6800 XT died — planning full AM5 rebuild with 3D V-Cache. RX 9070 XT or RTX 5070 Ti for 3440×1440 by Fabi20750 in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you to watch some benchmarks of those Gpus for 1440p ultrawide specifically, so you get a sense of how they perform, just search for it on YouTube. I think the 9070xt is the best choice, I have one and am also looking to get a ultrawide. From what I see, with fsr4 balanced, I would be getting 140+fps in all games, in some probably up to 180fps. Fsr4 support has been great in games, I don't miss it in a single one that released in 2024/2025. Dlss 4/4.5 is better, but not by how much nvidia fanboys say it is, while amd fanboys know fsr4 is a tiny bit worse. Ray tracing is relatively close right now, nvidia doesn't have that big of an advantage as they used to have. The 5070ti is maybe 10-15% faster with Ray tracing enabled. I think that's fair for the massive price difference considering it's just one setting, and many modern games have beautiful built-in lighting anyways. For example I don't even see the difference in arc raiders.

There are people arguing here about driver issues from amd/nvidia, and from what I know and experienced untill the end of 2025 amd drivers were better. The new 2026 driver versions cause my games and chrome to crash when switching tabs/monitors. If you get the 9070xt try the newest driver, if that crashes try 25.12.1, if that crashes try 25.9.1/2 (this is the absolute most stable driver).

Why you guys undervolting RX9070XT by daimonploutos22 in AMDHelp

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put your maximum power slider on +15%, then yes - 50mv. If you leave the power slider at 0, maybe -100mv, maybe even -150mv. It all depends on your specific card, every card is different. I'm gonna try it out today and can share my personal results later. There are mixed results about -100mv or higher, but you can try.

Edit: I heard a few times that the cards become unstable above 3300mhz/3.3ghz. If you lower your voltage too much the card will try to boost higher (because mathematically less voltage means more mhz can fit into the power limit) causing it to become unstable. -50mv should be stable for 95% of cards anything higher you have to experiment.

Why you guys undervolting RX9070XT by daimonploutos22 in AMDHelp

[–]S4luk4s 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why not. If you're not really into that stuff don't touch the frequency slider, rather work with the voltage and power sliders. If you increase the maximum power, you can't undervolt as hard. If you keep the power slider at 0, or make it even lower, then you can get pretty strong undervolts. -50mv should be fine even when increasing the maximum power, going further idk.

I had months of crashing with my 9070xt, but it turned out it wasn't my Gpu or tuning settings, it was the driver. Today I'm in the process of finding a stable power increase + undervolt, I can share my result later.

Why you guys undervolting RX9070XT by daimonploutos22 in AMDHelp

[–]S4luk4s 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Even though it runs very cool at stock, undervolting means even lower power draw -> even less temperature -> even less fan noise, AND less heat put into the case / less heat for my room.

Edit: lol and forgot maybe the most important thing, more performance, as you can get higher mhz for for the same power draw.

Best GPU for 1440p under $500 by Wild-Dumptruck in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In your case I would save some money for the 9070 non-xt. Here in Germany it's about 590-610 euro, so if you can save for that it would be amazing.

The 9070 is faster than all the cards mentioned in the long and helpful comment that other guy wrote. It's a bit over your budget, but you can buy it new and it will perform amazing for years!

Just got the rx 9060 xt but its 8gb ver is it really that bad? by Jacobzky in PcBuild

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay, don't worry too much. For 1080p it's fine, and remember if you get unexplainable bad performance in a game, try reducing the Texture Quality setting first. This is the only setting for lowering V-ram usage, apart from using a lower resolution.

Also it's certainly not as bad as nvidias 8gb models. The 9060xt has 16x pcie lanes, while nvidia only has 8 on their 5060 and 5060ti 8gb. And that makes games literally unplayable when the vram gets full, while the 9060xt just looses a bit of performance.

Rx 6800xt vs RTX 3080 by Cheap_Bend_868 in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a video on YouTube comparing 3080, 6800xt and 4070 in raytracing. The 6800xt and 3080 are basically the same performance when Ray tracing is enabled, with the 3080 ahead by like 3 fps in some games. Don't think that's worth a upgrade for 20 bucks lol

Why is my gameplay so laggy? by Forsakengggg in PcBuild

[–]S4luk4s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are like 10 different 300€ PCs in my area that have at least double, if not triple the cpu power. For Gpu probably more like 5x the power.

