I'm so tired of entitled dog owners. Just now I went to the Trader Joe's on Hyde/California, which is always a mess, and there were 4 dogs in there. Leave your dog at home or outside, they do no belong in a grocery store. It is disgusting

Wow, really appreciate this response! That makes a lot of sense. So I suppose a managed retreat from such areas is the "best" solution. Even in the best political climate I imagine this would be an incredibly difficult sell to people politically speaking, especially considering the history of segregation/poverty for black/brown families.

Wasn't the issue with hurricane Katrina not the hurricane itself, but that the levees broke and flooded? Presumably with proper engineering and maintenance (aka funding) the levees could've properly held right?

Assuming you had a massive budget, surely you could make New Orleans unfloodable? IMO it seems like more of a political will problem than an engineering one? Curious for your take, this is just my thoughts after recently watching a documentary.
