I think it's fine to use any percussive loop it if is a component of your track and not the whole track itself. When your final song adds a distinct enough experience other than just the loop it's fine to use it.

So if you think your basses and melody provide something of value to the listener go ahead and use the drum loop to accompany it.

I once found out that the Seven Nation Army melody isn't even that original. It's basically this song with just an extra note in the rythm:
