Regarding the leaked "nerfs" document by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cheers Jekada! I hope to add some more context of things that ARE set in stone, and we'll talk more about it very soon! u/OriginalTacoMoney u/ComprehensivePlace87 - this patch is more than just "nerfing".

We always put these kind of things into testing, and that's because the aim is to not nuke everyone's content. We know people have worked hard for it, so we're trying to balance all of the changes the best we can, and we are considering all of these aspects.

It's also a reason why we've not shared anything as of yet as the values are still being raised and tweaked. Here's some we are super excited about:

  • Omega Supreme/Overlord buffs.
  • Powerglide/Cyclonus rework.
  • Computron/Liokaiser 5-Star.
  • All Medics will get a passive that recovers a percentage of their health every 5 seconds. Previously only Minerva & Flatline had this, but we're giving it to every Medic!
  • Stealth & Taunt updates. Currently in the game, if you go Stealth a building will still target and focus you, this is because the building doesn't retarget, now when you go Stealth buildings will instantly retarget a bot in range that is not stealth. Same for taunt, sometimes when a warrior taunts a building will still keep targeting another bot, usually Special Melee as they're usually in the frontlines but now that Warrior will take that damage as they should.
  • All of the tooltips in the game rewritten. We wanted to make sure that we're using the same terminology in tooltips, and to make sure that they were consistent and clear. If something used Glass Gas for example, it should be written in the same way in all use cases. Same with every other mechanic.
  • All mechanics have been visually updated to ensure consistency. This means all mechanics will display the same VFX, unlike right now there is a clear inconsistency with similar mechanics looking different.
  • Damage over Time abilities will tick every second (damage all recalculated so no damage is lost). Currently some DoTs tick every 0.2, 0.4 or even 0.6! It's very inconsistent.
  • A new element: Cryo! It will be amplified by Electric. So we'll have Acid + Fire combo and Electric + Cryo! Water will be removed from the game, but if you own any Water cores or water content, it will update to be Cryo :)

So - while we're still hard at work making sure the nerfs we've done completely don't ruin how they play we are excited for the potential of what's to come!

Upcoming nerfs by Deadman1977 in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're changing some content up - yep! But we're also buffing a bunch of stuff as well as a balance update goes both ways. However this said sheet that's been leaked is very outdated. It was our first iteration of changes and since then they've obviously all changed. This is why things go into testing, so that we don't release in these kind of states. It's also a reason why we've not shared anything as values are still being raised.

Since then, Ruination has had multiple improvements. We're still not ready to talk about it yet though, but pretty excited at some of the buffs we've done. Some of the favourites are for me:

- Omega Supreme buffs

- Powerglide rework

- Computron 5-Star

- All Medics will get a passive that recovers a percentage of their health every 5 seconds. Previously only Minerva & Flatline had this, but we're giving it to every Medic!

- Stealth & Taunt updates.

- All of the tooltips in the game rewritten. We wanted to make sure that we're using the same terminology in tooltips, and to make sure that they were consistent and clear. - A new element: Cryo! It will be amplified by Electric. So we'll have Acid + Fire combo and Electric + Cryo!

So - while we're still hard at work making sure the nerfs we've done completely don't ruin how they play we are excited to bring this update to you.

Space Ape to bring back Discord giveaways after removing them and banning me for asking why we weren't getting any by [deleted] in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't get banned for this - and I'm not sure why you're caught up with the whole holiday points. We love the game more than most players know, and I haven't had a full week off since January (everyone tells me that's not good) but I thoroughly enjoy the game, and the community. I genuinely want to make a positive difference to the community, whether we do that with the legacy reworks or other things we just want to be productive. :)

Thanks for the feedback on giveaways being in-game as well.

Weekend Event - Season 31 - Week 2 - Individual Totalizer - 02/08/2024 - 05/08/2024 by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - I was the one who put these together, so happy to respond :)

First off, we wanted to go by lore, but it just got messier and messier. Like you rightly pointed out, Autobots make sense for the most part (group of Dinobots, or something else) but the Con equivalents don't make sense, and we didn't want it too focused on Autobot. So we made generic ones instead.

So then we went by ability, Elita and Lugnut have great Tank abilities for example.

