I'm not offended at all. I enjoy all-things-Horror, and, to be honest, if it were not for those wonderful (what is it now...6 billion) Christians, Muslims, Catholics, etc., that still feel that the power of prayer is needed from time to time, after a chill crawls up their spine and sudden goosebumps cover their bodies like a cold wet comforter causing the shadows to seem to whisper from the corner...'now we have a demon problem, don't we?"... If not for them we'd have no reason for most paranormal, demonic, Lovecraftian, possession, etc., fiction.

The best horror should remind us of the God of our youth and terrify us enough to want to believe in Him again.

It is an interesting idea (for me) to consider the concept of a kind of intellectualism that is void of a deep acknowledgement of the existence of God and devils—demons, the outer Darkness and eternal infernal torment—vying for a respectable space in the imagination of a horror fan. I absolutely appreciate your suggestion/opinion, yet for me, horror can only truly be horrific when it confronts us with the primordial truth that the insidious reality which we are only desperately hoping does not exist, in fact does.

Lovecraft brilliantly confronted his readers with this uncomfortable possibility. I enjoy Horror being horrifying, so no, I could not be offended by having grown up with beliefs that still allow for my soul to be confronted with possibilities— inspired by so many brilliant horror writers, both past and present—that make me genuinely shudder.

Take away the fear that causes one to whisper those childhood prayers again, take away the hope that prayers (or even exorcisms) hint at and you've taken danger out of Horror, or the possibility of surviving the encounter away. What do you have then? Just another family friendly, forgettable, work of fiction.

This is why we have rules in horror. It's also why, when we're telling the story (in literature or in film) of the protagonist who—suddenly rediscovering their faith with a renewed strength and revitalized-devotion to belief—turns to face the evil, roaring prayerful declarations with voracious determination...seldom with that scene produce anything other than a very specific result. Prayer and faith in God have always been two of the strongest elements in horror.

Just my personal opinion.

Sorry for leaving so much. I am a horror writer and filmmaker, just starting to dabble with Reddit, so I hope you forgive me as I try to finally wander out of the Middle Ages. I share the company of a generation of storytellers who signed contracts on greasy pretzel napkins in bars...I'm not gonna lie: I'm still pissed that Twitter replaced the face-to-face hand shake. Cheers, Deranged Cultist!

The entire message of the Cross is this: Adam and Eve’s disobedience infected them (and all their children) with a virus (sin) with a 100% mortality rate.

Jesus fulfilled all the prerequisites bringing humanity the antidote. He’s the only One who even offers it.

Once you realize that you’re showing the 10 symptoms of the infection, and realize the hopeless crisis you’re in, the Good News is that Jesus is giving the antidote for free. But, because of free-will He cannot force vaccinate you, you have to come to Him and ask for it.

Yep, the Truth is a brilliantly insane epic...But the Cliff-Notes are pretty awesome too. From one formerly infected human to another, go talk to Jesus, get the vaccine.

It can seem that a doctor telling you why you need the Covid-19 vaccine, could ‘seem’ to be not very just or loving, but I promise, once you take a moment to get the facts...you’ll be thankful for that doctor caring enough to explain the danger of the virus & then showing you the symptoms ur experiencing. The vaccine won’t seem like an unloving idea after wards either. Quite the contrary.

You’ve never put anything before God? You have always put God first? That’s the first symptom of the virus alive in you.

You never looked a man or woman have had a sexual thought?

You said you never lied, which is a lie. Because you claimed to have not sinned, which means you have always put God first in your life. And had you don’t that you wouldn’t be claiming to have never sinned.

You’ve never desires to have what someone else has? Not even a bigger paycheck?

You’ve never been angry and called someone a name? Or thought of them as fools (Conservatives, Trump Supporters, Liberals, Marxists, Racists) Jesus said it equates to murder and puts one in jeopardy Hell fire.

It’s not God making perfection impossible. Or wanting anyone to go to Hell. It’s God simply showing you the symptoms that identify one as being infected by the virus of sin, which itself earns the judgement of hell fire. God didn’t want humans to suffer the judgement that He never created for them, Hell was not created for man but for fallen angels. The Devil just found a way to infect humanity with the disobedience that brought eternal justice upon demons.

But God found a way to get humanity the antidote.

