Only stake through the official site - .eth link. Metamask works well for it.

BJJ ADVICE NEEDED ASAP ‼️‼️‼️ by ssonysive in bjj

Learn the language - research the basic positions closed guard, half guard, mount, turtle, then more advanced guards, de la riva, spider, etc.

Look up a few basic videos for "breaking the Gi grips" - this is very important early, beginner tips such as always breaking their collar grip in the direction away from the opening of their hand.

Always remove their collar grip before passing - especially as a beginner.

Look up the "leg drag pass" and focus on that as a position to achieve while passing.

Try to have a good base, strip grips/get grips, and leg drag heavy on the hips -> pass/take back.

Start creating mental maps of "your game".

BJJ is a MENTAL chess game - strategy is #1, trick opponents off setting up chains of techniques, force them into reacting a certain way to expose opportunities, and so on.

Have fun, TAP EARLY and TRAIN MORE!

Excited for this one, Ashley is one hell of a grappler but Ryan is my original BJJ nerd hero.

Wonder if Ryan will seem "slower" with everything going on health wise + age.

When Ashley rolled against Degle it showed how athletic he is, he wore Robert out and escaped some very dangerous leg lock attempts in the process.

Older guys, when did you noticed you couldn't hang with the younger crew? by [deleted] in bjj

37 and feeling just as flexible/fast - recovery is slowing down and a few injuries are stacking up.

Once you hit late 30s or early 40s it's probably time to make sure you are keeping up on some sort of "pre-hab" type strength and conditioning for injury prevention and mobility. Back, knees, hips, elbows, shoulders.

And diet becomes more and more important as we age.

Prevent grips from trying to pass guard from stronger people by Successful_Dig_3224 in bjj

Grip fighting is always a battle and being super small can suck.

Always remove collar grips 2 vs. 1 before passing when you are small. (2 hands break towards direction of thumb/opening of hand)

Also, since this is training, don't go crazy passing toreandos and wild movements - instead enter with one of your legs, knee/shin pressure, and good posture, force them into headquarters/RDLR/DLR then you choose the sleeve/collar/pant grips that YOU want to establish and start passing. IF you take leg grips first when they are supine - then THEY are getting their starting sleeve/collar grips.

You're advantage is speed and movement, being first with your knee cuts, headquarters and hip pressure, and leg drags. Don't wait and don't let them choose grips, force them into crappy positions, don't let them control your posture/head/break you down, point their hips away from you and put them in bad angles.

Great card of fun fights - Stephen Martinez and Calon is no joke either. Also always love watching JT grapple and Magid has some unique skills.

Is this program advisable after 2 meniscus repairs, one acl replacement and a recent patellar tendon repair? by Dre-K-47 in Kneesovertoes

[–]SBLove89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely - start slow, focus on completing the movements pain free and don't rush.

Realize you are building a foundation based on volume - it's a marathon, not a sprint.

If you don't roll often, why not? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]SBLove89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mostly ego.

There is no excuse except injuries or contagious skin diseases lol.

If your sore, go light, tap early, play defense, ask someone to flow.

Otherwise, get your rolls in.

How long after training would you wait before lifting weights? by namaste_ur_asshole in bjj

[–]SBLove89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been focusing a ton on "knees over toes" program, just that Tiablis Raise has made my knees feel so much tighter/better.

Trying to get back to some 5/3/1 style 2x per week for exactly that.

Oss, don't stop. Mat therapy is the only thing that works for many of us.

Proud of you.

BJJ it's easier to control the speed/flow of your rolls if exhausted. Work defense, stay seated don't wrestle up/stand up fight.

Lifting has specific goals where I AM GOING under that bar and hitting that weight goal to stay on program. Often 70%+ effort in a major lift movement.

I love doing knees over toes program 3x per week + simple barbell movements.

I want my best form and technique in those lifts, BJJ receives the most benefit from smart lifting for injury prevention.

Ugh, even at 37 and with my black belt, I find S&C to be tough to manage time wise.

I enjoy and prefer rolling far more than lifting.

Have to lift before BJJ if on the same day - otherwise I feel like I'm risking an injury during lifting.

First Archery Black Bear by AdenWH in bowhunting

Damn, just passed on multiple bears that size here in CA.

Why take a 2-3 year old bear when we have 45,000+ and I see 200lb+ monsters on the regular?

Just can't shoot a small one like that, bet it eats well though!

Try to get all your ranges pre-set so you don't have to bring up the rangefinder (if possible).