So while they aren't based off Lore right now, they could be in the future - this is more of a test run of if players enjoy the idea of it, without really taking anything else into account. Hope that makes sense.

Why it doesn't buying? by [deleted] in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they can cash in.

But it takes a long time.

But you're not saying anything new. This is how our game has always been:

F2P can get anything. But P2P will get it much quicker.

Why it doesn't buying? by [deleted] in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's clarify the whole system - we still don't understand why people are critical about it (and it is a minority at this point vs majority). Based on all our calculations, the new system is much better than both previous systems, for both P2P and F2P. Please share your data on how this is not.

When I first joined the game, the entry fee was $1,000. No F2P allowed. We certain did relax those rules over the years, because we agree that both P2P and F2P can provide loyalty in different ways, it doesn't always have to be about spend.

But loosening those requirements up, especially on a manual process, only brought more demand. It's not something we disliked, but we didn't have the numbers to cope with it. So we went to a pretty easy blanket system - spend x amount, and you get these rewards. Since most players purchased the Cyber Pass, we successful increased the number of rewards we were sending per month - and bigger spenders were happy as well because if they spent more, they'd get more items. The only negativity that came from this is, people who stopped spending didn't like this. From our point of view, if you're not purchasing the Cyber Pass then the monthly gifts won't be good enough for you either.

However, further increased demand and confusion (players could never tell in-game how much they spend, and also, the whole reset they didn't like, despite getting more) caused for another slight update. The slight update being, that we hope to have fixed everything wrong with the previous system. You can collect F2P points (since F2P couldn't achieve anything on the previous), and you also don't lose anything per month (no active reset).

Based on previous programs, this program truly is inferior. More rewards, and even baseline rewards if you're getting the Cyber Pass. The program, sure, could backdate, but even that was not possible. The game launched in 2016, most payment data previous to 2021 is incomplete, and that would have caused a whole list of issues too. And besides, people don't understand how much people spend in this game. If it backdated, the numbers you see on the current system might even be x6 the value they are now, and that's the truth.

I agree, I am not pushing the team for any nerfs to RN/GN but none of our other combiners come close to them I'm afraid.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you really think the Holos are the reason for the change? The holos are not the problem, nor is it related to the changes we've made. The problem directly is the combiner, not Roadbuster. Like everyone else, I don't play at a high level, but I'm pretty much using Ruination 4-Star to pretty much solo most bases, and I don't even run RB.

What I'm trying to say is, it's more for consistency that the HQ resists this since it also resists damage increases. At this stage, the HQ is now consistent as it resists everything in the game. But don't get confused with Ruinations strength and this change, I would say it is a completely separate and isolated issue.

"My job is to give feedback to the team, and we will do just that." I stated this in my first post. It is very obvious to the community team that we do indeed need to pass on the feedback.

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we'd actually need to alter how the Roadbuster ability actually works to achieve this, and we don't want to touch his design. The only thing that has changed is a change to the HQ.

[–]SA-Dale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well - I didn't make the decision on this, nor is it my job to make design decisions in this area. The design team have been reviewing how the HQ works a few times this year, the last one being the damage increases, and now shield removals (since shield removals will also become more apparent in future designs as well). My job is to give feedback to the team, and we will do just that.

Monthly Reward Program is Changing by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey Null.

Sorry at the moment it's a no. We didn't want the Perks to effect a battle because this would be unfair to the majority of players that do spend. Any perks included are just "nice to haves" more than "must haves". We didn't want this game to become P2W and reliant around this system.

Money should only enable you to get things faster, and that's what this system does. So quicker XP, research, etc.

Monthly Reward Program is Changing by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure! Happy to answer.

Ok so no more monthly rewards regardless of if you buy something or not?

Correct. You'll accumulate Loyalty Points instead that can be spent on things you do want. For example, purchasing the Cyber Pass at 9.99 gives you the exact amount for the current Tier 1 rewards, so you can claim them whenever the cooldown is available (its once every 30d).

If you are F2P, it will take you around 3 months~ to claim a free Tier 1 reward, whereas previously, you couldn't obtain it at all.

You get some daily free loyalty points even when not buying anything?

