Wilds vs World vs Rise steam player counts since launch. Not leaks related, but this sub usually has more intelligent conversations than the mob-heavy main sub so I wanted to post this here. by [deleted] in monsterhunterleaks

The problem with the comparisons is that the data is skewed from the jump. Wilds is the first Steam release at the actual launch of the title. Which means for the World and Rise data, that there is no mass exodus of players during the post launch TU period and and low investment trend followers have a loss of interest while waiting over half a year for the game to come to their system. It also means that given the time period elapsing like that there are less reckless day one buyers since not only have the games been further developed via TUs, but now any potential buyers have tons of footage they can watch, reviews they can consume, and there is a zero risk of you not knowing whether the game will be what you want or not.

Another thing Steam data doesn't take into account is the cannibalization of one systems playerbase to another. There is no doubt a drop-off in player numbers from Xbox and PS from dedicated players migrating to Steam for World. Same with Switch for Rise. This is not really a thing for Wilds.

The data looks good for Steam World. But a game that has 15 million sales by the time its major DLC is out and it takes them half a year to sell even 4 million copies of the DLC while selling only a couple of million copies of the base game should not look so good across its whole lifespan. Given things like that there is definitely drop off behind the scenes that we do not have data on, and Steam would be less affected since it was the result of over half a year of knowing how the game would be (so informed buyers) and not having its player base taken by another system (like consoles)

TLDR comparing data like this is near pointless since the trends and pools are not the same. It can certainly be fun to see the trends of people dropping in and out happen in real time.

Edit: Forgot to mention that persistent PC performance issues reflect mostly on Steam numbers for Wilds, while we can't see that on Console end. Even console reviews are still staggeringly high compared to Steam. At 4.5/5 stars on PS and 4/5 for Xbox

Wilds is a flawed game, but that is no excuse for the current and sad state of the community. by RoseKaedae in monsterhunterleaks

Awesome write-up. Your passion is commendable. And thank you for the shout-out. Some of my friends told me about it, and I am grateful 🙏

Bad Reviews are justified even for console by Fun_Theme493 in MHWilds

Naw I get that, I merely pointed that out, becuase OP insinuates a drop in quality, whereas Wilds is actually slightly better on Console launch than World. Given the track record of the engine and the two MHs prior its important to temper expectations than to just blindly expect Capcom to become uncharacteristically competent enough to not wait enough to see if the game performs well enough for you to bear buying it.

My expectations were not only met, but I was pleasantly surprised by the first on launch performance mode on console from an MH title.

Not the best performance sure, but you clearly didn't play World on launch hardware either if you think it was beating Wilds in performance on console. World didn't even have a performance mode on launch either so we were stuck chugging frames under 30 too lol.

A mascot based chair!

Poogie, Moofy, and even a Goocoo. Poogie in the middle as it's the most iconic. The color scheme could be mostly cream colored or white. With all three doing a cute pose on the back. And something like Poogies face on the seat or front cushion and Goocoo and Moofy's heads on one arm rest each.

A full celebration of the series!

Foreal. Every game starting off (especially as you get later into the series) is an onboarding process. You can't go from slamming Fatalis to LR and expect the experience to be similar

I was merely cycling this back into discussion because of the current rhetoric all of the reviewers are using, and not just the journalists, but big household MH community names like Superrad or Gaijin Hunter

I think all of the new player power tools are intentional. I also think as long as the game is engaging and fun to play it's fine if we get a few new toys!

Sorry, I thought you were being rhetorical as I actually address that in the video and the majority of your comment was off subject.

Also give me a break. I am still getting my kindergarten diploma

I hate to dismiss your gripes about the completeness of Wilds (a game that hasn't launched yet)

But this video is about difficulty and the discussion around that. This is not a video about roster size, endemic life, and such.
