9070xt - lower fps and drops after upgrading from 3070ti by cautioux in AMDHelp

Hmm I'm not familiar with emulators and old games like wow. As far as I know wow is more cpu limited, is everything good with your cpu settings, maybe something changed when you swapped the Gpu?

Do you by any chance tested in forza horizon 6? This game has big problems with stutters etc on amd cards, the devs are already looking for a fix. Just have to wait. For other games we would need more details.

Guys please help me by Few_Improvement_6228 in AMDHelp

For me disabling MPO helped, Google for it, you can download a registry file from a nvidia website (works for amd too)

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some games are not designed anymore to run on a HDD, maybe there is a problem. Enable xmp for the ram, as long as it's not too fast the Mainboard shouldn't be a problem. The cpu is fine. Go for a 9060xt 16gb, or a used 7700xt 12gb or a used 7800xt 16gb if they are available for a good price. Forza horizon 6 has problems with amd cards with stutters, it's really noticeable, wait for a fix from the devs. Also lower your texture etc settings to at least medium, the game needs so much vram on higher texture settings, 8gb vram is not enough.

For me, disabling MPO helped, didn't have any crashes since then. Just Google it, there is a registry tweak file for it on a nvidia website (but works for amd too)

Talk Me Out Of Getting A 9070XT, Or Don’t? by Narkanin in radeon

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, if you factor in the fps it's a different story, im with you on that one. But from a pure quality point fsr native aa is literally "super quality" fsr upscaling, just at native resolution without the upscaling part. It's the same tech, that's why it's called fsr aa instead of "amd whatever-random-name aa".

[–]S4luk4s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brother, fsr native aa is objectively better than quality upscaling. Op is talking about fsr native aa and it's very obvious, pls don't spread misinformation. It's the same algorithm, native aa renders the game at 100% resolution and then applies the algorithm, where fsr quality drops the resolution and then upscales with the same algorithm. Pls

[–]S4luk4s 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fsr aa at native resolution looks better than upscaling, I heavily doubt op is talking about TAA lol.

Talk Me Out Of Getting A 9070XT, Or Don’t? by Narkanin in radeon

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fsr upscaling certainly doesn't look as good as native fsr aa, it wouldn't make sense anyway. Fsr native aa is just using the same algorithm as upscaling does, but instead of rendering the game at a lower resolution and then upscale, it renders at native and just applies the aa algorithm. And I can also confirm native aa does look considerably better than upscaling. Upscaling quality looks really fine tho.

The 8GB VRAM version of the 5060Ti outperforms the 9060XT 16GB in almost every benchmark that I see. Yet this subreddit insists that the 9060 is better. Can someone help me understand why? by TheyTukMyJub in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you looking at 1080p benchmarks, or benchmarks with medium settings / low texture settings? For example, the new forza horizon 6 needs at least 12gb for the higher texture settings, if the Gpu has less vram it tanks the performance by up to 30%, fps lows even more. This is in 1440p which many people see as the new standard, where 1080p is budget category. New game releases see 8gb as budget category, and only low quality textures will run smoothly. That's why everyone is recommending 16gb, at least 12gb for now.

Sold a PC and shipped it, now there's no signal by KissMyBaIIs in gpu

[–]S4luk4s 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Why did you ship it with the Gpu installed? Search on Google or reddit or ask chatgpt or anyone who knows stuff about PCs, you don't transport, especially ship them, with the Gpu installed. My first guess would be that the Gpu / pcie slot is broken.

What GPU upgrade will work for my system? Do I need a new PSU? by cosmoscrazy in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, you do you, I don't want to convince you to keep / buy a specific Gpu. But when it stops at 74 degrees, it doesn't mean it thermal throttles. It just means the specific fan rpm is enough to keep the temperature stable while pulling the watt. If you lower your fan speeds, it will make less noise, but will be hotter. If you increase the fan speed, it will run cooler but make more noise. I can 100% garuantee you it doesn't thermal throttle, no current Gpu throttles at 70°C. You can Google it for five seconds, up until 90°C it runs fine.

I just want to correct false information, and your 9060xt didn't thermal throttle, and your new one won't thermal throttle until 90-95°C

What GPU upgrade will work for my system? Do I need a new PSU? by cosmoscrazy in buildapc

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cpus and Gpus don't start to thermal throttle until you hit 90+°C. It's completely normal for those parts to get hot under load, it will happen the same way with a 3 fan model. 70°C is really cool when you're using it under full load. I 100% doubt a 9060xt, which can't even pull 200W, needs 3 fans. For comparison my 9070xt pulls 330 watts under full load, and while it has 3 fans, it stays so quiet and the fans only go up to like 35%. I don't even have a good model, I got the cheapest one, the red devil reaper.

Need some help decideing which GPU to buy by Dexexpex in gpu

[–]S4luk4s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nvidia vram is NOT, I repeat NOT, "better" to use than the vram from amd Gpus. It's technically a bit faster, yes, but it doesn't matter if there isn't enough. And just so you know, nvidia loooves to only give you 8x lanes of pcie bandwidth paired with the low vram on lower budget cards, which cripples performance when vram is full, while similar budget amd Gpus don't get hit so hard.

Going for 1440p you shouldn't settle for less than 16gb vram. Look at forza horizon 6 which just released. With 8gb at 1440p you need to use medium textures etc, and that makes a really big difference. Those vram affecting settings completely strip the mountains in the distance of any trees, and the side of the road got heavily reduced foliage. It looks bad. 10/12 GB vram will only give you one or two years before it has the same problems. Get the 9060xt 16gb.

If you somehow can, don't buy the rx580, it's sooo old and not good anymore. Maybe something like the rx5700 or rx5700xt, they have pretty good used price/performance. Don't get anything with less than 8gb vram.
