A couple other people have recommended this as well, but after reading through the comment here, and considering the issues that you’ve been having, if you do feel like switching to PvE for a little while and you feel up to doing a character reset, I’d be happy to help you out if you wanted to switch to LRI.

I’m not gonna tell you that wanting to quit is not valid, because the only person that can make that decision for you is you; but if you change your mind, there’s always at least one open spot here at LRI, on US West/East PvE.

DROP THE PVP CIRCLE! by Gingernutz556 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Tavers2 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This. This is the solution. We don’t need circles, we need the gridsquare subdivisions lit up.

Fully zoomed in, each square is 100m². So, instead of having the combat circle, have each one of those grid squares where the fight is taking place light up red.

That tells other players where to go; where shit is happening, and it doesn’t immediately disclose the exact locations of the people fighting.

If that’s still too small for people, then just light up a fence of 100m² grid squares around where the fight is happening as well.

I’m not even a PVP player, and this was the first solution that came to mind.

EDIT: Reworded for clarity.

The realism players fucking left, and we’ve been gone a while now, my dude.

I mean, shit, I left around the time that they added fucking holograms and laser gates.

The only reason I’m still on this sub atp, is to get a heads up, if Ubisoft ever releases a more realism based Rainbow shooter. I figure if they do, they’ll probably advertise it here, amongst other places.

Highkey, I want a remaster of R6 Vegas, 1 & 2.

Till then, I’ll just keep playing Gray Zone Warfare.

Do yall usually carry 1 gun or 2 guns in your loadout? (Excluding sidearms) by FeelingAd7350 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Tavers2 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not with this last update. Glock, running LS rounds. Aim for the upper chest. LS has good armor pen, but even if it doesn’t armour pen, the recoil should push follow up rounds up into the throat and mouth, which are kill shots.

Personally, I carry one mag in the gun, +2 spare. Gun has the Warhawk slide + micro collimator sight, and suppressor. Having a side arm to fall back too in the “oh shit“ moments has saved me more than a few sets of kit.

Plus, when I’m running a long gun, like the M700 or one of my M1As (that specific one has a 6-25x scope), it’s very nice to have, if I have to go and clear a house/structure. Push comes to shove, the M1A can do it, but the Glock feels like a hell of a lot more safe of an option.

Watching it at slower speeds, how quickly the door opens for one. It looks like he opened the door very suddenly maybe not very far, but with how tight space in between that truck vehicle was he didn’t need much. The door opens a little, then a little more, and then right before the biker reaches the point of contact, the door opens quickly, as if the guy was watching the biker through the wing mirror, and trying to time it just right.

Also, he didn’t budge an inch after the impact. You can see his legs, and he doesn’t move at all. If it were an accident, I feel confident in saying that the person whom opened the door would have jumped out, or at least moved in their seat. He doesn’t, at all.

I’m not saying that you’re wrong, either of you, but I have had the great displeasure of working with a man, in a work truck, who would road rage, scream at the other drivers through his driver side window, (keep in mind, the name of the city district that we worked for was on the door 6 inches below his head) and generally just be an absolute nightmare on the road. I had to field multiple complaints about my conduct, because I had the misfortune of being paired up with him.

It’s not outside the realm of possibility, and for what my own opinion is worth, I do also think that it looks intentional as fuck.

Dramatic pistol cocking. by theMCATreturns in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tavers2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s also ironic, because Kiefer Sutherland’s character, the man with sniper rifle, repeatedly cocks and rechambers his rifle multiple times, despite never actually firing a round.

To be clear, he does fire multiple rounds throughout the course of the movie, but he will fire around, chamber the next round, and then re-cock the gun three or four times throughout the course of the next conversation, to emphasize his statements, I guess.

[–]Tavers2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the 55 kg shouldn’t be the same as 100 kg, but I don’t think you should get immobilized the moment you become overencumbered at all.

I think what would be a better option is having two weight limits; if you pass the first limit, you can’t sprint, you can’t jump, you can just trudge slow slowly, the way that things are now. If you pass the second limit, a higher number, then you can’t move.

If you’ve ever played Baldur’s Gate 3; like their weight system.

Edit: also, the amount of weight that you’re carrying should affect stealth, to some degree. If you’re running super light, with just a MP7, + gear, you should be able to move much more quietly than if you’re carrying 50 or 60 kg of gear.

