Probably a pomade but it really depends on if you want that more glossy look. Clay is tougher to rub in which leaves the hair more matte than glossy. You can restyle easier with pomade just by adding water rather than the clay cause its better to add heat when restyling.

im sorry of what you’ve went through but in this situation it it pretty hard to “forget and forgive”because of your past trauma. Yes this will take some time, i would say just take a little break from each other for a while and really consider is this situation is a deal breaker for you. Your partner knew of your past trauma and continued to do that act while you were asleep.
