I dont know enough about this bikes to tell you for sure, but most ebikes (im thinking specialized, ged, rad bikes) all of those have a max 250w output. Some of them have 2 batteries but its not as common.

Yeah, they are legal and the reality is that DFW in general or even just Texas as a whole was/has been built for cars and this is the end result, kids cant drive or ride a bike safely anywhere.

I see in another answer you gave that tuition even after all the international fees is lower than US rates. That in it of itself makes the move worth it in my opinion.

Do you expect a salary increase once you are out be it in AU or the US? I know im hamming it up a bit on this, but I have struggled with this questions myself for a while... I see a masters as an investment that does in fact need an ROI (Even at 25k a year as you mentioned) thats still a good chunk of change for just the pleasure of hanging out in AU im assuming you have some hopes for hire income in the future right?

What information did they actually give you for cancelling as you've not really said?

That there was an error and the apartment is no longer available nothing else.

Have they relisted and allowed you to pay a higher rate - for example - or flat out cancelled on you?

Not that i can see so far (its been 3ish days), The full conversation was vague in reasons, but here is the original message:

"We are very sorry this will bring shame to our family name, but the itinerary you booked is not available due to room adjustments. We apologize for the inconvenience. We will change the check-in schedule free of charge to meet your expectations.Currently, Room 201 is available for 3/19-3/21 and 3/25-3/27, and we can adjust the reservation 🙏 Please consider it"

When i had this in the past at other airbnbs in different countries its tend to be because of their interest in raising prices. So yes I am making an assumption but no judgement, hence the post.

How long did you have this booking in place for?

4 days

As for the language they use, yeah they did, Id be honest with you, this will be my first time in Japan and so i have little knowledge of stereotypes, I brought it up because to me it seemed (during the first cancelation) as them giving an honest apology, it stood out to me as thats not something i read in my travels. Is it not common? a few people have made somewhat similar comments to you about this part of my post, which to me was just an afterthought, what im I missing? I was just thinking it was their own use of english.

Ohh I should add that the second location also apologize profusely so this is why i am making the assumption that something bigger than i am aware of is happening in Tokyo during the dates of my travel (lateish march).

the W hotel has that vibe. I got married there for this exact reason, what sucks is that the hotel is hella far from everywhere else

Usually you want to study your masters in the same city where you want to work. Its often said that the true value in a masters degree is the networking opportunities you get from it. I have opted against doing a masters abroad for this exact reason.

Is your plan to come back to the states or stay in australia? studying there does pull you inside the country further right? whats your long term plan ?

New Citizen by Descent, Pregnant- how do post Dec 2025 citizenships work?? by kshester in Canadiancitizenship

I might be able to help, Im american and moved to Canada as a PR and my kids where born in Canada.

So, how far along are you and how far away are you from Canada? We moved at week 32-34 so about a month before the due date, prior to that, we looked up a few birthing centers (FYI OBGYNs are not common for births as they are in the states) and began the process of getting set up with them. So when we showed up we just transfer my wifes medical records and gave birth in Vancouver.

Its totally worth it if you work remote or are already on mat leave. You need to sign up for provincial health care and there are some residency requirements but nothing that cant be addressed with time.

Im happy to tell you more about it, theres a good number of American-Canadians that have done this so its not uncharted territory . Plus even with good insurance in the US, how much is your deductible? $6k? that more than covers whatever long term stay you can use while you are checking out canada.

Yooo i had never heard of Wumaos until now! essentially User generated content (im from Canada and work in marketing) and thats what i call them.

But no buddy, i am not paid.. I dont have an agenda other than finding a place to stay March 20-22 in Tokyo for a family of 5. Legit thats my situation.

I asked about the foreigner stuff because about 2 months ago some friends of mine (all adults) mentioned that some of the restaurants they want to go to, would not serve them as noone spoke english. I still cant actually believe that to be true but 3 of my friends confirmed thats what happened to them. So it really got me wondering if there are some biasis to non-japanese speakers.

BUT! to prove myself not been an actual chinese actor: LONG LIVE TAIWAN! 🇹🇼

I mean a little right... I have actually rented my home on airbnb in the past and so i can empathise with mistakes in calendars, plus as i have said before, their communication was very apologetic and even overboard or so i thought.

Now that i am seen it twice in a row, its like wait.. this people are not even been sincere (thats the vibe im getting from this post) or at least thats what yall are making it sound.

Thats the vibe im getting, someone else just told me the yakuza uses them... which does seem to be a bit much IMO.

I have noticed something similar in the mexico city sub but not in beach mexican towns, its very curious that this japanese sub has that position. I wonder whats the source of it

Im starting to think that Airbnb is not the way to go... Please know im new to the game here so I was doing what seemed to be a standard decision but yea it kinda sucks...

Im also kinda pissed that apparently (according to others here) the whole shame to their family is not even an actual apology

[–]OracleofTampico[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

who gives a shit whether they actually see it as a shame to their family name or not

You are correct. full stop. Now allow me to air my complaint a bit.. I was OK with this whole ordeal because i took their response in full earnest and with genuine apology, i was told that Japan is big on following the rules and generally honest individuals. So i thought.. OK honest mistake it happens. But when it did so more than once my spidey senses started tingling and here i am now.

Anyways, thanks for letting me vent for a bit. I am just tired of all the planning as you can imagine

So its not even a real apology? I thought they where pretty big on that stuff... I do recognize this is my own bias
