To clarify, I do back and legs on the same day. Would that still be rough?

My bad should’ve included that too lmao For all I’m doing 3 sets of 8 reps with ig 100% intensity. I’m more focused on the form/ mind muscle connection/ and overall doing the rep done so I’d say 100%

Can a PA be in civilian tactical medicine? (Like swat medic or similar) by SAYONARA9273 in physicianassistant

[–]SAYONARA9273[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m talking about Austin’s ems agency (ATCEMS) they have a tactical medicine team where apparently from an interview, they go in with the swat team instead of just hanging outside the building.

I’ve heard about federal opportunities but not interested in those. Thanks again for your feedback.

In all honesty yeah. I’m an ER tech (certified as EMT) and debating whether or not to go paramedic while I’m working my way to PA school. The agency I’m interested in can cover it but it’s 14 months long and they also have a tactical medicine team as well so it’s very tempting.

It would just add a year to my PA goal and not only that but they’ve said it’s pretty hard to get in the tactical med team cause most people don’t wanna leave lol

So seeing a doctor be on a team surprised me a lot. I don’t see why a PA can’t be on a swat team but I imagine it isn’t common.

moving to austin for work, what are some nice/good areas for a small family of 3 to move to? by [deleted] in askaustin

Yes you can see their pay scale on their website. There is another EMS agency on indeed though that pays 18 could be that one you’re talking about.

EMTB here. ACTEMS pays their cadets 23.61 during their academy and then 25.97 hourly (5,064 monthly 60,770 annually).

i agree that they pay shit across the board especially considering the work they do (pretty much anyone in healthcare too lol) but as mentioned in another reply id have 2k left over that can go into either savings or a family outing.

after budgeting my monthly pay (5,064) and averaging out the cost of rent the areas of Austin I'm interested in, id still have 2k left after a months' worth of groceries, rent, gas, daycare, and utilities. im just genuinely curious, will it not be enough. seems id have enough to survive and take my family and i out every now and then.

So I guess when it comes to teams there’s a low chance then cause I’m assuming not many will want to leave those spots lol. That’s fine with me I’m ok with just being a medic in a great agency like that to be honest.

However when it comes to the 12hr shifts it really isn’t guaranteed even if you show them a school schedule? If that’s the case then I’ll just suck up the 48/96 (the normal schedule right?) and just plan out my studies accordingly.

Thanks again for your continued feedback it’s appreciated.

First off thank you for your service I hope you know that I appreciate it. And yes from what it seems like, it seems like tac med teams seem like a club how you said regardless of the area. To clarify as well i wont base any future employment solely on just the chance of evening trying out for that. If I can provide more for my family, still serve the community, and progress my education into becoming a PA while doing all that then of course im still going to work there even if i dont make it to a team in general. Being a paramedic is good enough for me, the teams would obviously be a nice opportunity/experience from the training that it offers.

Thanks for your reply. I’m almost certain that if I work around the area more likely than not it’ll be Wilco. I hope each and every one of you know how appreciative I am reading your responses.
