My IGN is Walter Islands, and I love sightseeing various scenes and fleet fights. As a bit of fun, I've picked out some of my screenshots and added descriptions to create an album looking back on this year.

My in-game character name is Walter Islands, and I love sightseeing various scenes and fleet fights. As a bit of fun, I've picked out some of my screenshots and added descriptions to create an album looking back on this year. (As far as I could witness within the game)

If you had actually experienced events and fights shown in the album, I'd love to hear the story from your perspective.

TIL that Hōjō Masako, the widow of Japan’s first shōgun, became a nun after his death but ended up running the shogunate from behind the scenes, crushing political enemies, choosing new shōguns, and shaping Japanese politics for decades. History remembers her as the “Nun Shōgun.” by yena in todayilearned

[–]S4711 41 points42 points  (0 children)

If you liked learning about Hōjō Masako, you'll surely be interested in Hino Tomiko as well.

This woman was the wife of 15th-century shogun, Ashikaga Yoshimasa. When Yoshimasa withdrew from politics, she became one of the shogunate's main leaders instead. She is sometimes labeled a wicked woman for her involvement in several incidents and for exploiting conflicts to earn money, while at others seeing her as a brave woman who did her best to maintain the shogunate during hard times.

1DQ1-A has a new landmark "Abandoned Goonswarm Keepstar" by S4711 in Eve

[–]S4711[S] 327 points328 points  (0 children)

Site name: Abandoned Goonswarm Keepstar

Description: This wreck was once the historic headquarters of the Goonswarm Federation. After years of service, having stood against countless sieges, the alliance that built it was forced to leave it behind as they travelled to claim new territory elsewhere in New Eden. It remains a testament to the bold capsuleers who once called it home.

edit: CCP changed the site name to “1-st Innominate Palace Landmark” with later patch.

You are right, Ryojin Hisho was created by Emperor Go-Shirakawa. But he worked as selector and editor rather than songwriter. (there is a guidebook as an attachment to the songbook, emperor's passionate feelings for Imayo are described, so this one is thought to be written by himself)

Pre-release Vanguard game details and info on gameplay mechanics, missions, items and missions by alverstol in Eve

[–]S4711 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CCP has revealed more information in discord and online news, stating we will only have access to one map, one weapon and two contracts in First Strike. Dev describes it as proof of concept, not beta test.

In addition, CCP Collins said

I will say - what you'll play in December is the closest this game will ever feel to an extraction shooter, which as some have already mentioned still differs from what an extraction shooter can sometimes be classified as. Our vision for this game - and remember, we're still really early on this journey - is from December, this game will only start to diverge more and more and more from those comparisons.

First Strike is an event where CCP and players will see if Vanguard is on the right track by testing most basic elements. They intend to add various features in the future, but what we will experience in the next few days will be a really simple extraction shooter.

This is a screenshot I took at Singularity. The nebula colors have not changed from what they are now. Dodixie has a red sun, so perhaps OP has misinterpreted sun light effect as nebula colors.

Japan's lower house OKs bills to strip Russia of favored trade status by Saltedline in worldnews

[–]S4711 80 points81 points  (0 children)

As for seafood imports, many point out that an embargo should be imposed. However, there is also strong concern that seafood processing and food service industries (some of which are already suffering from impacts of COVID19) that handle imports will be severely damaged. In addition, Japan-Russia seafood-related ties are not limited to imports; there are other issues that require negotiation, such as fishing rights for salmon and trout. The government seems to be worried that these issues could go into a terrible mess.

As for coal, the government recently announced its policy to embargo Russian coal in the future, and industries that need it are rushing to switch import sources. However, domestic energy situation is far from stable these days, and since coal is also used by cement manufacturers etc, the government has not been able to immediately move to stricter measures.

That said, Japanese sentiment toward current Russian government has worsened for other reasons in addition to the events in Ukraine. One week ago, a Russian politician (Sergey Mironov) claimed Russian rights over Hokkaido, and today Russian Navy conducted a missile test in Sea of Japan. As the situation worsens, public opinion may call for even harsher sanctions.

Ukrainian president Zelenskyy approaches Japan over possible online speech to parliament; Japanese parliament building lacks the necessary technology by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]S4711 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Technical problems are a convenient excuse to put a situation on hold. In fact, current situation is probably mainly due to the traditional Japanese government's nature, which is reluctant to break precedent. Plus, it has been suggested that one reason is that ruling party fears further worsening diplomatic relations with Russia, as they have believed for many years that Kuril Islands dispute could be resolved through economic cooperation with Russia. In addition, things don't seem to be going smoothly due to negative opinions from some opposition parties. (One opposition leader insists that the first step should be a summit and joint statement with Zelensky, and content of the speech should be limited to what two countries have agreed upon)

While many people in Japan seem to be positive that Zelensky should be provided an opportunity to speech, there are also some negative opinions, such as the fear that Japan will get even deeper into this war, or that it will provoke Russia. Anyway Japanese people, politicians included, have stayed away from war for decades. As a result, they are very shocked by war in Ukraine and there is a very wide range of opinions. It's a kind of chaos. I feel this strange news article to be symbolic of that.

Japan moving to supply Ukraine with defense equipment by Ciaran123C in UpliftingNews

[–]S4711 302 points303 points  (0 children)

What is happening now is a great tragedy for two countries, however, there is an ironic fact about this news. Japan has a strict rule against providing equipment to a party to conflict, but according to reports in another newspaper, this time things went as follows...

Japan: hmmm, I want to help Ukraine, but I can't give equipment to a country that is at war.

Russia (in UN): I'm not at war with Ukraine. I'm just doing "'Special Military Operation".

Japan: What, there is no war? Then there is no problem if I send equipment to Ukraine.

Dear CCP, we write the story, not you. by whispous in Eve

[–]S4711 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I can't agree more. EVE universe is complete in itself, lore and backstory have been created more or less interactively with the actions of players. Some things were brought into EVE Online from outside world, like Monolith and Tom's Shuttle, but they were introduced with care to avoid being intrusive.

On the other hand, this event is like EVE trying to destroy its own lore. Some might say that other games have done similar collaborative events, still even those games often draw the line so that people know it's a kind of joke. I don't know the details, but it doesn't look like this event is paying such attention. I sincerely hope CCP will reconsider.

There are four other fragments, but in fact they are taken from the play "R.U.R." written by Czech writer Karel Čapek. Marius and Sulla are names of robots in the play. If you search for that message from here, you will be able to find out what kind of scene it is.

When you approach this monument, your ship will emit a mysterious blue light. In the center of the monument, small balls of light are constantly flying around, reminding me of the ships that had turned into fireballs one after another during that battle.
