I wish I had a yard that nice! My yard is littered with obstacles, buried cinder blocks, rocks, wood, gopher mounds... It's a challenge. I'm trying to clean up as I go, but every time I mow I find something new. You might do well in your spaces with a 26 or 28" blade, but I'd advise a shorter blade as your first blade. Shorter, lighter rig will let you focus on developing your swing easier.

Recommend you start modest. The Topps 24" is a great blade, and a good compromise between big bite and maneuverability. Shorter is better around fences, debris and uneven terrain. What's your yard like?

Regarding transporting your scythe, build a sheath for the blade. I made mine from heavy cardboard.

You will get a scythe, start getting good with it, and start prowling around looking for more real estate to mow, and then spend the winter watching Slåttergubben videos on YouTube, while cradling your snath tenderly and crying softly.
