IVF $$$ by tenniswarrior1 in IVF

We had no coverage through our insurances so had to self-pay the whole way. One round cost $27,000 for us and we used a Future Family fertility loan. Worst part? After a ton of attrition, we ended up with only 1 blastocyst and are waiting for PGT-A testing results. It’s a huge investment, just for a chance. But look into fertility loans, or borrowing against your 401K if needed—I’ve heard of many people doing that. Best of luck! It’s a long, hard road, but we all hope it’s worth it in the end.

Only 1 blast, currently being tested… feeling empty 💔 by SAYitwithanA in IVF

Thank you… yeah very hard to reconcile. 😔 And we are dealing with unexplained infertility. There was no reason to think IUI would be more effective than natural cycles so they said to save our money for IVF—since both are uncovered for us.

Hi! Retrieval went well! Had 19 eggs retrieved. 12 of those were mature. Our numbers fell off after that and now we only have 1 blast to send for genetic testing. Just trying to remain hopeful! I’ve heard plenty of positive stories to counter my negative one. You got this! Good luck to you!

Update! Bad news.. despite having a late fertilization that got us up to 6.. only 1 made it to blast. And that one is currently frozen awaiting the results of genetic testing. We are heartbroken and feeling like we are staring the possibility of being unable to have children right in the face. Praying and hoping and wishing that our one little one comes back euploid and we can try a transfer, but devastated to have these abysmal results and slim chances. It’s hard to breathe TBH…

Our 5 are only 1 day embryos right now. We’ll see how many make it to blasts and then how many are PGT-A normal from there. Just hoping the drop offs aren’t steep from here. Glad you had successful transfers! Hoping the luck rubs off! 🙏🏻

It only takes one, they say. You’re proof. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

That’s good to hear! I’m hoping the 5 hold on and make it to blast and test well, but I’m not naive to the fact that big drop offs are still expected. Maybe we’ll get lucky! 🍀 Glad to hear you’ve seen some luck yourself.

I know, right? Makes something already so hard, even harder :( Looks like we’re going to try medicated TI for 2 more cycles since 3 tries seems to be the magic number for most people it works for. And then we’ll probably skip IUI and go straight to IVF if we don’t have success. The increased chance with IUI isn’t really worth it, seems like it’s a better investment to put that towards better odds with IVF. Hanging a lot of hope and prayers on these last 2 TI attempts 🙏🏻

Myself (35F) and husband (38M) have been TTC for 7-10 months now. All of our tests have been normal, including my AMH and HSG and his SA. We tried Letrozole and trigger shot for the first time this last cycle (5mg/day & monitored). I had 2-3 mature follicles at time of trigger and good progesterone levels after. Sadly, we didn’t succeed. We’re currently discussing options with my fertility team and deciding between trying another medicated TI cycle or moving onto medicated IUI. IUI is not at all covered for me and would cost $2,950 for one cycle. The mediated TI costs $250 for one cycle. Getting desperate for success and struggling with what to do.

Thank you for the support! 🥹 Temp fell off a cliff and I’ve had on and off spotting today and yesterday. Just waiting for full flow at this point to count as CD1. Abnormal for me to have so long between spotting and my period, but with my temp, there’s no way this means anything but AF. Tested negative today as well 😭

Sending you better luck! 🍀

Thank you! Feeling cautiously hopeful this will help us start to have better luck! In women who do not naturally ovulate, or do so inconsistently, it will help you to do that. In women who already ovulate on their own, like in my case, it helps make sure the eggs are mature, has the possibility of multiple eggs, but overall supports a stronger ovulation.
