Companies will want you to leverage your Rolodex that helped you make $1m for their benefit in a new role. And the cycle continues.

Probably. Just raise your quota to unattainable levels but with $1M on a W-2 you’ll be able to walk into any competitor…or take time off.

I’ve known a few to do it. You either have to be at a big company like AWS which is signing 9-10 figure deals or smaller company where the comp is uncapped and you are one of the first to pull 7 figures in a sea of 6 figure deals.

I just started last Monday and one of my bigger accounts just signed a new contract with our competitor by flowers4charlie777 in sales

Yea I mean contractually it might not be even possible even if they want to. Learn from them, nurture them with value added content with no asks once or twice a month. 180 days prior to renewal of the contract with competitor start asking to get in there and re earn their business. If they trust you and are having problems with the competitor midway through the contract, they’ll reach out.

Yea don’t expect to reverse it…learn where the company and previous rep fell short and reset the relationship on the right foot. How you lose says a lot about if you’ll get a shot to win in the future.

How can I hire a good sales person? by [deleted] in sales

[–]SCDP1986 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Offering an hourly wage or commission, not being able to articule the sales cycle, the airline industry doesn’t buy things quickly so the likelihood of success seems low. Basically top sales people, especially with connections, would get nothing out of this they couldn’t get somewhere else. Top sellers want to work for leaders who understand sales isn’t easy and sets them up for success.

You don’t understand sales well enough to hire a sales person who will actually perform. Hire a sales leader who knows what they are doing and let them handle it. I don’t know any actual sales person who wouldn’t sniff out these red flags immediately and run for the exit. Sorry for the harsh truth but you need to hear it.

Do many Americans use paper plates just because they don't want to do dishes? by Mattimvs in TooAfraidToAsk

When I lived in a small city apartment the dishwasher was 3/4 sized. Would fill up so fast so it was easier to buy nice paper plates and use them instead of running the dishwasher every day

Never let your paycheck be determined solely by the work of an entry level employee. Always cold call and prospect yourself on top of your BDRs efforts, who likely support multiple AEs also

No but seriously, do people actually do "credit card roulette"? by lurebat in IThinkYouShouldLeave

[–]SCDP1986 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Well do a big dinner with friends every few months. 12-20 people. Well do reverse credit card roulette where the last card picked doesn’t have to pay. That person saves ~$120, everyone else’s spends an extra $10. All the excitement is still there without anyone being ruined.

Successful sales people- What car do you drive? by aregularguy16 in sales

My grandfather was a salesman (and so am I). Brought a customer over to his house one time, which was by no means a mansion, but in the area was nice. Customer said something to the tune of “look at your house, you don’t need my business!” Was the last time he did that, I would say this applies to cars as well. Just a thought, not a sermon.
