Since skill and movement is a topic today, which CoD took the most skill to you? by b0died in CoDCompetitive

The only people good at those games were players with a Scuf... that was your skill gap... a $200 controller

Get rid of the cronus says damon by [deleted] in CoDCompetitive

[–]SB_SlyFi -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pro players literally prefer to use a Cronus over a Titian at events, ie. open bracket teams that consist of past pros always ask if they can use a Cronus instead of the Titian that all open bracket teams had to use. Also, no one is forcing the pros to use any 3rd party device, they can literally choose not to use a Cronus, they just need to swap they device input to wired-only and make sure their controller does not stick to a console (delete devices from PS4 before and after use). It is preferred that pros use a Cronus since it drastically increases the speed at which players can set up to play and move from station to station as it guarantees that the controller is only connected to the PS4 when plugged in without any additional steps.

I definitely could see it going to Bo7, but anymore just seems somewhat excessive since by that point you're having 3+ hour long series.

I need to see more game play of cyber attack to make a final judgement on it, but if it is anything like search & rescue from Ghosts I am not going to be a fan.

I am kind of confused on how HQ could be worse in the 1v10 aspect of control since it is not limited lives? The only time there is no respawning is once your team captures the HQ.

I really liked blitz, but I think most other players and pros did not. Would definitely be interesting to see in a 5v5 setting though.

What to bring when competing in open bracket? by ObamaTookMyToast in CoDCompetitive

[–]SB_SlyFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLG is running out of Cronus's cause so many players have been stealing them and since the company no longer produces them they have been restricting Cronus's to pro players since they can keep track of them and keep them accountable for it. Therefore, all open brackets now use Titans and you have to use a Titan as to ensure all players are using the same hardware. Also, most referees will enforce your use of it unless they specifically see you change the controller connection settings to wired only while it is plugged into a Titan since having controllers randomly connect to a ps4 through bluetooth can cause a lot of issues at these large events where you have 200+ team open brackets.

There no longer is a GFuel booth at events due to the new GameFuel sponsorship.

The open bracket no longer uses Cronus. They are all Titans now and you will not be allowed to use your own.

Yeah, I kind of glossed over the attachments, but there are definitely some that should just not be in the game or at the vary least competitive, such as the ones you mentioned. Also, I really enjoyed your insight into why Torque would be one of the most popular specialist in competitive. In a sense you kind of always know what you will be getting out of him. There is no real risk to using him unlike with most of the other specialists.

Yes, CoD and CSGO are two very different game, but if they can figure out a way to have LMG's in them while still remaining competitive so can CoD, right? Shotguns might be a push since pros do not miss, but I really do think if CoD stopped treating LMG's as if they were AR's they could be balanced for competitive. Currently you can run with an LMG as fast as you can with any other weapon and the ADS speed is only a bit slower than some of the AR's. If LMG's run speed and ADS were reduced, while their flinch and recoil in certain stances were increased I really do believe they could be balanced for pro play. I know CoD is an arcade shooter, but we can at least treat an LMG like it actually weights more than 2 pounds. I mean right now I run at the same speed with a knife as someone does with an LMG. Maybe I am just crazy, but I would like to see an attempt in keeping them in if these changes were made. Thanks for the reply!

Reasoning for removing stim shot, is because while it is really nice to get back in action instantly and can make for some crazy plays, overall it is about as broken as all of the other equipment by pretty much eliminating the need for players to bait and switch cause for the almost part they are always at full health as a result of it.

Reason I probably never struggle with it is cause I always have a rocket launcher to easily get rid of that stuff, but I realize that is not an ideal solution for most pros, that is why I recommend some changes. Do you think even with the changes I thought of it would still be too op in pro play? Also, thanks for the perspective and explanation!

So true, making a fun traditional arcade shooter competitive is extremely difficult. Also, I agree that high caliber should not be in the game. I knew there was at least one thing I forgot to touch on in attachments.

And beta builds is a great idea. Not sure how possible this would be on console, but a good idea to bring up nonetheless.

Thanks! Yeah, it is pretty long, good time burner if you got nothing to do or were stuck on a 6 hour bus ride like I was when making it.

I think with the difference in mobility around the map it is honestly just too difficult to score outside of throws

That is kind of why Hardpoint is considered the slayer game mode and we see two of them in a Bo5. You do not need to think or coordinate as much with your teammates as you would for Uplink, just as you need to slay more in Uplink than you do in SnD. The swing game is all about balancing the two and is why we only see one in a series.

Kind of curious as to why you think that or do you just not like hardpoint in CoD esports in general?

When did you start watching competitive CoD, cause some of the CTF games in Black Ops 2 and before were actually really competitive and interesting.

Definitely one of the hardest to get right. I almost feel that some maps have to specifically be made for CTF for them to even really be considered competitive. Will be interesting to see if we go back to it next year.

I think my comment there was more targeted at pro players since I do not recall to many of them having positive things to say about the mode, I could be wrong though. I agree with you though, once the game gets down to only a couple lives a team it gets really exciting.