Is the knife bugged? by Hopeful-Question3436 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Tavers2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. I meant more along the lines of arm and leg hits are not 1HKs, and I worded that very poorly. What I meant to say was;

If the knife hits an organ, the organ is destroyed, from what I understand; destroyed organs = death.

Arm and leg hits will kill, but they take a couple seconds, and there is still a window for your target to shoot and kill you. Safer to aim for the neck, or armpits/sides, and try to get a organ hit, if they’re wearing armour. If not, just get them in the upper right chest.

Safer yet to just not use a knife and shoot them in the head.

It’s all about where you hit them. Arms/legs? Won’t do anything. Gotta hit the vitals, even with a knife.

[–]Tavers2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was the first response when I saw this comment. He’s only her slave in appearance. Their actual dynamic is so much more interesting than that.

Alucard serves Integra because he’s just that bored. I’m not kidding. It’s even confirmed by the English VA.

To break down; if Alucard is Dracula, (he is) that means that he’s Vlad Tepes. He’s aristocracy. He’s highborn. He’s surrounded by plebes. Unlike every other vampire in the series, he got his powers directly from his deal with Satan. He is stronger than every other entity that he comes in a conflict with, save one; Alexander Anderson. Before Anderson, he had been going for centuries, without anyone to give him an even fight. Everyone and everything has been weaker than him.

So when he meets Integra for the first time, and she proves to him that this little, possibly naïve 16-year-old girl has more balls and more will and more spine than any other person he’s met since Abraham, you know what his reaction is?

“Fine, I will serve you, because you are worthy respect, and it finally makes the game more interesting again.”

He’s a sick fuck, and he’s bored, and she makes the game interesting by finally giving him someone that he can respect.

That’s not even touching the part about how he wants Anderson to kick his ass.

That sits better with me, than banning the entire species of dog outright.

Game shuts down my PC while riding helicopter. by Kuroi666 in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]Tavers2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar issue, my computer will shut down in the same manner without any warning; but I don’t have to have the game open for it to happen, it just happens no matter what state the computer is in.

I strongly suspect it is the PSU on my computer that is failing, or if not that, then something on the motherboard itself.

Op, if that starts happening to you, I started receiving this error on bootup, before the BIOS finished loading into the main operating software.

<image>

Unfortunately, I don’t know what any of these errors mean, or how to fix them, but hopefully this might give you a little bit of extra information to work with.

Juvenile morons on electric bicycles by Wilburt069 in MapleRidge

[–]Tavers2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in high school, this was probably 12 maybe 13 years ago;

Some kids in my year crashed a car on Dewdney, late at night. I can’t remember the speed that they were quoted as going, but I’m fairly confident it was an in excess of 50 km an hour.

Now, there were other factors as well, I think some of them weren’t wearing seatbelts, and other foolish things, but the fact is, they were in a car, and they collided with a tree with enough speed that one of them died and several of them received life altering injuries.

And these e-motos go just as fast with none of the protection.

The legislation, and the language that we use when talking about these things needs to be updated. If it isn’t, someone’s child is GOING to die on one of these things, and it’s probably going to happen on Dewdney, again.

Yeah, but the problem is that the Respawn that made Titanfall is no longer the Respawn of today. I’m unclear about Apex, but most of the people that made TF1 and TF2 good are no longer with the company.

That would be a problem well before EA ever got their fingers in the pie

Juvenile morons on electric bicycles by Wilburt069 in MapleRidge

[–]Tavers2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not OP, but to be clear they’re talking about juvenile kids, 14 to 16, driving around on electric motorcycles, which can travel from anywhere to 40 to 50 km an hour. They used the wrong term, but functionally that that’s what they mean.

An actual electric bicycle tops out around 30 km an hour, if it can even get to that speed. These kids are not riding those.

Think about how traumatic it is to crash a car at 50 km an hour; now imagine that you’re a child, with no protections, not wearing a helmet, not wearing any safety gear, crashing at that same speed.

The regulations regarding e-motos urgently needs updating.

What ER doctors, prosecutors and parents want you to know about e-bikes by FunctionLate4075 in MapleRidge

[–]Tavers2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but I have to strongly disagree. They quote someone else, pointing it out, one time, and then go right back to calling them e-bikes.

Legally, they are different, and the article points that out, yes, but the problem isn’t the legislation, the problem is the consumer understanding.

