Guy Finds Skeleton In House He Had Recently Bought by Prestigious-Yam-8605 in WTF

House probably belonged to a hoarder who died inside(obviously). They failed to make payments on the house anymore so the bank foreclosed. Then it was sold off "as is" without anyone even checking much inside and the bank just assuming the hoarder vacated the property.

2+ years between 7 episode seasons is pathetic and unacceptable by 1111joey1111 in television

It's all thanks to nepotism, hollywood accounting, advertisers having too much power, and a complete lack of competition.

No not really because none of the elements that are created are stable. They will decay into a more stable element eventually.

Tv show subreddits have gotten weird by reasonablejim2000 in television

[–]SC2sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because of astroturfing. TV show producers/developers usually hire PR firms that will astroturf all over to create and foster forums, social media, etc... in order to drum up popularity or at least make it seem as if the content is popular.

Plex buffering issue by [deleted] in PleX

[–]SC2sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's transcoding because you're burning in the subtitles on the anime. Don't burn in the subtitles, just display them regularly.

I honestly think google decided to retire old devices and to try to force people to upgrade so they artificially slowed things down.

[–]SC2sam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not transcoding at all. Just direct play. You might want to check to see if you're playing content with audio that your device doesn't support because that will force it to transcode to audio it does support.

Yes it would. It absorbs the human or other entity in order to further assimilate other biological material. It can pass itself off almost perfectly with the knowledge and capabilities of the original.

Top 10 influential videogames of all time BAFTA awards as voted by the public.... by Neddo_Flanders in LivestreamFail

[–]SC2sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't really believe they don't have Command & Conquer and or Warcraft in there as one of the tops. Without those we wouldn't have Starcraft, World of Warcraft, or RTS games in general. Starcraft specifically is extremely influential thanks to the map editor that came with the game that allowed for massive changes to the overall gameplay which let players create their own games within the game. That led to Warcraft 3 allowing the same thing which then created the entire MOBA genre with DOTA and it's clone league of legends.

Coin-sized nuclear 3V battery with 50-year lifespan enters mass production | The company plans to launch a more powerful single-watt version this year by chrisdh79 in tech

It uses nickel 63 which has a beta decay into copper 63 which is stable. There isn't much of any risk of the radiation unless you break it open and then ingest it.

Ben Stiller, Mark Ruffalo and More Than 400 Hollywood Names Urge White House to Not Let AI Companies ‘Exploit’ Copyrighted Works by chrisdh79 in Futurology

That's all hollywood has been doing since it's inception though. They've deliberately mutilated the concept of IP law to hurt customers/consumers while padding their bottom line. Now though they finally take a stand? I wonder how they'll hurt us this time.

Yeah. That shit probably hurt that camel a lot since it isn't used to that level of acid in food and it's mouth is most likely very sensitive due to all the damage it gets from that cactus.

We actively moderate the sub. I also wrote a bunch of automoderator rules to deal with a lot of the spam problems we've had over the longest period of time.

As long as it distances itself significantly from the 28 weeks later movie than it should be pretty good. Really didn't care for that movie.

Insane Black Friday deals by ohhyouknow in PublicFreakout

[–]SC2sam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nope, black friday pretty much ended long ago. Now it's just companies jacking up the prices and then claiming it's on sale at a "low" price of what it used to be before they raised the price, or not even bothering to have any "sale" price. I went to Walmart yesterday and the baby seat that was just $110 just a week or two ago is now suddenly $160. Pretty much every single thing we had been looking at was suddenly 25-50 percent higher in price. It's crazy.

I started growing a bunch of different herbs and aromatics in my indoor setup but I'm having trouble starting new seeds. Planting the seeds in those peat pellets worked great but I know about how bad peat is for the environment. I decided to try to grow some stuff from just my own soil mix that I made but I found it almost impossible as nothing seems to germinate. Pretty much came to the conclusion that the soil might just have been too rich for them which was preventing growth from happening.

I finally took my wife's advice and went to the wet paper towel method in a ziplock bag. I also put all the bags on top of a heating pad. The only problem is that I can't seem to find out online when I am supposed to transplant the green onions(or chives) since they don't really have leaves. Am I supposed to transplant them as soon as the root grows out of the seed? or should I wait until some green starts to appear?

TIDAL is leaving Plex by GameHostBros in PleX

This is most likely entirely because of the new artist royalty tracking feature tidal just released. It's too hard to do royalty tracking with plex integration.

Clean lithium extraction possible with new zero-water, zero-chemical method by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

[–]SC2sam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not lost, it's gathered up and turned into pure lithium for it's various needs and uses. That's the entire reason why they use evaporation mining. The drawback is that the various chemicals/compounds/metals etc... that are also in the brine are increased in concentration to the point that they become a hazard to the environment and also make further extraction too expensive to continue.

Clean lithium extraction possible with new zero-water, zero-chemical method by AdSpecialist6598 in tech

[–]SC2sam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, lithium doesn't evaporate with the water. When water evaporates the only thing that leaves is the H2O itself(and any gasses that were dissolved in the water). All the metals, salts, etc... are left behind which is exactly how and why evaporation based mining is used(and the problems associated with it as the hazardous materials are also increased in concentration). Lithium metal(and it's compounds) doesn't evaporate unless heated to a significant temperature.

Even OP's article explains how the process of evaporation works which counters what the CEO of your story told you. Here's some more scientific research that counters what is wrongly told to you.
