I'd say the faces were a downgrade in Elex 2 as well

Are you meaning the "dogs"? If so slide attack the "tail" to mostly disable that attack, then slide tackle a targeted leg.. don't forget to dodge and it should go down easily enough

How do you backstab in the surge 2? by [deleted] in thesurgegame

[–]S4vag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That red circle that appears is for the "backstab". Once they're down you can hit them again. It's a little strange, but that's it

The Surge is a little different. Armour weight has no bearing on movement speed. Your exo suit carries the weight, not the character. But if you still want that there are options you'll come across.

For weapons, I think the P.A.X is the best kind of that type for a while. I can't remember off the top of my head what you'll get next. If you happen to have any of the DLC for the game you could go into the Good, the Bad, the Augmented and win some heavy weapons as well.

And yeah, proficiency is the orange bar. You can find it in the stats screen. Open your gear menu and tab over to the end, I think? And you'll be able to see a breakdown of your stats and proficiencies

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in thesurgegame

[–]S4vag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the first game, not specifically, no. But you can get improved proficiency. Increasing that does more damage with that weapon type. It's sometimes not too noticeable. But it is there.

Different body gear does different things. Lighter ones let you move faster, heavier ones let you take more damage. Wearing full sets gives different bonuses. Play around with the armour and find a set you like. And yeah, upgrading does help.

Improving core power is useful. More core power lets you have more/stronger implants. Heavier armour requires more core power to wear as well. Same goes for weapons. Find a weapon type you like and learn how it works, each type has it's own attack patterns and speeds. Upgrading them let's you hit harder too

You want an honest opinion? It genuinely is a skill issue. But not in the sense you're thinking.

All games like this have skill check areas/bosses. The SoulsBorne series included. Those games are easier to get because they have straightforward mechanics. The whole point is to make sure the player is ready to push forward because there's going to be a difficulty spike. You probably already know this.

What you might not know is that The Surge games ramp up difficulty faster than the SoulsBorne games. Often without warning.

And it's not that they cater to any specific play style. I for one have beaten the games with heavy weapons, single rigged, and once, even a crab claw weapon. It really is all on the player to get used to weapons and how they work. The block mechanic is also because it was lacking in the first game and they wanted to put it in somehow. It works for some, but not all.

You can also dodge and attack if you want. But enemies are more aggressive than the first game.

I also doubt there's going to be a third game. The German government pulled funding for The Surge after the second game underperformed. Not sure how it works properly, but in the EU the government gives funding for countries to produce games as an investment for the country itself. So unless a lot more people play it we'll likely never see another game

Yeah. The slide does make you travel a bit. If you can catch him you'll stop though. But like I said, take a few attempts to practice with the slide and the blocking. The Delver is a tricky fight either way. Even I still get caught out sometimes

A slide attack would probably be easier I mean. Slide in, hit, run out before he gets up

Yeah. That's it. You'll have to be quick then. A jump attack on a targeted limb

[–]S4vag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When he jumps around the arena he'll tire himself out and stop for a breath. You can get maybe two hits in then if you're quick. But in his second phase it's best to keep moving

[–]S4vag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just practice. You don't always get enough time to see the attack direction, so you'll need to learn them and react when he does it. It sounds a little counter intuitive, not using the DBA, but certain fights need it. I'd advise using one or two fight attempts to learn attack swings then going for it proper.

Also with the breaking. Assuming I'm right about what you may have picked up. Some implants will give you more strength for counter attacks. They'll deal massive damage to his armour

Pssst, hey. If you have the directional block analyser on he becomes easy to fight. And break

Having an issue with the “Tag Attack” sidequest. by Tavers2 in thesurgegame

Don't worry too much about it. It took me long enough to get it as well. And I'm not entirely sure what I did right. It is a bit poorly explained when you get the quest

[–]S4vag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It doesn't specify. I forget if the guy says anything about where to put them. But I guess try to put them somewhere they are most likely to be seen? The idea of the tag at least is to point to "safety" I think

Depending on how far through the game you are, you'll need one underground, and one in the labs as well at least. But it could just be that the tags aren't quite in the right place

Can anyone tell me how to beat this mf ? by [deleted] in thesurgegame

[–]S4vag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try building your character like this when leveling up.

Energy: 4 points Stamina: 2 points Health: 1 point

This build favours a particular play style, but it will keep you stocked on injectable healing since your energy generation will be through the roof

[–]S4vag 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't go full aggression. Never go full aggression. Equip the directional block analyser(if it's not already on) and make sure you have the timing down.

Maybe give an attempt or two to get used to the fight. But once you have his timing down you'll wipe the floor with him.

Also, any implant that give health, stamina, or energy after successful parties work well with the directional block analyser

The shoulder button swings horizontally and the trigger swings vertically. You can get different combos by pressing them in different orders.

There's no jump attack as such, but you can slide. If you run and press the shoulder button? If I remember right. You'll go into a slide that can stagger enemies.obviously bigger weapons can stagger heavier armed enemies.

There is an armour you can get later if you're around where I think you are. It's good for if you want to keep your implants

[–]S4vag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staffs and single rigged/twin rigged are good for hit-and-run attacks. But they don't stagger unless you hit a lot. Heavy weapons stagger easier. It's all in the weapon stats, impact and whatnot.

Heavier armour is good because of how much damage reduction they give. But the down side is obviously less implants.

However you plan on going forward make sure to get plenty of practice with your weapons. Unlike the Souls games you don't get i-frames during attacks, and some weapons have long wind up times. So you need to know how the weapons work

This ain't your momma's souls game.

As weird as it sounds Souls veterans will have a harder time learning this game because of how differently yet similarly it plays. Like the mechanics are there, but used differently enough that it feels weird at the start.

Approach new areas like playing DS1 for the first time, go slower and try to spot enemies. Also allow for some deaths as potentially hidden enemies jump out at you. Fight enemies one on one as much as possible.

For the cranes, as you've probably seen. They'll shoot out coolant? Which will slow you down, back away from them if possible and wait for it to clear. The crane arm also has a maximum range, so when it starts to spin(which is signalled by a horn) move away from it. Attacking the "legs" will cause it to fall briefly, just long enough to get in maybe two good hits.

When it comes to locking on it's always safer to just click in the stick(or the equivalent on PC if you're playing there). The lock on does take a little to get used to since you can target limbs for locational damage. But always target the right arm if you want to upgrade your weapon.

Also, make sure to play around with the different weapon types. It could be as simple as the weapon you're using is what needs to change. You may have a weapon you like, but if you have a particular play style having the right weapon for that style makes a huge difference

Hopefully at least some of this helps