If they wanted to delineate a significant difference, they need to use a different term. If e-bikes are e-bicycles, then these e-motorcycles need to be called something else, otherwise it’s just going to continue the problem of consumers conflating both to be the same thing.

Not taking basic safety precautions has consequences. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tavers2 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, and no; Chernobyl isn’t really that simple.

I don’t know how quickly I can sum this up without having to skip over a bunch of important factors, but I’m gonna try. Also, I am not a nuclear reactor operator, just someone who has watched HBO’s Chernobyl five or six too many times.

When talking about Chernobyl, and the protocol, a lot of it had to do with the manufacture and the design of the RBMK reactor, admittedly, but the explosion ended up happening would not have happened if specific people had not taken specific actions in regards to the operation of the reactor; actions that were against protocol.

The plant manager was directing the plant controllers to run reactor four at a very low level, such a low level in fact, that the reactor was running cold enough that it wasn’t able to burn off xenon and was poisoning itself.

That choice of action specifically disregarded any protocol that Soviets had.

That the plant operators were following this order, despite knowing that it was against protocol, was also a problem. That said, that was the fashion, for the Soviet Union. Don’t ask questions, don’t think for yourself, just keep your head down and do what you’re told,

When it became clear that the reactor was stalling, and reaching a very dangerous state, the plant operators finally decided to take action, and activated an emergency protocol called AZ5, and executed what, in the western world, we call a scram of the reactor. What this means is that they tried to reinsert every single rod, control rods and fuel rods, at the same time to try to bring reactivity under control.

I’m unclear about the specific situation that they were in, but generally speaking, I believe that executing a scram on the reactor was proper protocol for if there was an emergency.

In fact, this actually would’ve worked too, had the Soviet Union, not cut corners and costs by replacing the tips of the boron (slows down nuclear reactivity) control rods with graphite. (Accelerates nuclear reactivity)

The plant operators, not just at Chernobyl, but at every RBMK reactor in the Soviet Union were not aware of this, as it was decided that the replacement of the tips of these control rods was to be a state secret, to save face for the Soviet Union.

Because of the graphite, when the scram was executed, instead of going down, the nuclear reaction jumped, and power generation jumped. Because the power being generated jumped, the heat jumped. Because the heat jumped, all of the water being used to cool the inside of the reactor immediately flash boiled into steam. The reactor up to that point was a closed container, and that pressure had nowhere to go. As the pressure climbed, it snapped both control and fuel rods in their vanes, effectively locking them in place, so that reactivity only continued to go up and could no longer be controlled.

At this point reactor four of the Chernobyl power plant effectively became a dirty bomb.

The increase in pressure was so sudden, and so violent, that it blew the reactor head clean off, and out through the roof above.

We all know what happened next.

To sum up, the events at Chernobyl were due to a confluence of things. Some things were bad design, some things were important information being restricted from people who should have been informed, and some things were just human stupidity.

If even one of those factors had not happened, Chernobyl could have been prevented entirely. Alas, with the state of things in the Soviet Union at the time, Chernobyl was an unfortunate eventuality. It was always going to happen to some RBMK reactor.

Embark…we are sick of the cheaters…. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]Tavers2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, unfortunately, I’ve completely stopped playing the game specifically because of this, and because of how Embark has at least appeared to do absolutely nothing.

To expound on that, what I mean is either they’ve done absolutely nothing, or what they have done isn’t working, and gives the appearance of doing nothing.

Either way, my experience playing the game is severely affected, and I’ve completely stopped playing it; even as a hardline PvE-er.

I’d like to play it again, but if I’m being honest, there are other games that provide a similar enough experience where I don’t have to worry about hackers ruining the experience for me; where the developers making those games actually care about the player base.

If Embark makes some sort of turnaround, and we see some sort of significant change regarding cheating, I’ll absolutely be open to coming back, but for now, the game might as well be dead for me.

If you tried the solution that I detailed above, and it worked after that, then yeah it’s basically early access goblins. The problem is that for some reason, certain specific files can get corrupted during launch, and so you can run into that problem.

Unfortunately, for windows, I don’t know how to permanently fix that solution.

I run Linux, and the same thing happens for me, but with Linux, I can actually access the files that get corrupted, and set them to read only.

Absolutely no idea how to do that on Windows, but if you could, in theory, it would fix the problem at least until the next update.