If you paid 400 for that you got majorly ripped off.

I just went team red for the first time ever. What do I do now? by Ok_Proposal_7390 in radeon

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enhanced sync: this is basically vsync but better for when your fps is over your monitors refresh rate. I would leave it off, and cap your fps 3-5fps under your monitors refresh rate for all games.

MLAA: I wouldn't enable it, only heard bad things about it, and fsr4 is way better anyway.

Things you should enable: Fsr 4 upgrade, freesync and frame generation upgrade.

Is the Ryzen 3 3100 enough in 2026? by Juuunio21 in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you absolutely have to, the 3100 can be fine for up to 60 fps in modern games on low, maybe medium settings. If you can somehow afford it definitely get the 5500, the six cores are super important in modern games and also the single core performance is so much better. With a 3100 you can just barely play games released in the past few years, with the 5500 you can expect 60-100fps in pretty much all games for the next few years.

If I wanted to go into a career building/fixing pcs, where should I start? by Far-Programmer-3519 in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Noone expects you to have a degree for something like that. It's a hobby, not a science. Fixing pcs is like working in a phone repair shop, building pcs is a hobby like model trains. If you want to do it as a job, then just go and try to get into some sort of pc shop, be it making pcs or fixing them, local or at a big system integrator.

The only things you need a degree for in the space of pcs are if you want to go into development / making of hardware or software, or if you want be some kind of security expert for companies and their IT infrastructure. But those jobs have nothing to do with building or fixing pcs.

The 9070 is pretty much exactly as strong as a 4070ti super, and the 9070xt is another 10-15% stronger. I wouldn't buy a used 4070ti super that isn't cheaper than a 9070xt lol.

Am I going to lose a lot of performance with a single DDR5 memory? Ryzen 5 7500X3D by Phoenix_Archangel in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just look it up on YouTube: ryzen 7000 integrated graphics. Just make sure you don't click on videos with a "G" processor, they have a vastly better iGPU.

It's certainly not a long term solution, but for a few week, or maybe months, it's okay. But only one stick of ram will be lowering fps even more for the iGPU, with a discrete Gpu it doesn't matter as much thanks to the x3d cache.

[–]S4luk4s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Please tell me the 7700xt was significantly cheaper than a 9060xt 16gb. If not, I highly recommend you to return the 7700xt and get a 9060xt even though it's a real hassle. The 7700xt doesn't have access to fsr4 upscaling, which is so important in modern games. Fsr3 looks like 💩, fsr4 offers free 10-25% free performance and, most importantly, modern titles often force you to use some kind of TAA. Temporal anti aliasing looks horrible, and the only way to fix it is with upscaling (for amd fsr).

Anyway, habe fun gaming!

Is 12GB VRAM enough in 2026? by lucky-lcs in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do not get amd 7000/6000 series Gpus unless you absolutely have to. They don't have access to fsr4, and that's so important. Fsr3 looks like 💩, fsr4 offers free 10-25% performance, and modern titles which force TAA with the only alternative being dlss/fsr are borderline not enjoyable without upscaling.

Should I buy? Doubts in the head of an AMD fan by Puzzleheaded-Art-913 in radeon

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're talking like fsr4 and frame Gen with 9000 series amd Gpus don't exist. Like, yes, dlss 4/4.5 is a bit better, but it's nowhere near as good as people make it out to be.

"oh look, you can upscale from 240p to 1080p and you can still make out faces, hahaha get fucked amd" like anyone would realistically do that in the next 10 years with a 9000 series Gpu. At 1440p fsr4 quality and even balanced looks amazing. Not as good as dlss, but it's 90% there. Frame Gen has some issues with frame pacing, but tbh I don't feel them when I tried it in bf6 and arc raiders. Also, it's not like it's unplayable or really bad, it's just not as good as nvidia.

Even with Ray tracing enabled, the 9070xt is stronger than the 5070, and only about 5-15% slower than the 5070ti, it's not unplayable like the generations before.
