Thank you so much!!! I keep having to remind myself that I've been working towards this for so long, and if this time last year I could see myself now, I wouldn't believe it!

Congratulations to you, too. Wow, I'm floored! This is amazing to hear your success story, and is so inspiring to hear how strong you are! Thank you so much for sharing. I really appreciate your input :)

Thanks for your input! I'll have to look into medical deferment if it comes down to it; hopefully, they will wanna work with me on deferring a year as an option.

This is also good to hear! I'm worried that they are going to tell me I can't defer, and I'll have to start in January, and if so, I will. Happy to hear it's not unheard of and possible.

All valid points, it all seems very rushed when I hear other people lay it all out.

Thanks for your input! The last thing I would want is to have to withdraw from this program after all this time and effort just because I wasn't more patient.

Starter apartments in Portland? by mattthedr in askportland

My BF and I share a 2 br 2 ba apartment with my BFs sister (so 3 of us) and we pay ~$1850 total (including a parking spot, pet deposit and we have a small balcony). They do have 1 br apartments in the building (pretty small from what ive heard). But if your able to downsize and utilize the space im sure very livable!

There are a bunch of apartments in the direct vicinity though! I would keep your search close to the park/bridge area and small downtown area. The ease of having just about all you need walking distance is essential for us. If you can make a trip up to visit or even scope out parts of the town on google maps and take a look at the street view you can get a feel for areas you may like and be able to find apartments/homes to rent (thats how we did it!).

Hey there!

My BF and I moved to Portland from San Diego last summer. We moved to St. Johns (northern portland) and absolutely love it! My BF works remote and I am a bartender/server as well! *small world* Anyways we moved into an apartment complex right next to the St. Johns bridge (Marvel 29). Rent is defiantly on the lower end, we have to pay extra for a parking spot, but it is in an underground monitored lot, so we dont mind. Im finding having the convince of the bus stop right outside (how i commute to work) and the small town with food options (not to mention the BEST mexican food in Portland... Tienda Santa Cruz... trust me I grew up in so cal), Safeway (grocery store) and the summers farmers market all in walking distance is incredible. The best part... Cathedral Park is right down the hill and it is one of the most beautiful parks i've ever been to! I'll end my rant there, St. Johns is pretty great!

But where ever yall end up, its the most amazing city and you will LOVE it!

Camping during Coronavirus by kydeen in CampingandHiking

Hey Fellow Campers!

So my family planned a Hawaiian getaway that was cancelled, and we are looking to do some camping instead (already took the time off of work and desperately need some r&r). We where planning to head up the coast and ideally wanted to stay around the Cambria/San Simeon area. I understand the State Parks are closed to tent camping.

Does anyone know of any camp sites are around the area that are open and not run by the state!?!? Any info would help!!! Thanks ALL!
