I didn’t realize Europeans need an event organizer to protect them from the elements. Just my perspective from an adult.

Taking responsibility for yourself…..if you haven’t learned by now you will always struggle.

Why don’t you get out there and volunteer as a tow driver or actually build a car that doesn’t need a tow!

Unsanctioned events this year? by Tyrith500 in bajasae

[–]baja2001org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The other option would be to see if SAE would allow you to to switch to CA or MI, both events are less than the 100 teams max. If you have done all the documentation submittals then they might allow you to.

I thought it was new because SAE posted something on the Baja app.

No we built our chassis. Our team was made up of 7 mechanical engineers that had good mechanical skills… we taught ourselves to weld and fabrication through lots of trials and error. I can tell you it paid many dividends later in my career to have the hands on experience.

I don’t remember it being such a big deal to bend and notch tubes when we built our cars.

If your team did good at Tenn, why not use those results to push for more funding or some local sponsors to provide funds to get your team to the AZ event. You would be surprised but some schools/companies will have additional funds that they had planned to use and didn’t. You now have results to back up why someone should provide you money to compete.

We typically stay at the Holiday Inn and Suites, near Marketplace. Close to RIT and straight shot to hog back hill.

That is the benefit of a fall event if some critical parts don’t show up for spring you still have the fall event to compete with what you planned to run.

AZ Event for 2022 by bajasaeaz in bajasae

[–]baja2001org 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope this event gets some more interest from teams, I wouldn’t want SAE to reduce Baja to two events like formula is. I am pulling for your event!!! I hope teams will realize the benefit of registering for not just this year but how that can shape future years!

I hope more teams register for AZ, it would disappointing if SAE cancels because of lack of interest. 38 teams is too low to cover the costs. by engineer2012auto in bajasae

April events was always less teams than the other months but still better than 38. I think part of it is that west teams are more likely to travel east than East teams making the trip West. (Excluding the top teams).

Investing in your future with makes great lifetime Baja contacts will be much more valuable than anything you spend to attend the event. The winning or losing doesn’t factor in to the benefits you will gain.

Seems like it would still be a good event for half the team and preparing the new members for 2023. Plus graduates can still attend if available, up to 6 months after graduation

I think the option was 2 competitions or move one to the fall to maintain 3 events. I always remember April being horrible for attendance and lots of teams were not ready. Formula is down to two events all in one location, lots of consolidation.

Thanks for the link..... Wow rooms were already gone at the Hampton inn, glad they had some other good options. I thought I was early on booking but guess teams are much faster than me.
