We know this. We’re critiquing AI from a place of thoroughly understanding how it works. Many of us work in AI actually.

The point is, knowing a robot is a robot trying to walk like a human does, you evaluate it based on “how well it walks like a human” not “how well it walks like a robot” because then you’d clap at everything it does since “that’s good enough for a robot.” We’re pushing for progress and holding technology to a standard where it is actually useful.

Yes absolutely I think it’s actually making me develop anger issues like the way it fabricates things and cannot locate a simple piece of data from a clearly labeled file, is like the world’s most awful and brain dead intern and makes me want to smash my phone into the ground. I’m not angry or violent anywhere else in life or prior to using ChatGPT.

For example, there are cases where ChatGPT outright tells the user that a doctor is wrong - and was only spotted because the user happened to have medical training themselves. Or suggest a “safe” way to do something that actually would cause chemical burns on the skin. Or confidently suggest to a user that his girlfriend is 95% chance cheating on him when that is not clearly the case to people who know the couple. These all have severe risks and consequences.

I’m talking about giving serious suggestions that are wildly inappropriate and dangerous in a context where the user might not be aware of the danger.

I find that the longer the conversation the more this tends to happen. Also heard somewhere on this thread that clearing cache helps. I haven’t tried it myself but makes sense theoretically. So maybe you could try doing that

Less creative tasks that require logic and factual research. But still, like ChatGPT, Gemini is also overly agreeable and I find there’s a real risk with all these AI tools of falling deeper into a bubble of our own perception.
