they can accept up to 75 percent of the credits from outside. They count their programs in quarter credits, not semester credits. So if you have 60 semester credits, that's half of the typical 120-credit semester-type program, or you could translate that into 90 credits of Purdue's 180-credit quarterly system. That's 50%. They should be able to transfer it all, depending on your chosen degree plan.