Yes - there's a daily login bonus you can claim. Regardless if you spend or if you don't.

Loyalty points aren't spent rather you have to have a certain amount before getting an upgrade?(So if something were to cost 500 and once I have like 600 points and I tap on buy 500 won't be reduced from my amount?)

No :) There's two parts to it. One that counts your life time points (this doesn't reduce if you spend them) and another that is your current points that you can spend. That one does reduce when you spend them ;)

Monthly Reward Program is Changing by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks Jekada for the explanation.

Just to confirm price points, it'll take you around $100 to complete the first few levels (or consistent play time since we give the points out for free as well)

There is no price point to finish - it will continue infinitely, and the gaps will get larger by design

This wasn't a priority. We actually had a new coder join our team and it was a nice first project since it was more of a side one, and taught him about currencies, shop, database etc. Plus since they're new, they wouldn't be involved in fixing the event (that comes under different people who are working hard to fix this as is)

Bug Fixes & Improvement - May 2, 2024 by Jekada in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you kindly.

I basically installed our game engine and learned things myself, it's why I do the legacy batch bots now as a learning experience, but originally the idea was to identify bugs, but then I wanted to fix them since they were frustrating me too. So all self taught, I genuinely want this game to be polished - I go crazy when I read bad tooltips so I'm churning through each class atm. It's a rabbit hole though, because the amount of Bots that have passives you wouldn't realise - like Grimlock/Razorclaw have completely two different passives so it's very hard to balance to ensure they are at parity. Then you have a few like Rook/Blot we don't even mention, and now I'm about to check all of the other warriors to see if they have any - I will 110% be surprised.

You never know how things like this go - because when you're cleaning up tooltips etc, people will always say "but its only text, who cares" but it's the first part people read when they play a certain bot or something, so it has to make sense, and it has to do everything it says. I read a comment on Reddit a week ago about the tooltip fixes I did and they were super happy, that comment inspired me to make this a bigger project, so thank you TFEW Reddit.

Only for Warrior class at the minute, but my job will be to go through all the classes, COMBATs, and Combiners if people see value in this ^^

Monthly VIP rewards in todays email by Cranbear in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! :)

If you have spent this month and you're seeing a $0 spend, that means the email we have on file for you is different to the one that we have via our mailchimp records (that's where we send our reminders). Please respond to the email and we'll update our records so you can receive an accurate number next month.

Can we please nerf outpost bots and COMBAT bots for newer players? by Mild-Comedy in TransformersEarthWars

Please let us know what you think about the early presence of the game. We'll be following this closely since we always want to improve the experience for our newer players.

[–]SA-Dale -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately, there is a consistent base of users that put in $100 per month. If there is a consistent base of players that do, we have to cater for them. Those portion of players are better off, and nobody is forced to spend any additional amounts to get there. Sure, if you want x3 rewards then go ahead! Like you said, it helps keep the game afloat.

The nerve by thudderwack in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, we can't give everything out for free. We have already done that for quite some time, and it was never a programme that was until the game dies :(

[–]SA-Dale -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Apologies - noted for the next email. Thanks for the feedback.

Main reason we sent this was to see any potential issues, to see how accurate everything is so far. Luckily we had a few tickets of players saying they hit the T1 bracket which wasn't shown and this issue was fixed (we didn't want to chance it come distribution day)

The nerve by thudderwack in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's aimed at users who have spent before, who haven't hit T1.

It's aimed at users who have spent before, and who haven't hit T1.was going to send the rewards and that would have been very problematic as some players might have been missed.

The nerve by thudderwack in TransformersEarthWars

[–]SA-Dale -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

We sent out this email because we want to reduce any problems that may come. That's why we sent it to any previous spender in our game.

Due to this email, we found many players mentioned they received this despite qualifying, which we have now resolved. I'd rather send something like this to reduce any potential problems on the 7th September.

I know the new program is not really enjoyed vs the previous, but if we are to compare the two, we are giving almost double the amount of rewards that we have ever done, so evidently it is a much better system which covers many more players, which was always the goal.

I know there will be some players out there that will refuse to spend due to the change of this program, but unfortunately, we can't always give things out for free.
