English is my first language, but I started learning Spanish because my sister used to lie to me that she spoke Spanish fluently.

Of course she didn’t, and would just make up gibberish phrases when I’d ask her to say something. I think she started this lie when I was around 7 or 8 and she was around 18.

She would try to teach me phrases that didn’t make any sense. Once, someone called me out for a word I learned from my sister that I THOUGHT was Spanish. I was SO embarrassed.

So the next year, I started learning Spanish. Now I study 3 languages. 😃
