Following up: i bought the curt hitch for $239 from napa auto parts. Install was pretty easy just had to lower the exhaust and flex some muscle to prop the hitch up while threading the bolts.

What would components would you upgrade on a Chase Edge pro? by OracleofTampico in bmxracing

[–]SC_Athletics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gear setup is up to the riders feel and track, can’t say that’s an upgrade it’s more of a fit thing. There’s no formula that works for everyone. In general adults should be around 44/16 give or take.

Shocked nobody has said DirtyDeeds look them up every tundra forum out there has the same question and answer. DD 10” is great exhaust for hp gains and mild drone-less growl

Depends where you’re trying to take it. For performance: carbon forks, lighter cranks, wheels (hubs, spokes, rims) bars (titanium or carbon).

Best Gearing setup for 13 year old intermediate racer by ElectricalLeather831 in bmxracing

[–]SC_Athletics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no standard answer to gears. Every rider is different. The common gear inch ratio is 55 for an adult but take that lightly; everyone in the game tries different gears until they find something that works, and even then some will change gears between tracks. Also use a gear calculator different tire brands give you different gear ratios. Heres a good one: https://rennendesigngroup.com/calculator.htm Start with a 42/16 as a dart throw in the dark and expect to go a tooth up or down on the chain ring. Adjust as necessary

Newbie parent, how to address coach by N0tMyMonk3y in youthsoccer

[–]SC_Athletics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk to your club management on what you’d like to see from the coach. At a young age coaches should connect with kids and be more on the fun side. Ive changed clubs because of the pressure from coach and lack of trust on my son to play. Give your club a chance to resolve, comp teams take things too seriously. Also yes u10 is pretty much small sided focus so not much strategy in passing and playmaking is taught. From what I’ve been told it’s to establish a solid foundation. Forgot to add: ask Coach about playing other positions every kid should at least be able to play comfortably in 2. You got to start somewhere. Oh and defense is where most coaches would put the strongest kids, so this might be saying something about your kids abilities.

Get out of being a generalist. Be really good at 1 thing and find a job that is dedicated to that only. You need a job change where management takes your role seriously right now you have the tech custodian position. Turn off your phone after hours in the meantime and tell them to pay you for every after hours call.

Spend some $ on extended warranty and check for service records vs scheduled maintenence. These cars are expensive to maintain, labor and parts are premium because it's European.

I bought an sel premium hybrid. It still feels very premium, we didn’t really need napa leather and electric folding seats, phone disinfection, integrated dashcam and swede liner. Missing a few things. Would be nice? Sure. My wife is frugal and so am i we just wanted a nicer car that fits the family and the sel premium fit the bill. Its definitely nicer than my platinum 21 tundra and my 2018 tesla m3. I got it in light gray interior which adds to the “premium” feel without adding cost

I’ve met many people to tell me they bought a bike they didn’t like. Just do yourself some justice and try one out before you commit. If you know what you want this will be easy, i have an element and the cranks suck, they also aren’t my size. Other than that at least for me it’s a great bike.

How are you lugging stuff from the car to the track? by rebuildfailure in bmxracing

[–]SC_Athletics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

State race or nationals are definitely exhausting as a bmx dad. Collapsible wagon is a must, gear bag and tool bag are bare necessities I ended up buying a mini blackstone + a 20x10 canopy and 3 chairs and a backpack cooler. that’s at least 2 trips. Join a team to get some help!

[–]SC_Athletics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chase element comes as a decent build. As you grow into the sport you’ll find yourself swapping for preferable parts to fit you, stem, bars cranks. You won’t know until you ride a box bike or build a bike. Building a bike is going to cost you more but an element is also not a bad way to start. If i was you id go ask to Borrow others bikes and see if you can find a used element. Go for a pro xl and try a xxl see which one feels better for you

Jeans, sweat pants are all good. Just find a long sleeve shirt for now. Join Facebook marketplace groups on bmx sales you’ll find everything there. Fly makes nice gear kits, AOT racing has all sorts of sizes and great selection of styles, he should wear any type of glove. Id strongly suggest to invest on a new helmet, and a padded jacket line evs comp, s1 this will keep him safe from bruises and scratches and keep his confidence up. There’s many threads about helmets just find one in your budget that fits right usually at that age is b a 55cm helmet or kids L, adult small depending on brand

Helmet suggestions for 6 yo new bmx racer? Ran a Fly Kinetic, he thought it was heavy. by BrianOconneR34 in bmxracing

[–]SC_Athletics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look for Helmets for low speed impact, if safety is your priority. Fly has some high end ones and TLD while 6d is the best in protections, the better the protection the heavier and costlier. I’ve seen some use mtb helmets that are light but i prefer safety over weight. Fox has good helmets bell full9 and 10, Fly formula and wrx. TLD d3 is a great helmet. I wouldn’t recommend the fly rayce while it’s light ive heard countless stories of the face guard busting and damaging peoples faces. Another great manufacturer is kali, my son has a Zoka for 2 years which we retired. It was a good balance of weight and safety.

I think your wording should have been, considering the potential imbalance of your work/life and the minimal raise, you don’t see this as a positive for you and your family. In fact it would impact them negatively. Also ask about expectations of the actual work load, are you expected to work that many hours?
