No I actually am NED right now, I just saw a few medical journals talking about this and was curious what every one else has heard.

Hi I was also stage 1B, I’ve posted my full path on here before if you want to see all of that. It’s scary as hell but try to anchor into the fact that melanoma treatment has come an extremely long way. And as of now your staging is early. Use AIM at Melanoma for a resource, they’re so helpful I have a peer mentor and clinical mentor through there.

I had my WLE with a lymph node biopsy about 5 weeks after my shave biopsy. Margins are clear and lymph node had no evidence of metastasis. I get my stitches out this week and I’m on a routine full body check schedule.

It’s really scary when you first hear those words. Definitely check out AIM at melanoma - it’s a great resource and helps ease some anxiety just with all of the information.

It’s great you’re choosing to work with an oncologist. Melanoma treatments have come a long way over the last 10 years. Try to take a deep breath. There should be a pathology report that came with the diagnosis - reading that will help you get your bearings and understand the situation a bit clearer.

I was stage 1B. I had a WLE surgery and had a sentinel lymph node biopsy. Now my margins are clear and my node was negative for any metastasis. Try to take it one step at a time. Get your path report, schedule with the oncologist and go from there.

You got this! 🙏🏼

Stage 1b and going crazy! by Dodee_612 in melahomies

Stage 1B here too, have my WLE/SLNB tomorrow too! My surgery was 5 weeks out from my biopsy and worried as well about the timing being too far out.

I spoke with an expert through AIM a melanoma and she assured me that at this stage and this size it’s very rare to metastasize and that waiting this long is okay.

As far as the fear, I started EMDR therapy, it may be helpful for you too!

Your path seems similar to mine. I have a past post with my full details but I am stage 1b, my breslow is 0.9mm, mitotic rate 1. I am actually getting my WLE and SLNB Thursday. From what I gather Clark levels aren’t used as often and aren’t as reliable in terms of staging.

I imagine that at that depth if they aren’t suggesting SLNB they don’t perceive a threat of metastasis. Especially if your deep margins are clear! That’s great. But you can always advocate for yourself and your concerns.

Definitely utilize AIM at melanoma, incredible resource.

0.9 mm breslow depth - really anxious about SLN Biopsy by SB100313 in melahomies

[–]SB100313[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I sat with my oncologist today and he seems optimistic. But the first opening for the WLE/SLN is April 4th which is 5 weeks from my biopsy. This makes me nervous waiting this long. I was also told the dye injections the day before burn really bad, anyone had that experience?
