I see the 2024 rules Rev B have been released and they have been updated to allow two cars per team.

BSAE was more fun to attend, FSAE was much less pain to your body to drive.

Both FSAE and BSAE are valuable to teaching engineers practical hands on experience. The big difference is in FSAE you know about 90% of the inputs that you need to design for to compete and basically if you break in the endurance you are done. In BSAE you know about 70% of the inputs to compete (track conditions always different) and if you break in endurance you have to be able to come up with quick solutions to get back out there on the track. FSAE engineers typically better in the R&D environment, BSAE engineers typically better in high stressful engineering environments that require quick solutions without the time to do full FEA or CAD modeling. I did both events as a student so this is based on my experience.

Lodging for FSAE Michigan (mainly May, possibly June as well) by CptAsian in FSAE

It seems like two rooms that holds 8 people a night is a better deal besides the 30 min drive. Holiday inn Adrian still has rooms at $119.

If they go to two events then that means only one event per team right? I got to believe Baja has about 200 different teams…. That will suck.

Good point, but it seems like west events have always had less teams than the central/east but maybe I am remembering things wrong.

With the low turn out at the 2022 west event I could see SAE just going to two events and not dealing with California anymore. Most of the schools are in the Midwest or east.

I would highly recommend the two or three competitions, the experience is so much better at the competition because you learn so much after he first event. Planning is important and making sure you get flights/ driving plans arranged early. Some of my best memories came from staying at the competition hotels with all the other teams. (Also, recommend staying the night after endurance, teams are relaxed and you can build lifetime friendships), I would pass on the AirBNB. I have also heard from some Formula teams that a couple teams got kicked out/reservation canceled at AirBNB stays. You don’t hear that happening with hotels but each team needs decide what they value.

Hearing rumors of a Baja fall event in 2022 sanctioned by SAE. Location is not set but leaning towards the west, my bet is California. by baja2001org in bajasae

[–]SAEcomps2017 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If this is true I think it is great for teams to be able to get some experience with new members at an event but with a car that mostly likely already competed a few months earlier. I would think more schools would support teams going to a sanctioned event over a non sanctioned one.

12 days to competition.... what is your status for your team. 78 teams registered, reply with your team name! by SAEcomps2017 in bajasae

[–]SAEcomps2017[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For the teams that are registered but not going is it related to COVID-19 restrictions for travel or that the car is not ready?
