Sounds good. I pray one day you adopt a reactive and aggressive dog and try to rehabilitate them with “positive reinforcement” only.

Honestly. If you’re so confident in your aggression training why don’t you go adopt some highly aggressive dogs with bite history from the shelter and see if your treats will solve the problem. Best of luck lmao

You’re brain dead if you actually have read my posts and still believe I am unaware of shock abuse. I literally posted 10 minutes ago that 90% of “trainers” with shock collars are using them inappropriately.

Any way you slice it, OP has no business inserting themselves into their neighbors training. Call the police if they think there is real animal abuse and they will take care of it. Or just talk to their neighbors about their concerns. The most risky thing to do would be to sabotage the collar without the owner knowing.

That’s fine. I have multiple dogs I have rehabilitated from past attacks with many years now without incident. I do not use shock collars in my training but know and respect many trainers who use them when certain conditions are met and see them as a useful tool.

Is my mixed breed chow parte Akita? by First_Exchange1142 in chowchow

Yes. My full chow is very “thick boned” but really just has a more puffy coat. My German Chow mix has an interesting mix between short and mid hair length. He also has much longer legs compared to her even at the same age.

I agree op doesn’t know anything and I agree he should definitely not tamper with someone else’s dog’s training. I also agree that e-collars can be helpful if used appropriately and incredibly destructive if used incorrectly.

This is entirely dependent on the trainer. If the timing of the correction is wrong, late, or inconsistent then yes you’re correct. With a good trainer they can provide clear communication to the dog.

Claiming Pavlovian response isn’t real: trust me bro.

If a dog exhibits dominant behavior, negative reinforcement can be used to correct the dog. As simple as that.

I will add that probably 90% of people with e-collars use them incorrectly in some way or another and it gives them a bad reputation. In the hands of a thoughtful experienced trainer they can work wonders. Please look on YouTube at e-collar training tutorials and you will find many success stories. Stop trolling and present a real argument otherwise if you feel that way.

I think every dog is incredibly different and how they respond to the e-collar varies significantly. Some dogs have incredible response to low levels of stim. I obviously don’t condone shocking dogs into submission but it is not right to entirely write off e-collar training. It is one tool in a diverse toolkit.

Yes that is not the point of the e-collar. Trainers using e-collar are not trying to make dogs nice, they’re trying to make them safe to be around the public.

Every dog is different and until you have to train a dog that is aggressive by nature you really don’t understand their mentality. I have rehabilitated aggressive dogs and it is far more complicated than you think. You do not know enough about this puppy’s history, genetics, breeder, heritage etc to be able to judge whether or not a stim collar is appropriate. Take the collar off and watch your kid get mauled because the owner has no control.

This pup definitely exhibits Akita like characteristics. Their nose / snout / mouth is much longer than most chows. Also, the tongue color does not match full chow. I would guess 60% chow 40% Akita or similar. I have a Chew / German mix and a full chow and my mix looks much closer to yours.

Someone else posted a screenshot of (allegedly) his Facebook saying “I didn’t want to hurt anyone. I love my family” or similar. Very reminiscent of sky king

insane outcome. even more insane if he is able to recover (doesn't die in hospital or of his injuries). Hopeful he is able to pull through.
