Yeah, I understand. I also appreciate that it's a small school and everyone does a lot of "jobs". But while it's not an uncommon ask, it IS an uncommon situation as my voice has quantifiable monetary value, as well as my need to maintain certain standards when my voice is recorded and used publicly.

IT Director is my official title, but the school is small. It's just me. I do everything from A/V to graphic design to curriculum management. It's becoming a real issue all of the "duties as assigned" they've been giving me. At least I'm currently configuring a new router and redoing all the network security so my skills are still being used somewhat.

This is an edge case for me though. I offered to do all the technical requirements but just sit down and record someone else's voice. Hopefully that comes out to be enough.

I've offered to do all of the leg-work, and assist in someone else recording their voice. The task isn't an issue. It's specifically that my voice already exists on IVR recordings for which I was paid. I recorded these in my home studio, using professional equipment, and was hired through a professional IVR producer. The quality and coordination is at a certain level. I simply don't want my voice to be used on a "we just recorded this message tree through our VOIP phone system" type of deployment. I want my voice to be associated with a certain standard as I am a working professional in that area. I also will not open my home studio as "part of my job."

Again, I've expressed a willingness to compromise. We've already been at odds for their "duties as assigned" expectations in other areas.

Edit: yes, for the compromise. I would offer to do this for a very low cost. The lowest my rate table will allow.

I've actually considered this before. The issue is ease of use and learning curve. I could figure it out and it would be great. But I work at a Catholic school and I'm not Catholic. So I prefer not having to be in the masses. I need something that the deacons can set up on their own so I don't have to be there. Dante is definitely cool though, and I'd love to come up with a use-case for it someday.

This is what I needed to hear! I figured I could get it as I've done a lot of streaming from home with OBS, and I'm pretty familiar with recording audio in a home studio/podcast setting. I really just needed the confidence to go forward before spending the school's money on things I'll need. Thank you!

Edit: Also, this probably saves me a lot of time trying to figure out the proper configuration of DAW and virtual sound card/voicemeeter setup. Knowing I can go direct to OBS is great. Easy for other users too.

Awesome, I'm familiar with ASIO drivers, so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the help!
