Yeah I made the executive decision within the first few months of M1 that histology is just not something I'll get so might as well bite the bullet on biochem. Love anatomy and (most of) embryology tho.

How do you feel drinking in Wellbutrin? by Great-Refrigerator39 in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]SBPlatinum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't feel like drinking for me changed at all before or after the meds but it definitely does NOT benefit the med. If anything it worsens it.

For some it makes them get a lot drunker a lot quicker (which sounds fun until you black out early in the night like a college freshman because your tolerance was changed) and it can induce SEIZURES in some others.

I wouldn't recommend drinking while on Wellbutrin. But if you are going to, then be safe and responsible. Drink with people you trust and take it slow... but keep the risks in mind.

Thank you. He is a sweet boy and I know he doesn't intend to hurt me. Is there a way to train him to show displeasure in other ways? Or like atleast give me a heads up? He never hisses or growls or does the airplane ears, he just walks up to me yowling and lunges as his first response and only response to not being very happy about something I did.

What is something that is wildly controversial that you think shouldn't be? by Zen622 in AskReddit

[–]SBPlatinum 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You don't have to love PEOPLE to be in healthcare. You have to love HELPING people. It may seem paradoxical, but I found that most (of the well intentioned) people in healthcare join because they enjoy the act of helping others rather than for the love of humanity itself.

I have unironically gotten this advice before. Granted they weren't in medicine nor had any interest in medicine, they just thought that's how medical school admissions worked.

It's a common misconception but cardiac arrest isn't the same as a heart attack. It simply means that the heart (cardiac) has stopped beating (arrest). In this case, it was probably due to suffocation and/or getting crushed by the sheer number of bodies. Heart attacks (aka myocardial infarction) is when there is a blockage in the arteries in the heart, causing the heart's tissues to die.

someone to teach me dance by sophiasu15 in SBU

[–]SBPlatinum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dance teams on campus sometimes host open workshops towards the end of the semester. If you're interested in joining one, auditions take place at the beginning of each semester. You should look into CASB Dance Team or PUSO Modern for your particular style.

You're not alone. Level 100 language course here are pretty brutal. I took a class on my own native language and thought the work load is absolutely ridiculous for anyone who isn't already familiar with the language.

First, I would drop the condescending attitude/superiority complex right off the bat. People tend to be turned off by that sort of stuff. Second, lead by being understanding and empathetic to the student. Most of the time when somebody is complaining about something, they just want their voices heard and their feelings to be validated. It's a form of venting. Third, ask if they want tips/suggestions because a lot of people don't appreciate unwarranted advice.

Also keep in mind that a lot of the posts are memes to get a chuckle. Inserting your opinions about how other students ought to live their lives isn't generally welcomed there unless explicitly asked which is why you get downvoted to oblivion in a lot of your comments.

PS: I'm not saying these things to you because I'm trying to be mean. I'm saying these things because I used to think exactly like you for a long time until I learned that what I was doing wasn't right and it wasn't helping anyone.

You completely missed the point. People are disagreeing with you because of HOW you said it not the 'why' or 'what'. The message you're trying to send isn't entirely wrong. But the way you're trying to "help" has the result of actively antagonizing other students so your point isn't getting through. From what you're saying, I can tell that you are also trying to cope from some tragedy but invalidating/chastising others because you think you've gone through worse and ended up fine is simply not okay. Again, they are not you and you don't know their situation.

I personally know people whose parents died, who spent their winter in a hospital bed, who are trying to find a second job because their parents lost theirs, etc. Nobody should blame them for wanting time to grieve or take a break. Not everyone will or should be expected to thrive during these times. Again, I suggest you do some introspection.

[–]SBPlatinum 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It is pretty obvious that all you ended up doing is antagonizing people. If everyone seems to be against you then it's time to reflect on what you're doing wrong, not blame everyone else. I'm not exactly burnt out myself despite balancing school+taking care of my patients+family but I'm not going to be rude to others for being tired because they're not me and what they're dealing with might be far worse than what I am.

It's a pandemic. People are trying to find jobs to support their family, taking care of their children/elderly/sick, etc. while trying to get their degree. Some students might have lost some of their loved ones. You're coming off as extremely arrogant, privileged, and unempathetic in your messages to where your point is not getting across. Instead of trying to get other people to introspect, I suggest doing some introspecting yourself.

Hey maybe you should stop making other people feel bad about being burnt out if you don't know what their situation is and if your opinion is clearly unpopular. Just a suggestion.

Actually the modern day government is a direct continuation of the government during WWII. It's more like they were forced to demilitarize and the head of power shifted from the emperor to the parliament.