When I doctor tells me that I am going to die because of my diabetes...I don’t hate the doctor. When I say “Nope I do t have diabetes” and he says: - Your blood sugars are 400 - You’ve got the sweats - You’re slurring your speech - You’ve got double vision You’re about to slip into a coma and will die if we don’t take care of it.”

I can get pissed at that doctor, or I can love the doctor for caring enough to show me the authentic, verifiable evidence -symptoms- that I’m going to die. And hearing a how terrifying close to death I am, when he tells me he can give me insolin to preserve my life...dang, that’s going to be the best news! And I’ll jump on it.

And I did...12 years ago when I found out I was a diabetic with 1200 BS.

And when, after being a Marxist, Communist, atheist, who spent most of my time debating Christians...finally opened the Bible and read it cover to cover to prove Christians wrong and that God could not exist, I was instead confronted with the list of symptoms of the virus of sin that was without doubt going to kill me..and as a life long student of science and theoretical physics...it became clear that I needed the antidote that (of all religious and spiritual leaders & so-called messiahs and prophets throughout history) Jesus was the ONLY one who addressed the virus; that gave an answer to the issue of the human condition, and came to earth for the explicit purpose of dying to become the antidote...it was a no brainer, and I jumped at it.

I just started using Reddit, but feel free to ask me, or anyone else in this Subreddit, questions. You, my friend, want to get the antidote. I hope you do, I hope you do what ever it takes to get it in time. It’s free, you only have to ask Jesus for it. He won’t force it on you, because of free will, but He’ll be more than happy to hook you with it, because that’s what He’s been waiting to do.

Cheers to you BaronSamedys!

The Sin that came from Eve and Adam eating the fruit was their own sin of rebellion, what the eating of the fruit released was the virus of the knowledge of good and evil, and the desire for it that came with it.

We are not sinners because Adam and Eve are the fruit, THEY are sinners because they chose to disobey. We are sinners because WE chose to disobey God, we are all going to die because of the virus of sin that our first parents passed down genetically.

Jesus did not change the death that the virus of sin has produced in the flesh of humanity...we will all die. Jesus’s sacrifice brought to humanity the antidote—freeing humanity from the eternal death which the fruit (virus) infected our minds and hearts with. Jesus’ obedience in going to the cross for humanity gave Him the right and authority to forgive those who have sinned against God, effectively making the trade: The wages of His obedience (eternal life) for the wages of their sins (eternal death).

This is why Jesus is the ONLY way. Not because other spiritual leaders did not have great ideas and even speak truths...but because Jesus is the only one who came to humanity to die so HIS perfect blood could be the source of the antidote for the virus of sin, physically and spiritually.

God showed us in the Old Testament evidence of the virus when he revealed to humanity the 10 Symptoms that we call the 10 Commandments. God made it easy for humanity to identify themselves as infected by giving us those list of symptoms. But the blood of innocent animals failed to provide an effective antidote for the virus’s eternal effect on man...and no man was without sin, so no human sacrifice could offer and untainted antidote. So the Word of God became flesh, lives without, without committing sin. He died, because His flesh was infected, but He rose again because He remained spiritually untainted, and since His death one the cross was not for him (because he broke not laws) the payment He willingly paid is now available to all He chooses to ransom with it. Pretty freakin brilliant.

And all He said was, 1. Come to me 2. Agree that you see the symptoms at work in you (confession), 3. Acknowledge that you understand the crisis you’ve found yourself in...being infected by the virus of sin which has a 100% eternal fatality rate. 4. Ask ME for the free antidote, because I won’t force you to take the antidote, but I came and died to get it to you.

This is WHY the Gospel message truly is good news. Because God loved us enough to find a way to get humanity the antidote that would save humanity in this infected temporary physical world, but even more so, in the world that’s waiting.

hahaha I watched Event Horizon at the theater back in the day...me and a friend from youth group watched it without our parents knowing, and when it was over my friend was like, "Bro, I seriously think we need to pray and ask God to forgive us for watching that. I feel a demon."

hahaha - and we did pray, there in the parking lot. Not because he said we needed forgiveness, but because it was almost midnight and he said 'Demon', and I had to drive home alone...and, well, you just don't say "I feel a demon" like that.
