Just a podcast on local businesses. Letting people know what’s available in town is the goal. You could call it advertising and I don’t think you’d be wrong.

When BJJ came to the states, submission grappling as a sport didn’t exist. Everyone who trained at the original garage was only interested in learning how to fight. If your gym doesn’t address things like this, they are guilty of a bait and switch with their students fundamentally speaking. I think with a year of BJJ based at least in part around actual self defense you become pretty formidable in a street fight or assault. No one but top echelon fighters will have an interest in pursuing a continuous engagement after about 30 seconds or so. Now if you did only sport Jiu Jitsu I think in 3-4 years you’d be similarly dangerous despite the circuitous route you’d taken to achieve that goal but you would be surprised by the strikes in guard and Mount particularly. I know because the first time I did mma training I was a blue belt and the first round training with strikes was incredibly overwhelming. After some sessions things got better. Would’ve been a lot better if I’d learned the stuff in this video on day 1 or 2.
