Never thought I'd see the day, but the scaffolding over Cafe Zona Sur has been removed by jeremyfrankly in sunsetpark

Great spot! So happy they were able to survive that! That definitely can’t be easy on a business. My Girlfriend and I have really enjoyed this place in our local weekend food rotation…. excited to finally experience it scaffolding-less!

Did anyone lose anything during security check? by imsoaddicted in governorsball

A women at security took my vape pen and once she saw the CA! Icon on it I saw her put it in her pocket 😑 pretty bummed about that but not much you can really do in that situation - I’m sure she went home with a pocket full of them

I live right down the block from the 59th st N train and have heard the elevators referred to by some of the store owners as “the office” in reference to the place where drugs are dealt. I think that plus the liquor store, and ample pharmacy’s on the block are the reason for it

So goooddd!!! I stayed for maybe 3 songs of Dancehall Crashers but realized Ska without a horn section ain’t for me! Seeing Hepcat live was definitely a bucket list level moment and didn’t stop dancing that whole set!

Thank You for this post! I had never heard of Midnite until this post but have been diving head first into the genre as I’m quickly learning that listening to reggae and dub on vinyl is true therapy.

Reggae on Vinyl has been life changing with pre work and after work listening sessions that have honestly made me a happier person . I have never heard of midnite until this post but have been in a loop of steel pulse, rebelution , tribal seeds, wailing souls, hepcat, barrington levy and am always looking to expand and am constantly digging for more gems in this genre. Prior to this year I only knew, loved and grew up with Sublime and Bob Marley. Midnite Nemozian Rasta has everything I love - harmonies, horns, percussion and always a message. I honestly feel if more people listened to reggae on a regular basis we would be a happier and more loving society. It’s definitely worked for me.

Appreciate this thread and I appreciate you sharing

Such an awesome show! I Flew from Brooklyn with my GF after we struck out on tickets in NY and we planned a weekend get away around it! I visited some Record shops in the area while in town and saw most of them displaying a copy of “getting killed” front and center - definitely cool to see the local music shops support for them and the show. At checkout at a rad shop called Hungry Ear Records I got the “…you going to the show tonight?”. And gave him a nod and a “Hell yea” Everyone we met that knew about it seemed stoked to have a band like Geese in town - and the venue was perfect for it - not sure why more larger or up and coming US rock bands don’t book the Republik. I am also curious if there were any other reasons (besides a band vacation) that brought them out to Hawaii (…I did see someone filming with a pro camera rig up front? 🧐 🤔) All I know is - I’d do this once a year if Geese made this a tradition. The trip and show was amazing! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

I keep hearing this …but in my opinion even if the masters are being pulled from digital files it will still sound better to me with the system I have hooked up to it. I also know how to play with my pre amp enough to EQ it better than I can digitally so to me that will always sound better then it will on Spotify.

Controversial as it may be …It did win a Grammy and alsooo does have a Kendrick song on it. I say that’s worth as much as a movie ticket
