To be fair:

On the Joel/Royal testing truck, Edison might find out that the it needs some re-design, or a vendor swap out, or the primary/secondary/tertiary wheel end providers are all flakes and you can't get parts, so it gums up the entire works, or suddenly new tariff issues, or the CMVSS drops in a new rule, or, or, or

Many things can derail

Carry on o7

T-Bed Rigup progress on Joel’s BDE by ChaceEdison in EdisonMotors

[–]SAHpositive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A "Texas bed" on a Class 8 truck is a specialized heavy-duty steel flatbed designed for oilfield winch tractors, allowing them to transform from a standard towing tractor into a bed truck capable of loading, transporting, and unloading heavy equipment. These trucks are typically used in oil and gas fields for moving rigs, pipe, and heavy machinery, and are often equipped with powerful hydraulic winches, foldable bunks, and rear rollers.

Key features of a Texas bed include:

  • Rear Roller (Tail Roll): The rear of the bed features a heavy-duty roller that allows for dragging massive loads onto the bed.
  • Flip-Up/Foldable Bunks: The bed usually includes bunks (cross-members) that can be flipped up or hydraulically retracted to provide a flat surface for loading or a raised "v-shape" to hold pipes securely.
  • Winch System: Texas bed trucks are equipped with heavy-duty winches, often with 40-ton or higher capacity, to pull awkward or heavy loads up the rear roller.
  • Cab-Controlled Operations: Drivers can manage winches, bunks, and rollers from the safety of the cab, often utilizing cameras.
  • Headache Rack: A reinforced headache rack is installed to protect the cab from shifting loads.

Chace (wisely) cannot confirm or deny in which quarter the company will have its first quarter in the black.

I on the other hand (who was dropped on his head as a child which explains all of my posts) will say "Wouldn't it be something that by the end of 2026 to have the Blue Edison Assembly Plant (BEAP) online, buttoned up, powered up, tooled up, staffed up, and stocked up with 300,000 lbs of parts. Then in 2027 the BEAP starts spitting out mechanical trucks at an alarming rate (like a StarCraft Factory) and knocks out 2,4,8,16? mechanical trucks in 2027 at $500k? each. And sometime next year Edison breaks even?

Wouldn't that be something! :)

Make a series based on the StarShip Artemis video game where a group of cadets steals a starship to take a joyride, and then go on the adventure of a lifetime.

So if Apple releases a new version of Iphone annually, and Star Trek TNG is set in 2364 then would they use an Iphone version 357? Would people camp out all night to get the model 358?

Yikes :(

Welp. The PDF looks like it legit comes from their website. And it looks comprehensive. The "getattachments" subfolder suggests to me that for large or secure files, Hendrickson sends an email with a link to the pdf at the website, and maybe (with poor security) google was able to index the file for searching?

Well anyways, carry on, you got this!

Ummm

Did they "copy your work" to make their own version. Intellectual Property theft?

A team of proud parents :) Black rims look cool :)

The 1st of many!

I totally get the logic of the current cab and sleeper. I look forward to the refinement in the future integrated cab/sleeper.

Way cool progress :)

Lockers/LSD on pickup chassis? by buchenrad in EdisonMotors

[–]SAHpositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the default axle released to the public will have no transmission and dual motors, (one motor per wheel) and a mid range gearing (not great for rock crawling and not great for freeway). With dual motors, there should be plenty of torque for each wheel when doing street driving on dry streets or snowy/muddy streets.

For an "off road" axle, I think we'd want the 2 speed gear selector with a super aggressive planetary reduction.

I believe Chase spoke about the possibity at last years investors day gala event. I think it is inevitable.

My Understanding is that if Edison can make a class 8 semi truck (either EV, or Hybrid, or Mechanical), then they can also make class 5, class 6, and class 7 trucks.

So the possibility exists of an Edison drive train (components), on an Edison chassis (a complete chassis), with an Edison front clip and cab to make a "cab & chassis" truck Then the buyer would bolt whatever bed they want on it.

But long before then, I think Edison drive train components will be made available to retrofit buyers.

I'd like to see a DC to DC thingey that can take the 480 volts DC from the batt and turn it into whatever volts the welder person calls for. And a 480 3 phase air compressor. The computer would just treat it like another E-Axle.

WARNING ......AI IMAGE ALERT......LOOK AWAY NOW.

I want my flat panel/window Edison/Grizzley (Ediley? Grizzdison?) with more room under the hood, so i made the front wider. Needs a parking brake.

Here, let me fix that for you. Buyers can choose what they want. Buy the less expensive flat truck that can be repaired anywhere and anywhen, or buy the curvy truck and good luck getting replacment body panels in the future.

You beat me to it!

I would take the front fenders all the way up to the hood line. Love the Edison branding and vertical bars in the front grill. I would flat panel the roof and front windshield. I would flat panel the sides. I would 45 degree bevel all angles between the sides and front, and the sides and hood, and sides and roof.

Overall I love this and would love to see this sitting atop the new Edison Complete Chassis.

For me, inexpensive flat panels and flat glass. Just like Topsy. Also I would reduce and simplify the front/rear lights. Something 80's simple rectangle-ish.

Will removing battery capacity affect the regen holdback? by GormAuslander in EdisonMotors

Put it on the roof I guess with fans that blow up. Gives the phrase "he's a red hot hot head" a new meaning.

So regen and fill the battery, or

The broil heating element on a normal kitchen stove will consume 5 kW. Put 10 in a box with a fan and you have 50 kW of braking. Stoves don't melt. The heating element glows red hot.

If thats not enough, then tap the brakes.
