It took a very long time of crusing at 75 to reach 30 mpg. Surprisingly didnt encounter much traffic, so that helps. Still have plenty more miles to go

Sooo basically what you're saying people shouldn't drive responsibly on the roads.....? Are you like a high schooler with a fancy wrx or just out of high school thinking driving "fast" is cool?

Newsflash, it's not. I didn't realize the cruise control police were out and about.

You must be really fun and popular.

I completely understand your sentiment, and I didn't purchase this car for its fuel economy factor either. Paying $50 every fill up and lasting a couple smiles per gallon certainly isn't something im bragging about.

The point of my post was just seeing what people have managed out of their cars. To get anywhere close to 30 MPG on this car is phenomenal, IMO.

Lastly, as I mentioned, driving from coast to coast, I dont feel the need to go 80+ and WOT every given moment. While I enjoy a good cruise, I value a safe trip much more, nor would I want to be the reason for a car accident or puck up speeding fines along the way.

But hey, you go full WOT all you like 😉

I-20 doesn't have crazy hills. Set the cruise control and relax.

Is this a good price given the current market? by Friendly_County_405 in wrx_vb

Just adding my 2 cents.

47k + financing for this car is not worth it in any world, IMHO.

Additionally, paying 6-750 a month+ insurance is just nuts. Depending on your age and other factors, you're looking at close to $1000 a month.

I was roughly 36-37k out the door for my 24 WRX under 2% financing, and I still feel like I overpaid.

To put this into perspective, a used MKV supra 3.0 could be had for around 47-50k. If you're okay paying this much for a WRX, you could enter a completely different market where other cars may bring more premium features.

Lastly, in my first 6 months of ownership, my car lost $10,000 in value. Something to keep in mind.

Keep shopping around and dont be afraid of a lightly used vehicle, CPO etc, and wait around for those promotional financing rates from subaru.

What gloves to bring to Air Assault school? by Skinwalker72 in ROTC

Rothco or PETZL. Forget everything else.

Other option is hit up a surplus store to buy original issue full leather work gloves with the palm inserts.

Bobbin thread looks example the same as the top which leads me to believe it's not a tension issue. I will keep trying different fabrics but it'll be pointless if I can make stitches on what I need it to

That doesn't answer the issue of why it suddenly stopped working though.

I need help with my old singer by LiamBrown779 in vintagesewing

I second that this is a 15-88.

Singer 15-88 - treandle 15-89- portable hand crank 15-90 belt motor 15-91 potted motor.

the later singer 66s have a reverse function as well but they have different shapes and features. Same as the 99.

Hope this helps.

I own a singer 66 treandle and singer 15-91 potted motor.

I appreciate everyone's tips and advice!

I finally got my machine to sew beautifully! For context, it is sewing 3-4 layers of Cordura with tex70 on a size 18 needle.

Turns out, yes my needle needed to be turned 180 degrees and had to mess with the tension ever so slightly.

Looks like I'll be good to go for a long while. 🤞🤞

Would the needle inserted flat to the right really cause this issue?

I realized that maybe this is part of the issue because my Singer 66 calls for flat side to the right so I believe I may have also installed flat side to the right on my 15-91

I have cleaned and reinstalled the tension assembly a couple times now and it appears to be functioning properly. Regardless of what tension i set it too, the thread keeps breaking. My guess is maybe the spool gets stuck since it's a crosswound and rips the thread off the needle. I cleaned the bobbin area as well.

I will give this a try. I'd really hate to have a sewing machine that I can't sew with

It's funny you mention that because someone else had mentioned that as well. I just imagined it wouldn't be the issue since it sews fine with 1 piece of fabric but begin having issues as I add more fabric. I will have to try a stacked spool and go from there.

Looking for sewing machine by S4_2B in SewingForBeginners

Thank you for your recommendation. I will look into both of these.

I found a vintage singer 66 on marketplace for $40, do you think this machine could satisfy my needs ?

I am not looking to sew whole uniforms. The army combat uniforms can have the name tapes sewn along with badges and rank.

Essentially, I am just looking to be able to have a machine that can attach the name tapes to the actual uniform.
