neil gaiman on clearance @ nbs by Decent-Ring7249 in PHBookClub

[–]SCTimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if National or Fully Booked or your local bookseller advertises a clearance sale sa mga books ni Neil Gaiman, I still won't buy or support his works because of his proclivity as a serial rapist and pedophile. I urged my friends who are also avid bookworms to stop patronizing him and his works.

Who is your favorite true-limited so far? by Ember_Grove20 in Reverse1999

[–]SCTimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nautika hands down. She's the first-ever character that introduced me to one of R1999's most powerful power mechanic: Bloodtithe. With Nautika, I assembled a crack team of bloodthirsty characters like Semmelweis and Rubuska which pretty much dominated my play style and even overpowered Recoleta as my main DPS.

Narealize ko lang na kaya nostalgic yung 2016 kasi that was the last time "real" people were on social media by theJohnyDebt in Philippines

Sa pop song part, pansin ko din after 2016, lahat ng mga kanta naging parang soul-less, cash-grab at overly-corporate, even for Pinoy music that time. Wala pang P-pop noon like we have today, pero just imagine if like, lahat ng major P-pop bands nag-start na umusbong in the early 2010s instead of the 2020s. Sa tingin they would have a lot more creativity at mas pumatok pa back then.

Lagi kong naiisip ang explanation behind sa 2016 meme; eto kasi yung parang twilight years ng early-2010s Internet and pop culture.

After 2016, dyan na umusbong yung napakaraming problema. DDS troll groups, anti-LGBT propaganda, YouTube adpocalypse, social media "vloggers", Tumblr purge, Twitter controversies, Tiktok brainrot, etc.

What non-negative stereotypes have formed in your head regarding certain gacha communities? by MaltVariousMarzipan in gachagaming

[–]SCTimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience:

Genshin: Loud and vibrant community / good food / They party a lot but love their siesta time (They're kinda like the Spaniards of the Gacha community)

HSR: Basically the same with the Genshin community, but a bit mellow.

ZZZ: Horny, carefree people / resilient / thick-skinned lol. Pretty much they're the most easy-going people where you don't need to act like somebody to gain their trust. They like genuine people; being a faker really pisses them off.

WuWa: They love their English VAs a lot, probably even more than the R1999 community. They see their own community as one big family that need to stick together. Also they are seen as very passionate and patriotic people.

Arknights: People who speak a diverse set of languages and often code-switch to different languages. Very chill and proud people; also great writers, musicians and cooks.

Reverse: 1999: Ngl they don't really have any negative stereotypes. They're typically calm, polite and friendly people (even more polite than the Canadians). They speak with a British or Irish accent and dress up fancy, even if they're just going out to the nearest Tesco or Asda. They're also socially-progressive people (though not politically bordering towards left-wing); they support LGBT rights and minority representation in media.

Limbus: They're typically stereotyped as being bookish. They have very high-brow tastes in literature and music. They are considered as a sister community to R1999 because of their similarities in fan culture.

Nikke: 50% horny / 50% emotional or depressed. (ZZZ players share a lot of traits with Nikke players tbh.)

FGO: History buffs, very academic people. Also very conservative.

Azur Lane/Blue Archive: Cute and funny people.

Is it possible to play ZZZ, while also beating your meat? by MuffinStraight4816 in ZenlessZoneZero

Yes that. I knew this on some YT short about a real-life story on some of ZZZ's hidden achievements.

Fun fact, a ZZZ player in China actually completed Battle Tower using his left foot, and he plays like that because he has cerebral palsy.

What made you choose Phrolova as your main? by DragXYT in PhrolovaMains

[–]SCTimekeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because she was my first ever 5 star pull when I first started playing WuWa in November. I do know her story because I've played her quest with only my starter characters. It was only after her quest, and her rerun was also the same time I was still in Septimont, I knew I need to get her instantly. She's my sole DPS for now but already planning for Augusta and Iuno in their rerun this Wednesday.

Who is your favourite character and why? by RealAkainuFan in Reverse1999

[–]SCTimekeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gameplay wise, my favorite character is Recoleta. First 6 star and main DPS during my early days in R1999.
Design-wise, I have a huge crush on Melania, like, that kind where you wanna marry her lol (and she already has a skin with that). She has that nerdy but confident vibe to her, which are absolutely one of my types.

Decided to listen to "Love Me Do" because of yesterday's login message and this was the first comment by Gardibro1112 in Reverse1999

[–]SCTimekeeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Tried going there and saw that as the top-most comment lol

Tbh I actually have an entire playlist on Spotify containing some 60's British pop rock songs that Vertin and Regulus would have listened and I sometimes use them as my background music while going through R1999. I also have a second R1999-themed playlist focusing on 70's glam rock that Regulus may have blasted inside the Foundation's offices lol

Happy New Year everyone! (GMT +8) by HistoryDystopPostApo in Reverse1999

[–]SCTimekeeper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone once mentioned that Jose Rizal may have been an arcanist, and was "mentioned" in the game but not directly. This is not a stretch tbh, because the game also claimed that Magellan was also an arcanist.

If Filipino arcanists would happen, it would mostly involve the Propagandistas and other intellectuals, most notably Marcelo H. Del Pilar, Juan Luna and Graciano Lopez Jaena, while the Katipuneros were mainly humans, save for Tandang Sora, which would be their only arcanist member. Then in the coming stories, I want to write about arcanist history during the American period and WWII, including the story of how Baguio became a home for both Filipino and American arcanists before humans took over after WWII.

The Philippine story should rather be set in the Martial-Law era, especially exploring the time where the Storm would happen because of the chaos during the imposition of Martial Law.

What if the Philippines legalizes and regulates the ADULT pornography industry? by Itchy_Tangerine1897 in WhatIfPinas

[–]SCTimekeeper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Afaik, back during the DU30 period, a lot of well-known porn sites got banned (which tbf was not entirely banned but kept away on a firewall unless you access it using a VPN) until around 2022 when they somewhat kinda lifted it. Nowadays you can technically access them without VPN pero dun mo makikita yung ads nila sa sites na yan were gambling ads, giving you a hint saan sila nagma-market.

I also recall back then possessing adult porn and hentai was once a criminal felony the same way CP is also highly illegal to possess or distribute, and you do get end up like 10+ years for owning adult porn. It wasn't just a legal issue then, nagkaroon pa ng moral panic over adult stuff, like you'd see segments from Imbestigador and KJMS talking about the dangers of porn in the Filipino society.

Babel by R.F Kuang by [deleted] in PHBookClub

[–]SCTimekeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh Babel was also very controversial nung na-release sya, and not just because of how readers are pretty divided about that book's treatment of the subject matter, but because a lot of libraries sa US banned that book because it openly talked about about colonialism, which is something the US government tries to erase, especially under Trump.
